The Republican National Committee's researchers are linking comments made by comedian Rosie O'Donnell and actress Marcia Gay Harden on "The View" last week to the House Armed Services Committee Democrats who, as I mentioned in an earlier posting, have banned the use of the term "Global War on Terror" from the 2008 budget documents the panel produces.
Here's the RNC press release:
NO JOKE! DEMS TAKE ROSIE VIEW House Dems Take Policy Advice From Rosie O'Donnell And Ban Use Of "War On Terror" __________________________________________________________________________Last Week, Rosie O'Donnell Attacked Use Of "War On Terror" Phrase:
Actress And Guest Co-Host Marcia Gay Harden Called The Phrase "Propaganda." "But even you worded a 'war on terror,' personally that is propaganda. ... Don't like the wording of it like that." (ABC's "The View," 3/29/07)
Rosie O'Donnell Agreed: "Exactly, Marcia Gay. Thank you. ... It makes people into evil and good." (ABC's "The View," 3/29/07)
O'Donnell: "I'm saying that in America we're fed propaganda and if you want to know what's happening in the world go outside of the U.S. media because it's owned by four corporations. One of them is this one. And you know what; go outside of the country to find out what's going on in our own country because it's frightening. It's frightening." (ABC's "The View," 3/29/07)
Click here to watch Rosie's view on the War on Terror.
Now House Armed Services Committee Democrats Ban Use Of "War On Terror":
House Armed Services Committee Memo Forbids Use Of "Global War On Terror" From Defense Bill Because "Democratic Leadership Doesn't Like The Phrase." "The House Armed Services Committee is banishing the global war on terror from the 2008 defense budget. This is not because the war has been won, lost or even called off, but because the committee's Democratic leadership doesn't like the phrase. A memo for the committee staff, circulated March 27, says the 2008 bill and its accompanying explanatory report that will set defense policy should be specific about military operations and 'avoid using colloquialisms.' The 'global war on terror,' a phrase first used by President Bush shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the U.S., should not be used, according to the memo." (Rick Maze, "No More GWOT, House Committee Decrees," Military Times, 4/3/07)
"Committee Staff Members Are Told In The Memo To Use Specific References To Specific Operations Instead Of The Bush Administration's Catch Phrases." (Rick Maze, "No More GWOT, House Committee Decrees," Military Times, 4/3/07)
"The Memo, Written By Staff Director Erin Conaton, Provides Examples Of Acceptable Phrases, Such As 'The War In Iraq,' The 'War In Afghanistan,' 'Operations In The Horn Of Africa' Or 'Ongoing Military Operations Throughout The World.'" (Rick Maze, "No More GWOT, House Committee Decrees," Military Times, 4/3/07)
Committee Aides Acknowledged The Ban Has "A Political Element." "Committee aides, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said dropping or reducing references to the global war on terror could have many purposes ... but also has a political element involving a disagreement over whether the war in Iraq is part of the effort to combat terrorism or is actually a distraction from fighting terrorists." (Rick Maze, "No More GWOT, House Committee Decrees," Military Times, 4/3/07)

Why do Republicans have to play with words and have lockstep talking points to get their message (whatever that is) across??
Most sane thinking Americans have come to the realization that the Neo-Republicans have nothing to offer other than their usual smear of others to try and make themselves look good i.e. "The Swiftboat Veterans for Truth".
The Neo-Republicans couldn't speak the truth if it hit them right in the face with a sledge hammer.
Rosie O'Donnell speaks for herself not the Democrats, don't be fooled by the impecile Republican/Fox Noise Channel talking points.

Ah, everyone says "war on terrorism" is stupid. including most generals.
You can't have a "war" against a tactic.
The "global war against terrorism" is like having a "global war against flanking maneuvers."

Dianne Feinstein(D) amd William Jefferson(D)would like their own partyline phrase,Culture of Corruption banned.

Hell, even Bush tried to change it to "the global war against Islamic extremism," until Fox News told him to change it back because it wasn't selling as well with their audience.

Jeff,
You mean "pork" like the the Republican led Congress and the W. administration gave us the last 6 years when they took a $5 trillion debt and nearly doubled it to $9.5 trillion, you mean that kind of "pork"?
This is small "peanuts" compared to that Jeff and we're trying to end your stupid war on top of that.

So now redumblicans are trying to link Rosie with the democrats.
Let's see if there's a link between Alan Keyes & the republicans.
Wait! There already is!

So what’s worse?
Rosie talking about conspiracy theories, or George Bush giving a speech at Bob Jones University?
Remember that school? An unaccredited school where they believe the pope is an agent of the devil & Catholics are going to hell? Where blacks aren’t allowed due to that taboo of interracial relationships? Where homosexuals are openly banned? Where women must be chaperoned if they go on a date & are only allowed to wear long skirts & slacks are banned?
Of course, GB spun his response by claiming he wasn’t aware Bob Jones was about all that.
Before GB stole the presidency, he was already a horrible liar.

Poor John E., no one ever taught him that two wrongs don't make a right. Don't worry, John E., without control of congressional committees I'm pretty sure you're safe from any Republican pork.
Check this out: According to Roll Call, the Democrats have completed the K-Street-ization of their party: House Energy and Commerce Chairman John Dingell (D-Mich.) on Tuesday told a group of lobbyists that leaders will be "watching corporate political action committee contributions, expecting Democrats' share to rise.”
Speaking of which, despite accusing Republicans of “fostering a "culture of corruption" in Washington and "selling access" to lawmakers”, Democrats are now enlisting their committee chairmen in an early blitz to bring millions of dollars into the party's coffers. Including fundraisers with Abramoff’s old tribal clients. Thanks, Harry!

.....am I missing anyone?...oh yeah Willam Jefferson,he should be on his way to prison with the rest of the Repulicrooks,we don't want him he acts to much like a Republican.
Speaking of "land deals" Jeffy, how's that land deal that Denny Hastert got right before he got his butt kicked out of the House Speakers job going,I hear he made a "landfall" profit.

Tom, how could you forget me? After all the money I funnelled to you and Harry? I'm having some tough times now with the public humiliation and the prison and all. You'd think that at least two guys like you and Harry, whose offices I practically purchased, would remember me. Oh, well. I'm sure some people in my firm will still help you try to win back your seat and help Harry keep his now that he's majority leader. Here's a little reminder so you don't forget me again:
"Among the biggest beneficiaries were Capitol Hill's most powerful Democrats, including Thomas A. Daschle (S.D.) and Harry M. Reid (Nev.), the top two Senate Democrats at the time, Richard A. Gephardt (Mo.), then-leader of the House Democrats, and the two lawmakers in charge of raising funds for their Democratic colleagues in both chambers, according to a Washington Post study."

Here's some other recent history:
(D)William Jefferson
(D)Dan Rostenkowski
(D)Jack Abramoff
(D)Harry Reid (did much worse than Hastert with his land deals)
(D) Marc Rich
(D) Patrick Kennedy
A shame that the loon went out into the woods with a dog that won't hunt, eh?

p.s. Still looking for the answer from the loon crowd of how, exactly, the Republicans using pork, earmarks and other corruption somehow makes it okay for the Democrats, who run a "clean up the corruption" campaign, to do the exact same thing?

Yuppie Young Repub Jeff,
How much is that radical right-wing group paying you to blog for them?
Are they making you support Sleepy McToast for Prez or is that your brainstorm?
Heck,I know the Neo-Republican talking points better than you do,where do I sign up?
Salary or hourly?

Posted by: C.Morris | April 4, 2007 6:23 PM
No one's paying me to blog for them, John E., but it's a good bet that the DNC is paying a half-literate, unwashed heathen like yourself to work for them.
Aren't accusations fun? Neither of these things have any connection to reality but we can just throw them out there all willy-nilly and see what sticks. Truth? What truth?
p.s. How's Iraq today? Is it tough to get in 8-10 blog posts while taking some kids spot in Al Anbar province like you said you were going to in January?
Posted by: Jeff | April 4, 2007 6:34 PM
John E,
Again with the "you're a PAID blogger for the RNC"? How many times are you going to treat us to that moldy chestnut?
Have you ever had an original thought in your entire life?
Are you even capable of being embarrassed?
As long as I'm asking questions... have you ever had a job?

Jeff,
I'm changing my name from Bill to Jeff and moving from Pa. to Il.
Sound familiar?
Back to the original topic since Billy/Jeff wants so badly to change the topic per orders from his right-wing blog bosses.
Rosie doesn't speak for Democrats and as far as Bill-O, Glen Butthead, Rush Limpbag, Sean Insanity, Bill/Jeff and the rest of the right-wing water carriers go, they have NO credibility themselves, they're a bunch of knuckle-dragging goons who still can't get over the beatdown
their boys suffered in the midterm elections.
These are the same idiots that were telling us about the mushroom clouds Saddam was going to be capable of if we didn't invade Iraq right away.
More bedwetting from the GOP,nothing new,ho hum.
Posted by: John E | April 4, 2007 9:33 PM
Not to state the obvious, but wouldn't this be Congress going along with Marcia Gay Harden's opinion which Rosie happened to agree with?
I suppose Rosie makes for more scandalous sound-bites though.
Posted by: Jeff V. | April 4, 2007 11:13 PM
How can you guys even respond to anything I write?
First I correct a poster for pointing out that two wrongs don't make a right, then I point out some scandalous Democrats in response to a list of scandalous Republicans.
And on other threads, I complain about name calling, then blast anybody who doesn't think like I do.
You guys must really be drinking the Kool Aid to even give me the time of day.
Posted by: HypocriticalJeff | April 4, 2007 11:26 PM
Rosie thinks the Muslim terrorists had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks. And both Rosie O'Donnell and Marcia Gay Harden are big Dem party contributors.
Ever wonder why the Democrats attract such supporters?

Someone is repeating the RNC talking points, huh?
Posted by: NJ Lawyer | April 5, 2007 1:50 AM
I'm not a fan of Rosie O'Donnell. But I have to hand it to her. Taking on her bosses at ABC?
She's got what President Bush likes to call "cajones."
Name another "celebrity" that would call out his or her boss as one of the four corporations that own the U.S. media.
Don't bother googling your search, friends. The RNC has found the only one.
Even most movie stars who complain about world conditions never call out their studios.
Thanks, RNC, for bringing Rosie's courage to our attention.

Rosie and the Dumbocraps can be linked easily as Rosie and the rest of her far left Hollywood ilk give millions upon millions to the Dumbocrat party and tell them how to govern. Rosie, Charlie Sheen and most of the Dumbocrats are traitors to the country. They are appeasers and weak. And all they do is lie, lie, lie.
Corrupt Dumnbocrats, let's not forget:
Hillary and Bill Clintoon
Jim Guy Tucker
Bob Toricelli
Democratic party of Washington State
Democratic party of Crooked County, City of Chicago, State of Illinois
Sen. Bob Menendez
Barney "Whorehouse in my condo" Frank
Gerry "I actually slept with underage House pages" Studds
Gray Davis
All the Democrats and their judges who vote against child predator penalties or let repeated child rapists go free so they can do it again.

Dear responder,
The difference is, I never hold the Republicans in Congress or the White House up as some sort of standard of ethics and decency like John E. does (still fun to throw around meritless accusations, isn't it?) does.
For instance, I've never once said Denny Hastert's clean the way that he's said Patrick Fitzgerald has "nothing on Richard M. Daley," this despite the fact that Daley's patronage chief is in prison because of a Fitzgerald investigation.
The accusation I was responding to was the child's assertion (and if you think he's anything other than a child notice how his posts are full of grade-school insults and posts about bed-wetting) that Abramoff was a Republican and gave to only Republicans. Anyone who follows the news without an agenda knows that's the furthest thing from the truth. Tim Russert and the Washington Post disproved that a LONG time ago and unlike him I provided links to back up my argument.
Johnny's assertions are always accompanied by the familiar chorus of "my side's right, look Democrats are good, Republicans are bad!" and about as much evidence and couth as you'd expect from a 6th grader.
As the evidence mounts against him he'll resort to name-calling and the old familiar attack of saying whoever it is who's just disproved his B.S. is a paid Republican blogger. As if anyone makes more posts than him.
But I don't think John E. or any of the screamers, for that matter, are paid. I just think they're sad people who need to get out more.
Posted by: Jeff | April 5, 2007 7:58 AM
John D.
What proof do you have that Bill and Hillary Clinton are corrupt? Ken Starr couldn't find any.
What proof do you have that Bob Mendenez is corrupt? There is none. It was just another "Bushie" USA doing the WH's poltiical bidding.
I think it's pretty clear that the the dumbo who is corrupt is you.

And what have the Republicans given us Jeff? Over 3200 dead soldiers (so far), over 20,000 injured and permanently maimed soldiers (so far), and the wasting of over $414 BILLION dollars (so far) - and what do we have to show for it?
-- People like McCain wearing a bulletproof vest as he walks through a marketplace, along with over 100 armed soldiers, spouting that "Bagdad is safe".
-- A military that has lost over $12 BILLION in stacks of $100 bills shipped to Iraq.
-- Recent polls that over 70% of Iraqi people AND American people want us OUT OF IRAQ.

BC, I'm not saying they are great. I'm saying I hold both sides in ill repute for getting us into this mess and it wasn't just the Republicans. Hillary, Edwards and the rest voted us to where we are today.
McCain's right, though. Things are getting better in Baghdad. I understand defeat is in your political interest, but try not to predetermine the fate of an entire country.
Here's a great report from ABC News about the changes in Baghdad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5m0q1MlQOw&eurl=

Why Rosie's the gift that keeps on giving:
Renowned metallurgist Rosie O'Donnell proclaimed on TV last week that Sept. 11, 2001, was a more significant date than most of us realized. It was, in her words, "the first time in history that fire has ever melted steel."
This, of course, came as news to steelworkers, welders, blacksmiths, firefighters, manufacturers of samurai swords and other fools who hadn't realized that steel is forged in magic furnaces using dragon breath and pixie dust.

I'd love to have a beer and a cigarette with him. Definitely an interesting guy -- but he's shown himself to be just another Cook County political hack.
I may or may not vote for him (if a miracle happens and he wins the nomination, that is.) It would depend upon who's running against him.
So WHAT is you point?
Oh, and also, Mr Racist, you tried to deflect attention from your own hateful remarks by saying that I've made racist comments about Obama.
You haven't still haven't cited an example... so you've lied yet again. No surprise there.
