David Lightman, the Hartford Courant’s bureau chief here who sits a few dozen feet away from me, has a good story in his newspaper today about tension between the Republican head of a House homeland security subcommittee and the top-ranking Democrat on the panel.
Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) has called the panel’s chairman, Rep. Rob Simmons (R-Conn.) a “wimp.” Simmons and his staff are evidently taking the tried and true approach of sticks-and-stones-may-break-my-bones etc. "What's she going to say next, that Rob has cooties and gives wedgies?" Lightman quotes Todd Mitchell, Simmons' chief of staff, as saying.
All in all, it’s your tax dollars at work, folks.
