President Bush, who tends to see the “good’’ side of everything and everyone who joins him on the road, has had a “pretty good’’ week for someone grappling with low public approval.

“One of the good things about being president is you tend to draw cameras – good or bad, depending on your perspective,’’ Bush said today, basking in the free publicity of his appearance at the computer-chip pioneer Intel’s complex in Rio Rancho, N.M., to promote the “American competitiveness initiative’’ that he rolled out in his State of the Union address this week.

Bush was there with Sen. Pete Domenici (R-N.M.) – “what a good man he is,’’ Bush said.

Celebrating the “entrepreneurial spirit of America,’’ Bush suggested: “I do happen to think good tax policy helped’’ – as well as “good fiscal policy out of Washington, D.C.’’

The nation must maintain the pre-eminent economy in the world, the president said, “so our people can have a good life.’’

Intel makes “a good product,’’ Bush noted. Tom Hunter, president of Sandia, also was with him. “They’re doing some good stuff when it comes to research and development,’’ the president said.

“We want to make sure that we’re in entrepreneurial heaven, and by that I mean that if you’ve got the instinct and the drive to start your own business, that you’ll be comfortable in doing so,’’ Bush told the high-tech business leaders surrounding him. “We can guarantee you good legal policy, good tax policy, good regulator policy, and then go for it. ‘’

Of course Bush has a "funny side", "humorous nature", he's a total goof ball. Bush has been accused of being a crack head, he had run-ins with the law, and he's still an untreated alcoholic, so he's the uncle at the family reunion who never takes life seriously, who your mother tells you to stay away from, and who keeps disappearing behind the shed, oh, don't forget to never loan this type of character any money "to go on a beer run", you'll never see it again. As an american, I've loaned this bozo money and he gives it to his billionaire friends, now my poor ass has to pay it back to the (Chinese gov't) treasury. Bush scares me, he's a total fool, I don't think he understands how deep over his head he is, so to cope, he tells jokes. God bless america, we need it.

President Bush is such a fine person in addition to be a great President. 95.5 percent employment and low interest rates great housing market, income at an all time high. Leading the US to a victory against the teriorrist and thats with out the help of the Democrats. I remember Waco and Ruby Ridge and that mess in the White House with that Lewinski girl, sure is nice not to have a pervert in the oval office. Cliff

The president's public approval ratings are way higher than the ratings for newspaper reporters. For example, the Tribune in 2001 noted that only 21% of the public give newspaper reporters high ratings for ethics--tied with members of Congress, and just below auto mechanics. Trib editor Charles Madigan has written (Dec. 8, 2002), "If you are ... a journalist, you should probably just assume that you come across [to the public] as a liar". Perhaps every Swamp posting should be headed by "Although grappling with low approval ratings ad lack of credbility, this reporter nonetheless will give his/her opinion on..."

Hey Cliff what planet do you live on?

Cliff,
Why are you STILL bringing up Clinton? You know he's out of office, right? Do you suffer from the same complex W. does, jealous that daddy likes Bill more than his own son?
As far as W. having a sense of humor, I couldn't agree more, he is COMEDIC GENIUS.
