It’s been a month since Vice President Cheney’s former chief of staff went on trial in federal court on charges of perjury, obstruction and lying to FBI agents investigating the 2003 leak of a CIA operative’s name.
And it’s been seven days since jurors began contemplating the guilt or innocence of I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby in the case that began after the identity of Valerie Plame became public knowledge in 2003.
So far, the only insight as to what is going on inside the jury room came from a note made public today. It seemed to indicate that the seven women and four men were working hard. Less clear, however, is what they are thinking.
“We would like another big Post-it pad,’’ said the note, written by the jury foreman and sent to U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton Wednesday afternoon. “The large one for the easel.’’
The jurors began their deliberations with a flip-chart, masking tape, and Post-it notes, as well as photos of the witnesses.
On Tuesday, the jury asked Walton to clarify one of the charges that Libby lied to the FBI about his conversation with Matthew Cooper of Time magazine. But on Wednesday morning, they said never mind.
"No further clarification needed. Thank you. We apologize," according to a second note to the judge.
Libby, who was Cheney’s top national security adviser, is accused of covering up his role in outing Plame as part of a White House scheme to get back at her husband, Joseph Wilson. Wilson, a former diplomat, had accused the Bush administration of manipulating pre-war intelligence to make its case for the invasion of Iraq.

Funny, no crime committed here. The only charge being alleged perjury. Who remembers what they said three years ago and to whom and on what day? I sure don't. That same thing was said all the time by the Clintoon staffers when FBI files on Republicans mysteriously showed up in the Clintoon White House or on Whitewater or Castle Grande or anything else.
And i love how Jill Zuckman contines the Talking Point that it all was done "to get back at Joe Wilson," whose report by the way has been debunked time and time again.

it's too slow.
It should post immediately with a 'remove this post' button that
kicks in a screen that asks for your reasons.
Software could screen out the 'hard cussin'.
During my technical 'hiatus' from the Swamp I discovered the
Washington Post has immediate posting.
Having said that, The Swamp is superior in every other way re.
ease of use, content, intell. of participants.
I hope Mark, Frank, Dave, William, are pushing for instant
posting.
However, I think the ChiTrib faceless suits, hidden manipulators,
and otherwise 'iron fist in velvet glove controllers', fancy the Trib
a 'family newspaper' and their worst nightmare is that some
fool Swamp Rat may get an unfiltered comment into the Swamp.

Posting has always been slow, but now most of the posts aren't even showing up, and for no apparent reason. (Or, I suspect, a nefarious reason.) They seem to be just arbitrarily trashed.
A different note:
PLEASE stop calling "Jeff", "Bill". Yes, I know ALL of the history, and why you're doing it (N.L.) so DON'T explain... but it stopped being cute a long time ago.
The guy happens to be one of the very few intelligent, well read posters here -- you should engage him on that level. You disapoint when you stoop to John E-ism.

And Catherine, do your own research for once, if you can. You always ask for links, but you make up some of the ridiculous stuff yet (though I guess while you and John E. are im mummy and duddy's basement doing whatever you to do) and never provide any links or proof.
So look for yourself. Joe Wilson's report has been debunked by everything from the Senate Select Intelligence Committee to Bob Woodward to the 9/11 Commission.

Prove it!! By your definition of "criminal," that would be mean Slick Willy should have been executed cause his true crimes make Scooter Libby look like Mother Teresa.

Tony, I had a very loving upbringing, thank you. I have generally found that the most messed up people, though are Loony Lefters. Hate America. Good question, tom.
If pushed, most of the Democratic Drones here will say that the Republicans were persecuting Clinton for a sex act -- and if a president can't be felated by an intern, then by God what has this country come to?! They conveniently ignore the perjury.
So for Republicans, the coverup is a major (impeachable even) offense. For Clinton it's just lovable ol' Bubba covering his tracks and stepping out on his nasty icy wife... and gosh who could blame him, right?
But you're too late to join up with John E. He's already over in Iraq, posting to the Swamp all day, everyday as he dodges bullets.
