Some big Chicago unions are unhappy with him, but Democratic Mayor Richard Daley shrugged it off with a smile today.
It's true the Chicago police union isn't endorsing his bid for reelection, but Daley said he thinks that's actually a "strong message for me."

"Like anything else, when you're the employer, sometimes" that happens, Daley said while meeting with other Illinois municipal officials, in Washington for a national mayors conference.
"It's the people that vote," he said. "And I'm very proud of what I've done at the police department over many, many years."
He cited construction of police stations, use of new technology and hiring of more police officers as accomplishments that voters will use in their review of him.
But it's not just Daley under review right now. Union leaders realize that he will probably win reelection, so they are targeting a dozen City Council incumbents loyal to Daley.

Daley to the unions: I can win with you or without you.
Unless and until there is serious opposition from the political class, the only boot that matters is the one on Daley's foot.

Seriously, why should Daley care at all? He knows most brainwashed democrats in Chicago will vote for him without even thinking for themselves. Democracy around here is a total joke.

Jeff,
Ask yourself which political party puts up with this.
