Chicago Tribune reporter Christi Parsons and photographer Pete Souza traveled this week to New Hampshire to document Sen. Barack Obama's visit to the state where the first-in-the-nation primary will be held 14 months from now.
The crowds were reportedly huge and very excited. Here's some of what Pete saw and what Christi wrote.

ALL ABOARD!!!!!!!!!
This country is in obvious need of a LEADER!!!!
WASHINGTON - President Bush is piling up strategy sessions on Iraq, aiming to reverse the course of the war and energize his final two years in office.
As President DUM DUM gets stratefied............
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- The U.S. military said Monday that four American soldiers were killed and three wounded by two roadside bombs Sunday in Baghdad as suspected sectarian violence cost another 51 Iraqis their lives.
But,what's really important to Repub zealots, whats "Toddler Stroger" up to!!!!
Keep up the battle "Brother Dale".

It's too early. He's still too inexperienced. We've seen what inexperience gets us these last 6 years.
We need someone with more heft. I can't think of anyone out there who fits the bill except maybe Hagel.

Bud-
If you want heft, how about Bill Richardson (and I'm not talking about his weight)?
He's got solid foriegn policy experience, along with executive experience as Governor of New Mexico.

If Obama has a white
mother and a black father why does he call himself a black man? Is he not white also ?

The Rolling Stones "joke" says it all: LET'S ELECT A CELEBRITY!
(I wish politicians wouldn't attempt to tell jokes.)

I can’t figure out why people feel the need for Sen. Obama to have more experience? The majority of presidents we have elected into office had little of no experience in federal government, most were former governors. That being said, I feel we have had a number of great leaders, and the best of them spoke from the hart for all of the American people, not just the richest few. Sen. Obama I think is one of those people that can bring dignity and pride back to Americans with his level headed approach and ability articulate that approach to a wide variety of people. I think Sen. Obama knows how fickel voters can be, he knows that if you wait for a better opportunity it may never present itself.

-I agree, Bud.
That is why he makes the perfect VP candidate, if you can find the perfect Presidential candidate. But who will that be? Someone that has more experience in foreign policy, can work both sides of the aisle in Congress, appeal to folks across party lines, and NOT let his/her ego fret about being out-charisma-ed by the VP? Not Hillary - it's obvious she feels too threatened by his popularity and she's too polarizing. Not Biden - too much ego. Please, not Kerry, for the love of gawd, please, no! Not Gore - he won't play 2nd fiddle again. Hagel, maybe - people have come around on his stance on the war.
i could see both Vilsack or Edwards fitting the bill as well - good, solid values and mass appeal to middle America, and humble, too.
i guess we'll have to wait and see how everything shakes out. In the meantime, i'm enjoying watching Obama. He's smart, engaging and honest (from what i can tell) - 3 qualities that are surely lacking from the current Administration.

Bud,
Don't buy into the Repubs "no experiance" line on Obama.
Check out the experiance that W.,Cheney, and Rummy had......it's an excuse their using...
The next Prez is going to be a moderate, uniter which is why a Republican won't win in 08.
Obama in 08!!

I've noticed the main stream media has been comparing Obama to Bobby Kennedy and I do see similarities.
1.Bobby Kennedy spear-headed the civil rights act of 1964 with the help of J.F.K and L.B.J
1a.Barak took his family on vacation to Africa and showed that nation how to get tested for aids.
2.Bobby ran a crusade against organized crime and put Hoffa in prison
2a.Barak bought a lot from Tony Rezko, who soon may be in prison.
3.Bobby helped develop the strategy to blockade Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
3a.Barak may be in Cuba soon to pay respects to Fidel.

T.J.-
Look at the man. If you have dark skin, you get treated like a black man whether you want to or not.
Incidently, the article make no reference to the Senator's race. Why did you feel the need to raise the issue of his self-identification?

No chance I'm voting for a guy who publicly campaigned for Todd Stroger last month. Don't believe the hype - Obama's just another politician.
Posted by: Andy | December 11, 2006 3:27 PM
Andy, you are correct. Barack worked his brain to re-elect the most corrupt governor in Illinois history. To elect the most incompetent Crooked COunty Board president in history. And to elect Alexi Giannoulous, who gave loans to common criminals.

These days one simply doesn't take seriously anything the Swampune writes on Saint Barack. The hype is already over-the-top reality-denying funny.

Hey, I didn't know that Obama supported George Ryan for re-election.

This is a non-topic.
Having said that, for relevance, the Swamp has missed two significant political stories the last couple of days.
1. Some Fox News demigod declared conservative victory over the Liberal War on Christmas. I saw some hilarious cuts of this guy on Stewart earlier this week. I don't know the guys name. He is kind of a Rush clone, with glasses and crew cut. Real piggie boy. Can any cons klu us in as to whom this is?
Anyway, he was flogging the victory of Christmas over the Liberals due to the fact Wal-Mart, the largest corporation in the Milky Way had instructed it's indentured servants to greet with Merry Christmas this year. This minor 'Turd Blossom', whomever he is, seemed delighted that I , a LIBROOL, might be offended by this. Me, I like-ee the Merry Christmas.
In fact, I like Merry Christmas or Happy Holliday, as long as it is given in good kindly spirit, not loaded with hidden barbs or thrown elbows.
By the way; The Liberal War on Christmas has been defeated, except in Seattle, at SeaTac. Apparently a Jewish Rabbi wanted a Menorah placed next to the official 'SeaTac' xmas tree, so the airport managers took the xmas trees down.
Question: Do you think Fox News will crank up the 'Jewish War on Christmas' agitprop this year?
I think not.
PS: I love SeaTac. It took so many home in the late 60's, early 70's. Won't hear a word against it.
By the way again; Looks like the LWoC will be replaced at Fox with the Liberal War on Stem Cells. I'm not kidding.
2. Pinochet is deaded;
Well, how sad, one of our old allies is gone to his final reward. He was such a nice, grandfatherly figure in our minds.
And he only murdered 3-4k political opponents. Hey, this guy was no Mussolini, or Franco, for that matter. High praise indeed. The victims, in fact, should be proud to have died for such a worthy cause.

I think Obama is great. I support him if he runs and not for vice president.
He wants to make this country great again and I know if he was president he would know how to bring us back to being proud of our country and not ashamed. He would be able to work with other leaders and make the changes we need. He would know how to deal with the middle east as well as our allies. He would bring us pride and make America work again.
He has a new way of looking a problems and how to solve them and would deflat the hate mongers.
I hope he runs, wins and has a successful presidency.
I have a feeling he could change things alot and for the better.

John D.,
Blago the most corrupt governor in IL history? What has he been convicted or even charged w/? That is one of the most outrageous things you've ever said. You realize Gov George Ryan is actually going to prison for real crimes, not silly accusations from a partisan hack?
Posted by: jethro | December 12, 2006 8:21 AM
jethro,
You didn't get the updated talking points from Fox News?
Both Foley and Ryan are liberal Democrats. DeLay, too.
