What do Sen. John McCain (D-Ariz.) and Michael Jackson, the pop music icon and curiosity, have in common.

Nothing, really, except for their birthdays, which are today.

That didn’t stop someone associated with the Senate Majority Project, a Democratic group whose name makes its reason for being self-evident, from trying to find some other commonalities.

Here’s the top-ten list they put together. My favorite is number four.

Senate Majority Project would like to extend the happiest of Birthday Wishes to today's birthday boys, John McCain and Michael Jackson.

And on this special day, we can't help noticing some ways in which they are decidedly similar:

TOP 10 MCCAIN/JACKSON SIMILARITIES

1. Both understand the value of a complete makeover.

2. Michael Jackson: Jackson 5; John McCain: Keating 5

3. Jackson: “Dangerous.” McCain: Dangerous.

4. McCain: Backpedaling on campaign finance reform. Jackson: Moonwalking.

5. McCain: Conservative right-wingers don’t like him. Jackson: Same.

6. McCain: Beaten by Bush. Jackson: Beat it.

7. Jackson: About to lose Neverland Ranch; McCain: About to lose Iowa.

8. Jackson: Inexplicable friendship with Elizabeth Taylor. McCain: Inexplicable friendship with Jerry Falwell.

9. Jackson: No exit strategy for Iraq. McCain: Same.

10. Most people liked the old version of both better.

Wonder what McCain did to earn their ire? Happy birthday, senator! Some of these were actually funny (a DNC rarity) Most people liked the old version better, too true.

There are many wing nuts I would associate w/ Wacko Jacko, but not McCain.

He sold his soul to the neo nuts in 04,which will come back to haunt him in 08.

Bill,

Why does John McCain have that strange look on his face in the Swamp photo??

Are his glasses on sideways,or is his face still crooked from the swift boating he got from Karl Rove, and the roverats in South Carolina??

I wonder what he really thinks about Bush, and his fan base??

Actually, John, his glasses are on crooked because that photo was taken shortly after McCain had surgery to remove a cancerous melanoma from the side of McCain's face. I think he was trying to cover up the red spot where he'd had surgery. Yes, that McCain picture has been up here THAT long.

Hey Frank,

Slow news day in DC? Do you get paid by the word? That was the dumbest article I have ever read. that is 2 minutes of my life I will never get back.
