Barack Obama has been generating a lot of chatter for months now, but he doesn’t beat Hillary Clinton in the year’s blogosphere buzz.

Over the past year, Hillary Clinton has had double the number of citations in the blogosphere when compared to Obama, according to Nielsen BuzzMetrics, which monitors consumer-generated media such as blogs and boards.

In fact, Hillary outscored both Obama and likely candidate John Edwards in blog mentions for most of the past year - although their buzz volume currently rivals hers.

On the Republican side, there is greater differentiation among the likely candidates, with John McCain as a leading hot topic.

The numbers reflect blog citations in the English-language blogosphere, according to Max Kalehoff, vice president of marketing for Nielsen BuzzMetrics. BuzzMetrics removes spam blogs from its calculations.

The numbers say nothing about who’s getting trashed and who has the most fans. Still, in politics, you’re nobody if nobody’s talking about you.

To bring a little perspective, though, Kalehoff offers this thought:

Lately, he said, “Nothing compares to the buzz around the iPhone.”

I am officially sick of the presidential campaigns already. I may not vote for anyone who has declared at this point. I think they should be doing the people's business not running for office a month and a half after the last election. Now today Hillary will announce running? I may vote for that person who waits until May or June of '08 after the rest of this crowd has burnt themselves out flying around the country stacking up the cash.

Looks like whoever wins the first several primaries next year is guaranteed to be the next Prez.Where's little Johnnie been, clean up in aisle 7?

This has to be a milestone: A new poll has found that the American people dislike President Bush more than they dislike ... Dick Cheney. The poll — by Fox News, of all people — finds that President Bush's unfavorable rating is 58%, while Cheney's unpopularity rating is five points lower at 53%. Bush can, however, still take some small solace from the fact that his approval rating is one point higher than Cheney's; the President's is 38%, while the VP's is 37%.

Meanwhile, here are a couple of other numbers that are striking for a Fox poll: Only 39% of Americans view the GOP favorably, and 49% view them unfavorably. Meanwhile, a majority of respondents — 51% — have a favorable view of Dems, compared to only 35% who have an unfavorable view of what Fox likes to call the "Democrat Party."

Raving Loon,

Little JohnnyD has taken the Republicans beatdown in the midterm elections hard.

He now mostly posts under the names Leo T and noname.
