Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, facing growing questions about the Justice Department's firing of several federal prosecutors, stopped in Chicago today to meet the press.
But he didn't stop long:
"What we're finding is, too many kids are posting personal information on the Internet,'' Gonzales said, reporting on a forum about child safety. Yet the few questions permitted centered on the prosecutor-firings, starting with a meeting that Gonzales had attended in late November to approve the dismissals, according to the latest in a series of memos and e-mails that the Justice Department has released.
"I've already discussed my involvement in the meeting,'' Gonzales said. "Let me just say this -- certainly even before the disclosure of this memo, what was public out there was the fact that there was this review process... What was also public is that I had made the decision as to the resignations of these individuals.''
Despite the fact that one of his aides plans to assert her Fifth Amendment rights in any testimony to Congress, Gonzales said he has released thousands of pages of internal documents and is sending aides to testify to Congress "to reassure the American people that nothing improper happened here.''

The exchange yesterday between the White House spokeswoman and the press was priceless. She referred the press to a transcript of a CNN report for accuracy in obtaining the truth and in the same breath said that there would be nothing gained from allowing Congress to require the White House officials testify in public w/ a transcript of the conversation.

Fredo thoroughly demonstrated his ineffectiveness today, running from the Dirksen building podium after only a few minutes of questions. They didn't even get a chance to ask him about the ratings prepared by Hyman Roth. Who ordered the hit on Frankie Pantangeli? She's alive but not testifying. Fredo has now returned home for a quiet time fishing out on the lake with his nephew, and this other, large man.
Don't get in that boat, Fredo.

Gonzo says he is "sending aides to testify to Congress 'to reassure the American people that nothing improper happened here.'" Right after his aide takes the 5th and refuses to testify on the grounds that it might incriminate her.
Is this a comedy act?

I can't read Fitzgerald's mind, but I'm sure it's something along the lines of "Someday, I'm going to squash you like a bug, you crooked little Bushie shoe-shine boy."

I didn't "dash" off the podium. An aide signaled me that I had a phone call. I thought it might be El Jefe. He hasn't returned my calls in a while (it wasn't him. I give a full explanation at

HE made the decision to the "RESIGNATIONS"??? I thought when you resigned it was your idea because you found another job or were retiring. Doesn't he mean "FIRINGS"???

Did you see this character run out of the press conference?? Run away you crooked cowardly rat. His days as Attorney General are numbered. He also needs to testify under oath. If he doesn't agree to, have him arrested for criminal obstruction of justice.
