Almost all eyes and cameras are on Sen. Barack Obama (a man seated in the front row appears to be shielding his eyes against Obama's scintillating star power) as the senator questions witnesses during a Senate Foreign Relations Committee meeting the day after he announced he was forming a presidential exploratory committee. Abe Lincoln, one of the founders of the republican party, rolls over in his grave every time he's compared to a democrat.

...Abe Lincoln, the first Republican president (...he was not, repeat not, one of the founders of the Republican party...) rolls over in his grave every time someone relates the party of Lincoln to the present day Republican party...
...The party of Lincoln hasn't been the party of Lincoln since it was the party of Lincoln...

The last true Republican died in the Ford Theater.

C.Morris- The last true Democrat was in a wheelchair and used the same means as Lincoln to win a war. This was before there was an A.C.L.U. and now we lose wars...go figure.

Logic Prisoner--
Clarence Page,in todays column must have read,as Eric Zorn does, my posts from the past and the ones from yesterday. He wrote "Hussein" and mentioned "Baracks smoking habits" in the fifth paragraph down in his article.
(I prefer Eric Zorn's Jan.9th column.)
Anyway,I gather from Page's article,if we don't vote for Barack...because we may disagree with his views or color...we fail a test???
C'mon!

Paulo:
You just can't get past Mr. Obama's ears and his name, can't you? Didn't your mother teach you not to make fun of other people because of their name or the way they look?
You must have graduated from a schoolyard with a master's in bullying. Or, as someone who got picked on by a bully, and only knows how to deal with their pain by venting it onto others.
As for Mr. Obama's use of drugs in his youth and his current smoking habit, I'm sure you are Mr. Puritan Perfect yourself, with no vices or bad habits all your life so you must be eminently qualified to judge others. Don't you read the Bible? Let he without sin cast the first stone. So apparently your soul is as pure as snow, and you have a sackful of stones.

"Abe Lincoln, one of the founders of the republican party, rolls over in his grave every time he's compared to a democrat."
Abe Lincoln, who worked for rights for African Americans, who gave land away to the poor with the Homestead Act, who laid the foundation for Federal support for education with the Land Grant Colleges Act, who created one of the first federal social services agencies in the Freedman's Bureau, would be a Democrat.
"Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration." Abraham Lincoln First message to Congress, 12/3/1861

Paulo since you have so much WILL POWER why don't you guide the country!
Posted by: Dunny Rummy | January 18, 2007 1:32 PM
Jeff,
Lincoln was more Democrat (in today's sense) than he was Republican. It's a joke how Republicans parade on his memory every February when many of them stand for the same things Lincoln fought against. Lincoln knew that for the country to survive, "states rights" had to take a back seat to national interests. Everything else just flows from that.

We've seen Paulo's plan for Iraq and it is a)make fun of Barack Obama's middle name, b)make fun of Barack Obama's ears, c)make fun of Barack Obama's smoking addiction, and d)make fun of Hillary Clinton's weight.

Obama's webpage states that he is for the banning of all semi-automatic guns. This would include your father's favorite semi-auto shotgun that he uses to shoot skeet and hunt birds with. It also includes your nephew's favorite Ruger .22 rifle.
If Obama sticks with this, voters will be angry with him. He will NOT have a chance at winning.

Quoth ignoranat Republicans, "What has Barack Obama ever done for Illinois?"
"For six years, Obama served in a Republican-controlled Senate, so he and fellow Democrats only got a fraction of their bills signed into law.
During his last two years, Democrats controlled the chamber and he was the go-to guy on a variety of issues. He helped pass legislation overhauling Illinois' troubled capital punishment system and was a key figure in requiring a massive statewide study of traffic stops to look for signs of racial profiling. Although police groups opposed the legislation, they say Obama listened to their concerns and accepted some of their suggestions to improve the bill.
Even when he was in the political minority, Obama sometimes played a critical role. He helped write one of the rare ethics laws in a state known for government corruption and worked on welfare reform with Republicans.
He sponsored legislation to bar job and housing discrimination against gays, and he helped create a state version of the earned income tax credit for the poor. Obama also led efforts to reject federal rules that would have put workers' overtime checks in jeopardy"
Amazing what a simple Google search will reveal

Vote for Barack Obama because he is the most qualified candidate for president. Clinton has been noted as a fighter. No natural-born leader has to keep fighting, people gravitate towards your natural leadership skills and tend to agree with you. This is what you see in Obama. McCain has anger issues and is feared not only amongst democrates but even amonsgt his fellow republicans. So please go out and make the right choice and vote for Obama as the next president of the United States. Hilary was not succesful with her universal health care plan when her husband was in office. What makes you think anyone will want to work with her when she becomes president. Do the right thing people, vote for OBAMA!
