Rudy Giuliani will probably skip the CNN/YouTube debate of Republican presidential hopefuls in Florida in September, a Giuliani campaign aide said today.

Giuliani is “unlikely to participate due to scheduling conflicts,” the aide said, speaking on background.

Only Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex.) so far have agreed to participate in the debate.

Giuliani’s decision to skip it may be joined by Mitt Romney and other Republican contenders — which could either give McCain and Paul a unique forum or lead to the cancellation of the debate.

Kevin Madden, Romney's spokesman, told the Associated Press the former Massachusetts governor has seven debate invitations over a span of 11 days in September.

“We haven’t committed to any of them yet,” Madden said.

The debate was announced last Friday by YouTube, CNN and Republican Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, who called Monday’s Democratic showdown featuring questions by people in their homemade videos “the people's debate.”

Already, more than 400 questions directed to the GOP presidential field have been uploaded on YouTube.

But Romney has been critical of the CNN/YouTube Democratic debate, which featured among other videos one of a snowman asking about global warming.

“I think the presidency ought to be held at a higher level than having to answer questions from a snowman,” he said earlier this week.

Republican candidates might as well kiss off the young vote.

They're going 65 Democrat-35 Republican.

The young vote has seen the rascist, homophobic, holier than thou Republican Party and they don't like what that they see.

A better future, a better tommorow, a more just promise for America and the world is through the Democratic Party.

After watching some of the democrat debate (I couldn't stomach the whole thing) and see questions from Frosty the Snowman and a question about slave reparations, I really wouldn't blame them if they skipped it.

However, if they did, the MSM will spin it as the canidate not being in touch with the American people.

I think that will be a big mistake. I think they will take a lot of flack for missing the new format that most Americans agree was better than the old softball debates.

BUSTED !!!

I knew the lockstep Republic Party members wouldn't answer questions in an open forum like this.

Ron Paul will probably be the only one who shows up.

If there is any more question as to why we should not elect another Republican as President in 08 this should answer it for you.

We all are heartbroken over this...who will remind us of 9/11 if Rudy the Hero is not there and I guess Romney would rather do the debate on Facebook instead.

To quote TPM.com
"if they can't face Youtube, how can they face the terrorist?"

Yes, but NY Firefighters might say something unkind to Rudy! And someone might point out Mitt's inconsistencies! We can't have that now, can we?

Some "Real Person" might ask Gigiloani how he came to marrying his cousin and it took him 14 years to figure out that's a no no.

And they might ask Rommel why he hid during VietNam with the hated French.

Afraid of the real questions...and they want to be President. Sounds like they can't face realty or handle the truth.

Rudy has already had enough YouTube exposure with the 'dressed to kill' video, I guess.

And Willard looks more and more like a Release 1.0.0 cyborg; not much of the human tough there.

Heaven help the poor Republics who actually might interface with real people instead of wingnuts.

Are we sure Romney didn't say he was skipping the MySpace debate? I am waiting for Bruce to publish his press release for final clarification.

The Dem debate was NOT a "you Tube" debate. It was a CNN (Clinton News Network) debate, with the selector of the questions (CNN) in control.

And virtually nobody watched it.

The only effect of the "debate" was that it gives extremists like DNC "Doug Zook" yet another excuse to replay his tired "anyone who disagrees with me is racist" bit.

Big Deal: That's right Big Deal. They are front runner puppets for Fred Thompson anyways. They would humiliate themselves and wouldn't answer candid questions fairly or Presidentially. They couldn't, it would be like confessing adultery all over but Live on Late Night TV. Neither one are ready for real questions. Just think it took Mitt up until last week to finally pull some money out of the kids piggy bank to get the nerve to talk to the public. Rudy has no shame so its easier for him. You don't see him in the streets of New York. You don't see him around firefighters trying say VOTE FOR ME.

Maybe the referee fix is already in and the DOJ has that "VOTE" covered with your Secretary of State in your state and they are not worried.

You don't see them asking for the "College" Vote. Why, because they already voted to raise their interest rates and got the money from the lobbyist to ensure that your child uses X financial instead of America Financial who charges less.

No Vote is a Go Vote for these two men. Plus I wouldn't want my dad to end up President if I knew he literally kicked my mom his wife to the curb for his cousin or his secretary. What is That, no What is THAT?

I wonder who really envies whom here. Rudy or Mitt hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

RNC Bruce,

Tell it to the black members of Congress.

The republicans have now taken their stance on not negotiating with the radical states, they now won't talk to the American people. Boy these guys will be a breath of stale air.

"Catcher's Mitt" is just worried he'll show up at the "My Space" studio.

Seriously, though, one must be concerned with Romney's memory. He reminds me of Ronald Reagan in some ways and I'm afraid he, too, will get confused in time.

"Did I say bomb Syria? I meant I'd like some cereal."

Good to see nothing has changed while I was on vacation.

Why has nobody compared this to D's skipping the Faux Noise Network debate? Wingnuts called them scared or worse. Now all of a sudden the republicrites are entitled to skip a debate and the the chickenhawks find all sorts of excuses for that.

And this is the second debate the republitards skipped - they also managed to miss the NAACP debate. So it is frightened republitards, losing 2 to 1 for the battle to communicate with the least few Americans.
