KEOKUK, Iowa -- Sen. Barack Obama started his two-day campaign swing across southeast Iowa with an event here under a warm summer sun.
"I'm practically home in Illinois," the Democrat told several hundred gathered on the playground of an elementary school in this Mississippi River town.
Obama picked up the endorsement of a local county attorney, Mike Short, as the two stood in the bed of a Ford flatbed pickup. "The senator does not have the longest resume, but he has the right resume," Short told the crowd.
Obama only spoke for about 20 minutes and did not answer any questions from the audience, although he did meet with a few local reporters as is tradition. He said he is learning his way around the Iowa caucus process.
"You gotta lift the hood and kick the tires a bit. Take us for a test drive," he said.
Obama gave his standard stump speech, although aides were promising at least a few scraps of news later in the day.

Well, that settles it. Mike Short has announced his endorsement for president. He says Obama has "the right resume." Ha! Argue with that all of Obama-haters.

Barack Obama likes to make chili and is a pretty good poker player.
Hawkeyes love to eat chili while playing poker.
Barack Obama will be the next POTUS.

weinerdog--I remember when Keokuk didn't have any liquor, but across the river in Gulfport! It has to be the only town I know (or at least it did 50 years ago) that had more bars than people.
