More bad news for the Democratically-led Congress from Gallup today. Confidence in Congress has dropped to its lowest level ever.

Only 14 percent of those surveyed said they had confidence in Congress. The only positive thing in the survey, from Congress's point of view, is that confidence in other "institutions" like newspapers, the church and the medical system ,also saw their ratings fall from a year ago, as evidenced by this Gallup graph:

Gallup%20confidence%20graph.gif

This comes a day after the Gallup reported that Congress's approval ratings had fallen to 24 percent. Here's the top of Gallup's report.

PRINCETON, NJ -- The percentage of Americans with a "great deal" or "quite a lot" of confidence in Congress is at 14%, the lowest in Gallup's history of this measure -- and the lowest of any of the 16 institutions tested in this year's Confidence in Institutions survey. It is also one of the lowest confidence ratings for any institution tested over the last three decades.

Gallup's annual update on Americans' confidence in institutions shows that confidence ratings are generally down across the board compared with last year. The public's confidence ratings in several institutions, including Congress, are now at all-time low points in Gallup's history of this measure. These low ratings reflect the generally sour mood of the public at this time.

I think it was the photo of Nancy in her hijab. Being against the war is one thing but going over and groveling before the enemy is a little too much for most people.

Repubs dislike Congress categorically and without thought, because Dems are in control. This is meaningless.

Dems and Independents dislike Congress because it's not taken action to stop Murderer Boy.

This is a "perfect storm" for low Congressional approval ratings.

I don't put any stock in this poll, because Big Business, HMOs, the Medical System and Newspapers have not made any serious move to impeach the president.

Calculating the % difference from last year to this year...It shows also that the confidence of the presidency fell over 24% and confidence in the newspapers at the same % as congress. An over 26% loss. I'm not sure that congress is the only one that should be concerned.

I don't remember that...Oh wait! She was visiting just after a delegation of Republics visited Syria. But you don't mention that so I will. And I'm sorry what is the problem with showing respect for a culture? Would you have been happier if she would've worn an Oakland Raiders cap backwards? No, you can't stand her because she's a Democrat and a woman.

They forgot used car salesman and loan sharks, which would come in higher the Congress.

Nice post Janet, you nailed it.

The Neonuts like Shermie don't believe in talking to our supposed "enemys" which is why we have such a %$@**!-mess in the middle-east and the rest of the world since these mouthbreathing Neocons took over the White House in 2000.

JB posted and said:

"I don't put any stock in this poll, because Big Business, HMOs, the Medical System and Newspapers have not made any serious move to impeach the president."

- to which I reply:

And Congress has? When? How did I miss it, or wasn't it covered on CNN and MSNBC this time?

JB, none of those entities have anything to do with impeaching the president.
You weirdo Loons are so far into the World of Psychobabble Lunacy that no amount of psychotherapy or medication will ever do you deranged morons any good. About the only thing that would is euthanasia, which I am beginning to become a big fan of for people. Maybe Dr. Kervorkian was onto something, cause you folks REALLY need to be put out of your misery!

Johns W and D:

It would be better for all if we tried to elevate the discourse on this board. One way to start would be if you folks stopped playing dumb. JB's (accurate) point was that Congress is controlled by its corporate masters.

You are free to disagree with the premise, but to pretend you don't understand it further undermines your credibility.

Pelosi looked like an absolute fool on her middle east trip. First, she misrepresented to Syria Israel's willingness to engage in peace talks. Debacles like that happen when you are out of the loop at the State Department, yet want to pretend you have some type of diplomatic authority. Then she wears that ridiculous hijab. While I do believe Pelosi would make a fine dhimmi, I don't expect her to return to the middle east anytime soon to play amateur Secretary of State.

RNC Bruce,

Is Johnny "Dear" D'Luded part of your game plan or a volunteer you have to work around?

John D is a shining example of why the neo-brainwashed have run America into the ground. I might add that congress also contains republicants.

A more daunting inference of the above poll is that in every category public confidence has eroded in all of our institutions this past year. This shows the disillusionment of what is happening to our country.

Herbie -
Did you call Condoleeza Rice. the actual Secretary of State, a "fine dhimmi" and say she looked "ridiculous" when she wore a hijab while in the middle east?

John D. & John W.:

It's called "sarcasm" guys. Yeesh.

Tony, yes. I wouldn't ask a Muslim diplomat to make the sign of the cross when visiting America, and I don't expect our own to follow sexist guidelines from the Quran when they visit Muslim countries.

Janet,
She was visiting just after a delegation of Republics visited Syria.

She was not "visiting." She went there in a naive attempt to make her own foreign policy.

There was no reason for her to go there and there was no reason to put on the hijab because Assad's wife does not even wear one.

I stand by my statement that this stunt is a major reason for her low poll numbers.

Shermie,

Admit it, just like your hero Benedict Joe Lieberman, you want to take out Iraq/Iran etc. just because they have different religious belief's than you do, right?

I've seen pictures of Condi Rice and Laura Bush wearing hajibs when they've visited Middle Eastern countries - why have the Republicans been silent about those women "groveling" before the enemy?

Blaming Nancy?

Note the Dems rank MUCH higher than the Pubs in the job-approval polling
