President Bush is speaking at the National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast and then meeting with governors on the line item veto.

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee is holding a hearing on national emergency management with DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff, Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Thad Allen and others. 10 a.m.

The House Government Reform Committee is holding a hearing on data security breaches at federal agencies, with Deputy OMB Director Clay Johnson III, Comptroller General David Walker, VA Secretary Jim Nicholson and others. 10 a.m.


June 7 - 8. OCEAN LITERACY — The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, White House Council on Environmental Quality and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy hold the first Conference on Ocean Literacy.
9 a.m. Explorer Robert Ballard, live via satellite from the Aegean Sea, and Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.).
1:45 p.m. Oceanographer of the Navy Rear Adm. Fred Byus, on ocean literacy and education.

10 a.m. AFRICA-TRADE — Trade ministers from Ghana, Lesotho, Benin, the Democratic Republic of Congo hold a news briefing following a meeting with members of the AGOA Action Committee.

10 a.m. WORKER RIGHTS — The AFL-CIO holds a news conference to announce an initiative that calls for the administration to enforce trade laws and halt alleged mistreatment of Chinese workers and outsourcing of U.S. jobs.

10 a.m. - 11 a.m. METH-FAMILIES — Generations United holds a media briefing on release of a new report on the effect of meth on foster care and a congressional briefing to address the challenges meth poses to the foster care system and grandfamilies, and discuss policy solutions for child welfare financing and the courts.

10 a.m. - 11 a.m. PUBLIC INTERNET CHANNEL — One Economy Corp. launches campaign for nation’s first Public Internet Channel with Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama and Mayor Martin O’Malley of Baltimore. The Public Internet Channel will be comprised of a network of organizations, public, private and nonprofit, coming together to produce a Web property to serve the public interest, especially low to moderate-income Americans. It will provide national and local content/programming in the following areas: safety/emergency services, economic livelihood, health, education, and public affairs. All content will be available in English and Spanish.
