This being Washington, a heavily Democratic-leaning town, it's not surprising that the gift shops near the gates at Washington Reagan National Airport are not displaying T-shirts promoting the Republican candidates for president in 2008.

But what is surprising is the offering of Democrat-promoting T-shirts:

"Barack Obama for president," read the dark blue T-shirts picturing a portrait of the smiling senator from Illinois on display at Reagan's DC Market Place.

"Hillary Clinton for president," read the black T-shirts picturing a portrait of the smiling senator from New York.

And....

"Bill Clinton for first lady," read the white T-shirts picturing a portrait of the smiling 41st president of the United States and husband of the candidate from New York.

I'm for shirts to be sold saying the airport to be named Dulles International Airport, the original name.

I'm sure 11,000 illegally fired air traffic controllers would feel some redemtion after Reagan's opportunity at busting unions.

Hey...let us have the T-shirts. The republicans have had the bumperstickers for so long. cut and run, last throes, defeatocrats, unpatriotic, and on and on.

All Aboard The Barack Obama For President Plane!!

Plane takes off @ 7:00 AM from Bruces house.

Ah once again, more looney left revisionist history. The controllers were fired because they called a for strike which was not allowed in their contract that they were signatories to. So in truth Senor Roman they were legally fired air traffic controllers. Details....details

For all of you bleeding heart liberal goofs that thought Jonn Edwards wasn't going to use his wife's cancer as a political tool...think again.
Ahhhhh,ya just can't trust those slip and fall lawyers.

Don B...or should I say John D

Airport Kiosk owners are obviously terr-r-rist sympathisers.

Why do they hate America with their T-shirts!? WHY!!!!???

Don B,

"Senor Roman"?

I don't know what history you follow, maybe it's Newt's. But I don't recall "Roman" having any Hispanic origins.

But that's ok. History is just another means for conservatives to twist facts to attempt to support their arguments. Fortunately, enough of us are smart enough to see thru that b*.

Let's start the drive to give back the original name to the airport, "Dulles", & give lost pay to all the illegally fired controllers from 81.

And allow them to unionize.

Your thinking is correct, Roman, but the airport now called Reagan was originally called National Airport and still is by those of us who find Reagan less than worthy of having anything named after him. Dulles is still Dulles, as in John Foster.

Sheesh, how could I fail to mention that it is no wonder that there should be no GOoPer stuff at National, is it? The Republicans have thwarted every attempt to give Washingtonians the right to representation in Congress. If we have to have a congress critter, so should they. Eleanor Holmes does a great job, but she should have all the rights and responsibilities of the rest of the denizens of the Hill.

give lost pay to all the illegally fired controllers from 81.

Roman..PATCO use to be union, but they blew it. They got bad advice from their B.A's and proceeded to violate their own contract. In doing so Mr.Reagan had no choice but invoke the Taft- Hartley Act. Their actions then led to precipitous drop of union wages and organization. was a 30 yr. union worker in Chicago and we saw the decline. Patco harmed organized labor greatly in fact it never recovered from that bonehead strike. Obviously you were never a union worker, and if you were, you certainly weren't looking out for union workers.

Mistakes are made. The airport is still called National Airport, as in republicans can call it whatever they want, it's still National airport.

Now, about my title "Senor Roman"? It's actually "Pan Roman" in my native, 1st language.

But that's the problem I typically run into with those who worship the "English only!" mentality.

But please, continuue with Hispanic references to me. I'm sure Hispanics reading swamp are having a good laugh.

Union technacalities aside, the airport needs to sell shirts that read "This airport was named after a man who illegally sold weapons to Ayatollah Khomeini in Iran & funded Contra terrorists in Central America who killed thousands of innocent men, women, & children".

What?

The "MITT FOR ME" t-shirts aren't selling?

Imagine that...

Right before the Super Bowl,I went to a t-shirt speciality shop to get a Bears shirt for good luck and they were also selling the Barack Obama t-shirts,so I bought one for the fun of it.Even though it's made in Tiawan,I find it very comfortable and the stitching is very sturdy.Last week when it was around 70 degrees,I wore it outside when I was bar-b-quing chicken and ribs.A little sauce accidently splattered on Barack's white shirt, but it cleaned up well,it's a very clean shirt.

I attribute the predominantly Democratic Party t-shirt display to free market forces. There are fewer people buying what the Republicans have been selling these days and that naturally is reflected in the t-shirt marketplace as well.

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a T-shirt over there
Telling me I got to wear it

I think it's time you stop, righties, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Paranoia strikes deep
Into Lucian and Fagan's life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, we come and take you away

You better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

BBBOOOOWWWWAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! The plan unfolds!!

A t-shirt slogan represents the current level of intellectuality of the Democrats. Hence the sales.

Bruce, a t-shirt slogan is more reading than most Republicans like to do, so they don't sell much. Republicans need to have their slogans read to them by Rush.

Paulo,

Did y'all finish yer babaq wit some deeelicious watermelon?

You pathetic jerk.

The beauty of this blog is that when I started reading the takeoff on Buffalo Springfield lyrics above, I knew exactly who was posting. C. Morris. These days, even Clancy can sing.

As Tom O. says, if anyone wanted to buy GOP t-shirts, I'm sure they'd be available. Market forces, ladies and gentlemen. Ironic to hear GOP free-marketeers complaining about them.

What would Reagan Do? Not pull out of Iraq before the job is done! I don't think selling T shirts in an airport is going to hurt the GOP. Shopping in an airport store ha! Losers! Go Bush!!
