The warm-up show leading up to Obama's appearance in Chicago just ended, and there were some strong boos -- but not for the presidential candidate.

As U.S. Rep Jan Schakowsky introduced local and statewide office holders in attendance, the UIC Pavillion echoed with boos as the name of newly elected Cook County Board President Todd Stroeger was announced. It took Schakowsky several seconds to get the crowd back on the positive track.

State Senate President Emil Jones, one of Obama's political mentors, said the presidential candidate's experience in Springfield proved he can work with both parties. "Time and time and time, he did the job," Jones said.

U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez told those in attendance that he was in this very hall in 1983 before Harold Washington was elected as Chicago's first black mayor.

"He brought excitement to the air, just like Obama," he said. "I am so excited that we are here again...Barack Obama brings us hope and a better America for all of us."

With Obama expected to take the stage at 5:30 p.m. Chicago time, the hall is nearing its capacity of about 10,000.

Stroeger richly deserved to be booed.
Quit hiring the friends and relatives, Todd. This is not a fifteenth century feudal state.

Instead of using the term office holder, perhaps sell out would be a more apt description for the hacks ,embarassments and traitors that populate our political landscape.

James Reyes,

How about "office buyers"?

I wonder why the crowd didn't seem to have a problem with Obama having endorsed Stroeger?

Maybe they didn't, like, know about that. Maybe they should, like, totally read a newspaper now and then.

Or maybe many did know it, and figured that Barack is going to have to get into bed with a lot of unsavory types to make it to the White House... in which case that bespeaks a downright mercenary cynicism by both Obama and the Obama worshipers...

Business as usual.

Didn't Senator Obama endorse Cook County President Todd Stroger for election? How could the Senator have one his endorsed canidates be booed? Does that mean that the Senator made a faulty decision?

Barack is going to have to get into bed with a lot of unsavory types to make it to the Whitehouse... in which case that "bespeaks"? a downright mercenary cynicism by both Obama and the Obama worshipers..

"Leo",do you want me to pull up from the archives where you said, and I quote,"I like Obama and I'll probably vote for him"??

You said this less than two weeks ago "Leo".

Flipflopper???

John E asks, "Leo",do you want me to pull up from the archives where you said, and I quote,"I like Obama and I'll probably vote for him"??

John E,

Sure, Go ahead.

If you want, if it will make it easier for you, I'll repeat it here and now:

I like Obama. I also happen to think he's a human being with human flaws.

But definitely, copy and paste any qoute of mine you want to. (please include the dates for verification purposes.)

Oh, and since I've obviously confused you...

be-speak (verb w/ object): to show; indicate;

"LeoT",why don't you "bespeak" us the other part of your statement, you know the part, where you say "I'LL PROBABLY VOTE FOR HIM" i.e. Obama??

Still flipflopping huh "Leo"??

OK, "John E", I'll probably vote for him. Of course it's early and he might not even be a candidate when the primaries are over, or some new face may pop up...

What's your point?

Oh, by the way, the invitation is still open for you reproduce any quote of mine.

And I'm tickled to have you as a worshiping fan... Gosh, this must be how Barack feels!

"John E",

It's pretty obvious that you think you found a "Gotcha". Sorry to disappoint, but you haven't.

1) I still like Obama (he passes the C.Morris test of "Who-You'd-Like-to-Have-Beer-With").

2) I still think he has "baggage" -- such as he's a politician; he will evade issues or be vague when it suits him; or he'll cut a deal that feathers his own nest.

3) I still think that the majority of the people posting here are starry-eyed goofs for refusing to acknowledge Point no.2.

4) I still wish the Infotainment reporters who run this blog would be more objective and substantive about Barack... or AT LEAST change the subject occasionally. (Hey guys, how about breaking the monotony with some posts about Anna Nicole Smith?)

That's what I've been saying about Obama since Day One.

PS: Do you REALLY want to play "Gotcha", John E? Shall we then talk about the Army?

Jan Schakowsky (is her husband still in jail?, Obama, Durband, Daley, Jones, Governor Bag-full-of-it, and a few dozen other like idiots endorsed Todd Stroeger. Does it tell you anything that any one of the named have been connected to some level of corruption.
