Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards has raised more than $9 million during the past three months, a fundraising pace that has slowed since the first quarter of the year but is likely to sustain his place among the three Democratic candidates with the greatest financial strength.
About an hour before the midnight deadline that ends the second-quarter reporting period for campaign contirbutions, the Edwards campaign sent out an e-mail to supporters announcing the candidate had achieved the $9 million goal he set for himself earlier during the week.
Still, the total was well short of the $14 million he raised during the first three months of the year.
Campaign manager David Bonior sent out the e-mail saying that the campaign passed the mark at 8:51 pm, with a contribution from "Janet" of Clayton, Ind.
Bonior claimed in the e-mail that Janet was was the 95,212th person to contribute to the campaign and went on to urge supporters to donate in order to reach 100,000 donors by the midnight end of the reporting period.

Edwards is so focused on raising money that he lowered himself to directly address Ol' Short Black Skirt.
That's pitiful.
If Edwards isn't able to get his message out, it's because the public isn't buying it. They want Clinton Candy or Obama Sheen.
Edwards best bet is to get the VP selection - again. Which would make for a nice comedy, "The Man who would be VP." Heck, it's got to be better than "According to Jim."

It's now all about money. Time to starve the beast. Don't you think that this eternal quest for money skews influence?

Definitely a blowback from anniecolter. The more she makes fun of him, the more media he gets. Personally, I think his campaign had Elizabeth call in to make him look more sympathetic against the cruella de'coulter.

If you buy into the beast, you become a part of the beast. Candidates shouldn't spend any time taking on two-bit trash-talkers. Stick to the issues and let the voters decide if your issues are their issues. If you can't get through the media filters (all-Paris, all-the-time, etc..) then another few million isn't going to do the trick. It's only going to result in the loss of your credibility.

I wonder how those hugs with Danny Glover are helping him?
