Good morning.

Here are a few Washington events of note for Friday, June 1, 2007 as collected by the Associated Press.

The Labor Department is releasing the unemployment report for May, while the Commerce Department is releasing the the April report on personal incomes and spending. 8:30 a.m.

2 p.m. VIOLENT CRIME — Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is announcing an expanded effort to fight violent crime in an address to ATF employees. Also participating will be ATF Acting Director Michael Sullivan and Marshal's Service Director John Clark.

8 a.m. HEROES CAMPAIGN — The American Red Cross holds its “Heroes Breakfast” to kick off the 2007 Heroes Campaign to raise funds for troops and communities.
Location: Marshall Academy, 7731 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church.

9:30 a.m. POWELL — Former Secretary of State Colin Powell speaks at the graduation for Forestville Military Academy.
Location: Show Place Arena, Upper Marlboro.

10 a.m. FARMERS MARKET — Deputy Agriculture Secretary Chuck Conner opens the 12th Annual Farmers Market.
Location: Outside USDA, 12th St. and Independence Ave. SW.

12 p.m. BROADBAND — The New America Foundation holds a discussion on the expansion of high-speed wireless broadband services, with economist Gregory Rose, Rick Shitt of Google, Janice Obuchowski of Frontline Wireless, others.
Location: Room 253, Russell.

12 p.m. HATE CRIMES — Public Advocate organization sponsors a street theater with the Thought Control Police arresting a man claiming to be Moses and a Teletubby to protest the proposed hate crimes bill.
Location: Entrances to the Dirksen building.

12 p.m. PROSTHETIC TECHNOLOGY — Walter Reed Army Medical Center patients demonstrate the latest in prosthetic technology, as part of a three-day Military Amputees Advanced Skills Training workshop.
Location: Wagner Gym, at the hospital, 6900 Georgia Ave. NW.

12:30 p.m. HURRICANE SEASON — FEMA Director David Paulison kicks off the official start of the hurricane season with a videoconfernce between FEMA and state partners in hurricane-prone states.
Location: FEMA National Response Coordination Center, 500 C St. SW.

5 p.m. MARINE-PROTEST — Marine Corps reservist Adam Kokesh holds a news conference to discuss his impending military hearing regarding his participation in an anti-war rally.
Location: Union Station.

Interesting how this verbiage has changed. Not sure what to make of it. Does this mean that posts will show up instantly for approved people?
