Eerie parallels in race for White House: The Swamp

The Swamp

The Gallup Poll experts note that the structure of the Democratic and Republican presidential race look remarkably like mirror images of one another.

PRINCETON, NJ -- With no incumbent president or vice president running for the 2008 presidential nominations, it is perhaps not surprising that both of the major parties have competitive races, with multiple candidates jockeying for second, if not first, place. Still, the current outlines of voter preferences in the Republican and Democratic nomination battles are remarkably similar.

According to the latest USA Today/Gallup poll of national adults, conducted June 11-14, 2007, each race is characterized by a front-runner attracting about 30% of the potential primary vote nationwide, followed by two candidates garnering about 20% support each in a close contest for second place, and a slew of weaker candidates, each supported by no more than 11%.

Continuing the parallels, the race for second place in both parties features one announced candidate who has earned fairly steady support throughout the year (mostly failing to build momentum) and one unannounced candidate with growing support, just recently pulling into a tie for second.

And while Gallup doesn't mention it, those two unannounced candidates, Republican Fred Thompson and Democrat and former Vice President Al Gore, both have ties to Tennessee while the frontrunners in either party are connected to New York. Eerie, isn't it?

"Eerie, isn't it"? Yes it is very eerie. Especially since one party has a makeup of candidates who represent the broad diversity of America, and the other represents a continuos line of more of the same - middle-aged males from the dominant ethnic group who have ruled this country since the beginning. The bright side is that the chain will be broken and America will see a profound and positive change that will make this a better country.

Here's where Bruce comes in with some pro-Republican poll results.

I still remember Brucebot trotting out polls in 06 showing the Wingnut Party not only winning the 06 election but increasing their majority in Congress.....and we all know what happened to that prediction.

The RNC robots can control some poll results just like they stole an election in 00 and 04 but the American people are showing up and voting in to large of numbers to allow them to steal elections these days.

Toughluck Wingnuts!

The only eerie thing is the way Tribune "reporters" ignore stories about how Obama is slipping in the polls and stories involving Obama and Tony Rezko.

Since Frank James didn't give article readers the actual poll numbers, which show Obama slipping, I will:

"The current Democratic front-runner is Sen. Hillary Clinton. She is favored by 33% of Democrats and independents who lean Democratic -- about average for her this year.

A USA Today/Gallup Poll conducted earlier this month found Clinton's chief rival, Sen. Barack Obama, pulling even with Clinton. However, in the current poll Obama has fallen back to a tie for second place with former Vice President Al Gore. At 21%, current support for Obama is near the low end of the support range seen for him since January, while Gore's 18% ties with an early March poll as his best result.

Former Sen. John Edwards, once tied with Gore for third place, has been stalled in the 11% to 12% range since May. The only other candidate earning the support of at least 5% of Democrats is New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson....

On the Republican side, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani has managed to hang on to his first-place position through most of 2007, but has a somewhat weaker level of support today than earlier this year. His current 28% of the vote is at the bottom of the support range seen for him since January, and is well below the high point of 44% he had in a March Gallup Poll.

A stiff battle for second place in the Republican race is now underway between veteran candidate Sen. John McCain and newcomer Fred Thompson, the former senator who only recently formed an exploratory committee to start raising funds and who has yet to formally announce his candidacy. Support for Thompson has nearly doubled since Gallup's last poll, from 11% in early June to 19% today. McCain is now at 18%. This is similar to the 19% he garnered earlier this month, and an average of 22% in two May polls, but is well below his high point of 28% last December.

Support for Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is now at 7%, lower than the 12% seen in early June but typical of the support level he has received since announcing his candidacy in February..."

The Dumbocraps may have a woman, a black and a Hispanic running, but that is where the diversity ends. All think a like. No or very little diverse thought.

Anyway, the woman is only there cause her path to power was to stay with a sexual predator of a husband. The black candidate is inexperienced and in continuing hot water over his Tony Rezko connections (something the bought-and-paid-for Chicago Tribune fails to report). The Hispanic is a nice and decent man, with a wealth of experience. He just has some screwed up ideas.

If as Frank James says the Republican and Democratic races are eerily parallel, then how come he and his Swamp colleagues write about the Democrat race 3 times as often as they do about the Republican race? Shouldn't similar races get similar coverage?

How come Frank and his collegues write about the Democrat race 3 times as often as they do about the Republican race?

Because they probably already know that you will continue to spread the Republic Party propaganda, Bruce:)

GOBAMA IN 08!

RNC Bruce,

Just post a freakin' link you plagarizing wingnut.

Maybe they should hire a psychic instead...Different polls, different results. It's too early to think any of these numbers count for anything. I'd prefer they were in their offices doing their jobs rather than running for office again...

BTW John E...are you a psychic?

It could be said that the 2 front runners for the Democrats are from Chicago.

Clinton and Obama.

Now thats a parallel.

I don't know how the rest of the Country would vote on that.

John D., first thing Richardson is a LATINO, but that's probablly too much semantics for you. Actually, he is the best qualified candidate followed by Biden. Neither is going to be #1, but they are both excellent choices for 2's. As far as polls, everyone is up in a huff over some imaginary numbers from news agencies that are trying to get people interested in politics without reporting the real news. The question is not who's ahead, but rather what the heck are they raising all that money for?!?! - oh yeah, to spend on CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC etc...to run ad campaigns and get their message out to voters. Hmmmm...

Before you Chicago fans get to thinking about a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton ticket it will NEVER happen. The Cubs would beat the Sox in the World Series before that went down! That ticket would be way too top heavy for a plethora of reasons.

As far as the Republicans, they have diversity too - they have an italian, a mormon and an actor. Far better than the moron who currently occupies 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Moving Day January 20, 2009!!!

I've had Republican propogandists tell me that people are moving out of Masssachusetts because Gay Marriage is legal in their state. His actual words were: "there's a mass exodus from Mass."

We've got to grow up and realize that the authorities will execute YOUR ASS as quickly as they will mine.

We have a Constitution!
We can't defend it without your help.

ChiTownStu, you can take your Richardson is a Latino, not Hispanic, PC-garbage and shove that up where the sun don't shine.
And as already pointed out, the Republican field has DIVERSITY in thought.
But if you want to look at the diversity issue, we'll do that.
George Bush: THE MOST DIVERSE cabinet in the history of this country. More blacks (or should I say African-Americans?) in high-ranking positions than any president prior. More Hispanics (or should I say Latinos??) in high-ranking positions than any administration prior. More women (or should I say wopeople??) in high-ranking positions than any administration prior.
But then you moron jerk Loony Leftists are afraid of conservative minorities because they show the fallacy of your ignorant beliefs.
Really, there is no greater crime against humanity than the pitiful excuse for people that is the Loony Left.
