The White House is "pretty close'' to naming a replacement for Paul Wolfowitz, the World Bank president who will be leaving at month's end because of his role in arranging a new, high-paying job for his girlfriend at the bank, Shaha Riza, when he arrived there.

"I think we're getting pretty close,'' White House press secretary Tony Snow told reporters aboard Air Force One today, en route to an immigration speech that President Bush was giving in Georgia.

Does the president have a short list ready?

"I think we're getting pretty close,'' Snow said.

Will the pick come this week?

"Likely, yes,'' Snow said.

With the Bush Administration's track record, the new President of the World Bank will be either Harriet Miers or Donald Rumsfeld, both spectacular failures in their last appointments.

I think it will either be Doug Feith or Richard Perle. You remember them...the primary architects of our little adventure in Iraq. I suppose that George Tenet has an outside chance though.

The Peter Principle cubed if you will.

Tony and Weinerboy - remind me not to take either of you to the track with me.

The winner is.....Robert Zoellick - worked in President Reagan's treasury - oh oh.

Foriegn policy advisor to President George W. Bush - oh oh

The swamp should have a smear job first thing in the morning.
