Gallup's pollsters have a new poll out today suggesting that only 29 percent of Americans believe the U.S. is winning the war on terror. But that doesn't mean they believe the terrorists are winning either.
Here's the top of Gallup's report.
PRINCETON, NJ -- The latest Gallup Poll finds fewer than 3 in 10 Americans saying the United States is winning the war on terrorism, the lowest percentage holding this view since the 9/11 terrorist attacks. But, Americans do not believe the terrorists are winning the war, either; rather, half the public indicate that neither side is winning. Most Americans consider the war in Afghanistan to be part of the war on terrorism, but more than half reject the notion that the war in Iraq is. The public's concerns about being a victim of terrorism have been quite steady over the past two years, and views that there terrorist attacks in the country are imminent are at their lowest point in two years.
The poll also indicated that while a strong majority saw U.S. efforts in Afghanistan as part of the war on terror, only 43 percent put the Iraq War in that category.

That would be the same group of dead enders that still supports the Chimp in Chief. You really have to wonder about these folks. It must be tiring to keep up a continuous mental force field (or tinfoil hat, if you will) which repels all factual evidence.

June 21, 2007 - In 19 months, George W. Bush will leave the White House for the last time. The latest NEWSWEEK Poll suggests that he faces a steep climb if he hopes to coax the country back to his side before he goes. In the new poll, conducted Monday and Tuesday nights, President Bush’s approval rating has reached a record low. Only 26 percent of Americans, just over one in four, approve of the job the 43rd president is doing; while, a record 65 percent disapprove, including nearly a third of Republicans.
Clinton left office with nearly a 70 % approval rating.
What's left to discuss?

Loon,
The Commander Guy is only three percentage points away from tying tricky Dick Nixon for the all-time low Prez approval rating record.
Come'on Chimpy, you can do it!
PS - they still love the Decider in Utah and the deep South (Ga,Ala,SC etc).
I've always suspected that these people where brain donar's, now I have concrete conformation of that theory.

John E.,

What, people don't think we're winning the war on a tactic?? That's odd.

In related news, news that the Tribune won't print, MSNBC, a bastion of the left, did a survey of the political contributions of journalists. The key finding: of 144 journalists who made political contributions, 125 contributed to Democrats, only 17 to Republicans, and 2 contributed to both parties.
This 7-1 Dem to Rep ratio may explain why media reporting, such as that in the Swamp, shows such a left wing bias.

Are 71% of America Defeatocrats or are they enlightened? Listen to the pathetic arguments by the 29% dead enders and you will know.

Bruce/JFK Democrat/Former Leftist,
When will you attack the accuracy of reporting instead of the political contributions?
Posted by: jethro | June 22, 2007 4:07 PM
If the journalists contributions survey was done recently, I'm not surprised and it doesn't show liberal bias. The Dems are getting more from everyone, media, corporate, and individual, since the republitards have shown themselves to be abysmal leaders, corrupt to the bone, intellectually and ethically challenged, and morally corrupt. Everyone is giving them money. Get it? It doesn't show a bias, so much as a conscious decision to change course and try to bring someone else to power to right the ship. (Of course, the D's totally screwed that up in spades by missing so many important pieces of legislation. Sigh.)

RNC Bruce,
Don't today's talking points make you want to just put a bag over your head?

That is absurd. The Dems may be doing a little better than the Reps in contributions right now, but certainly nowhere near 7-1.
The reporters and editors in the mainstream press are biased in favor of the Democrats. This NBC report is just one more piece of evidence in a long, long chain. I cannot believe anyone even bothers disputing it anymore.

Ok...Let's assume that the media is liberal. The republicans are holding our government hostage and performing against the will of the people...so.....how about a trade? You can have the media, just return our government back to the people.

Alqueada (all 5000 of them) hated our freedom. That was then. Now we have hundreds of thousand of people who hate us for killing their family members. If giving them justifiable, articulate reasons to hate us is a measure of winning, then we are.

The problem with the rabid right is that they keep referring to the war in Iraq as the war on terror. The terrorist are in places like London, Barcelona, Hamburg, and Algiers and Detroit. We should be working with agencies all over the World to roll up all of the cells located around the World. When Iraq is resolved either the Sunni or the Shia will kill all the terrorists they can find because of the threat they are to the new regime.

"Jethro", most adults (though not yourself) are able to understand the correlation between biased reporters, based reporting, and the shaping of public opinion.

RNC Bruce,
At what point do you advocate the truth and heaven forbid, candor, coming into play?
If ever?
Posted by: Doug Zook | June 23, 2007 2:14 PM
Bruce:
Did it ever occur to you that the reporter bias (if there is one--actually it has been proven that a majority of reporters are liberal on social issues and conservative on economic issues) might come from the fact that reporters are better informed than the average citizen and can see through the Bush & Co. dissemblings.
