Oh, what a flap the flip-flops on the feet of the women of the Northwestern lacrosse team caused when players showed up open-toed, heels and arches at a White House celebration for champions a couple of years back.
The winning Northwestern team returned to the White House today -- "three-peat'' champs.
And Bush, playing host to all of the NCAA championship teams on the South Lawn, was ready with amends for any feelings hurt over the flip-flop affair of 2005.
" We've got teams here that have won three championships in a row,'' Bush said to laughter on the lawn. "That would be called a three-peat. Georgia Women's Gymnastics -- (applause) -- Northwestern Women's Lacrosse -- (applause).
"I might as well go on the record, all right -- I was disappointed in the footwear,'' the president said to further laughter. "It's just too conventional, especially on a hot day. ''

THIS IS NEWS? 16 and a half months away from one of the most important elections in US history and the Trib is discussing footwear and Bush's photo ops. Let's put up some statistics on the achievement record of the Cheney administration. After 7 years in office, the neo-convicts should be able to point to ONE thing in which they have succeeded. What would that be? De-stabilizing the Middle East? Making Iraq, because of US intervention, and the Sudan, because of LACK of US intervention, the 2 most unstable countries on the globe? God bless Texas! This whole idea was weak to begin with, and now the lies, corruption, and blatant deceit are so obvious that I honestly don't see how the party of NIXON, REAGEN, BUSH, and BUSH can ever survive. People are not this STUPID. Fred Thompson? Puuuuhhhleeeezzzeee run this guy. You guys can't honestly be this stupid. I'm sure Fred Thompson is already rehearsing his script that reads: "I don't remember. I can't recall." Republican Amnesia. Hang it up you guys and give the VOTERS a chance.

Once again, the Pick-and-Choose Tribune Censors let a loony left call the president an ASS. Middle Finger is an ASS, but the real ASSES are the Tribune Swamp Censors. Apparently the Loons can use any language they want, even use the name which applies to a certain four letter word that rhymes with puck you. Somehow, though, if I was to use such language the ASSES who make up the Chicago LIBune would censor it!
