One wonders how Bono and the rest of the rock stars managed to get to the G-8 summit. How many fossil fuels did their limousines and private jets burn in order to get there?
Green hypocrites.

Hmmm, of the world leaders, Bono says "Bush has delivered more than he promised," and hopes Bush can persuade his fellow leaders to do more.
Bush has DONE MORE than he promised! Hear that, Loony Lefties??? Bush has DONE MORE for Africa than promised and MORE than any other country!
Bono, a liberal, but at least an honest and clear-thinking one. What a breath of fresh air, he is. Need more liberals like him, but then Bono apparently is NOT a Loony Leftist.

How much fossil fuels did the limousines and private jets burn in order to get the leaders and their entourage of security and press to a meeting that can only agree on scheduling yet another meeting for next year to decide on the issues it has been deciding on for the past few years.
Celebrities AREN'T our saviors. Having wealth in common with political figures, they ride the same line. The difference is at least their willing to point out the obvious, and not make grandiose press releases that undermine how little seems to get done in the end.
If the G8 plans to continue doing these once a year meetings to solve complex problems with leaders who have one foot in the door and one out, they should just save their energies and continue making proposals or policies until the get it right with secured conferences held through televised connections.

Political Science 301
American Government for Aging Irish Rock Stars
1. Egomaniacs do not like to be told what to do and when to do it.
2. Politicians tend to be egomaniacs (see #1) and will do nothing once the photo opportunities have passed.
3. #1 and #2 are absolute if the prompter does not vote in American elections and/or cannot verify that he/she represents a voting bloc.

John D,
You're only understanding what you choose to understand. There are plenty of liberals that speak the truth, you just choose to focus on "Loony Lefties," as your tired refrain indicates.
As a liberal myself, I have long concluded that the Bushes themselves are more left than right, but they have found a way to win coming from the right. That's a neat trick.
In fact, GH was defeated not from the left but from the right. And GW is turning conservativism on its head, what with all of the nation-building and spending like there's no tomorrow.
At the same time, the Bushes do not act without motive. There's money to be made in Africa. It's like buying good gracious in a run down community. The problem with Africa is the violence. If that ever ends, look out!

Bono complains that the Bush-Putin dispute was a distraction, then he can't control himself and makes a distraction of himself when Bob Geldoff is trying to make a point.
That's hilarious.
The truth is Africa must unite, first. It must end the violence it has with itself. That is the key to Africa's future. But Africans don't seem capable of "thinking about tomorrow."

As opposed to Americans who invade a country, and eliminate all governmental institutions there, with no plan for what comes next.
