In baseball, there is no partisanship. At least today in Washington.

Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois, the second-ranking Democrat in the Senate, is often critical of President Bush. But a few minutes ago, he issued a two-sentence statement praising the president. Not for his policies, mind you, but for inviting the World Champion Chicago White Sox to the White House.

"Today in Washington, the “W” in George W. Bush stands for White Sox," Durbin said. "We thank the president for honoring our World Champions and hope to make this an annual visit.”

Durbin is among the politicians on hand for this afternoon's East Room ceremony with the president. We'll have more on this event shortly.
