The Des Moines Register has started to post the video from its editorial board meeting on June 18 with Sen. Barack Obama.
The video segment focuses on Obama's thinking in advance of giving a 2002 speech in opposition to the invasion of Iraq. He jokes that part of it was "luck," but also says his position was informed, among other things, by his experiences of visiting and living overseas.

Viewed it. Obama doesn't say much of substance, but he waves his hands around a lot.

Bruce,
Do you ever have something meaningful to add to the discussion other than your usual inane rantings against Obama/liberal media etc?
You've complained about Obama and the Swamp so often that no one takes you seriously on here anymore.

You say:
"Viewed it. Obama doesn't say much of substance, but he waves his hands around a lot."

Which candidate has addressed the war in the detail you desire?

RNC Bruce,
Last March John McCain said Baghdad is safe. Is he wrong?

"Doug", "Tony", "John E."--assuming you actually are separate people, did any of you view the Obama video? Or are you too busy with your hatred to bother to view it?
If any of you viewed it, please explain exactly what great insights it contains.

You guy's should lay off whinerdice, he's just following orders. Inasmuch as NewsBusters.Org, whose mantra is (exposing and Combating Liberal Media Bias), and Redstates.com, American Spectator, and other havens of right-wing rants want all media to have a "conservative" slant, they count on bruce and his army of RNC stooges to bring their "fair and balanced" perspective over to MSM. If you don't think that these folks consider all MSM as liberal bastions of commo-pinky liars, take a gander at their blogs, or even the headline of their blog topics. Bruce sites these sources as legitimate news yet is always whining about how topics are framed on the Swamp. Some examples:
From The American Spectator:

The case against "Scooter" Libby was a total fraud. (Reposted from 7/3/2007 7:55 p.m.)

How about this "balanced" article from NewsBusters:
What are 100,000 Trees among Friends?
Posted by Dan Gainor on July 8, 2007 - 07:06.
Live Earth or Live Al (as opposed to the version we’ve always seen) was a laugh riot. Lots of know-nothing rockers interspersed with juvenile Youtube-esque videos made for a day few could survive without nausea. It was a celebration of hypocrisy on a global scale and for NBC it was a marathon contribution to lefty causes. (Anyone think the Fairness Doctrine would ever stop something left-wing like this?)
The kicker comes courtesy of our friends at Sunday’s Washington Post. Matt Bellamy from the band Muse called the event “private jets for climate change.” And John Buckley of Carbon Footprint, an eco group that helps firms cut their footprint, said “We would have to plant 100,000 trees to offset the effects of Live Earth.”
If any of this sounds familiar, it should. Bruce's rants aren't even original. "Libune", "The Slimes", the "Left Coast Times" are part of the regular derogatory right-wing references to MSM. The topics bruce tries to cram down our throat each morning are the day's headlines from these same "balanced" sources.

RNC Bruce,

And there is the return of Doogie Zook.
Dt, I call the Tribune the LIBune, not Bruce. And I do not get my headlines or talking points from the American Spectator (you should try reading it sometime, it may open your mind some), the RNC or anywhere else. Can you say the same for yourself? Do you get your talking points from moveon.org, DNC, dailykos, keith olbermann?
Do you consider Mark Silva and Frank James to be balanced?
And, dt, several months ago there was an article on the American Spectator denouncing the treatment of animals raised to be food. For a "right wing" and "unbalanced" outfit like AS, that really seems mean and unfair, huh?
dt, and the rest of you clueless left wing peons, there is more diversity, balance and factual reporting in any conservative news outlet that your favorite sources or any mainstream news source ever could aspire to!
Posted by: John D | July 9, 2007 11:49 PM
Then why do you keep reading the Trib John D?
Posted by: Marko | July 10, 2007 10:34 AM
Once again Bruce dodges a simple direct question.
He throws in a hatred claim for an added florish.
Pretty funny coming from a guy who only posts to attack Obama, and in response to the simple question of who he has a more postive attitude towrd.

John D,
Re: The American Spectator. Two words; Arkansas Project. Open mind?, please.
Re: "Your baby." Bruce has used the "Libune" reference but I would never suggest that he was the author of that, oh so clever term. Stand tall, stand proud, Dyslin.
"Do you consider Mark Silva and Frank James to be balanced"?
Yes. I think they are centrist. I also think that you and bruce and sherm, (where is he, has he morphed into hillaryis44?)unfairly criticize the Tribune for running more articles on candidates with Illinois ties (Obama) than others. Why wouldn't they?, these people represent your state.
"Do you get your talking points from moveon.org, DNC, dailykos, keith olbermann"?
Not only don't I get my talking points from them, I don't even read them unless I'm linked to an article from somewhere else. Then I look at the credentials of sources they quote before I form any opinions. It's not that I don't think there is valid information there, I just don't like to be spoon-fed my news, I prefer MSM.
dt, and the rest of you clueless left wing peons, there is more diversity, balance and factual reporting in any conservative news outlet that your favorite sources or any mainstream news source ever could aspire to!

John, are you condescending to the "peons" again? Is that why you're so enamored with the "ruling class"?
And John, you know, when you claim that sites like Redstates.com have more balance and factual reporting that MSM you lose all credibility. Not that you had any to begin with.
John D., why are you so angry? You've got your war, you've got your tax cuts, you've got your hate radio, you've got that lovely home in that lovely community of Streamwood (and no doubt the most efficient and well-maintained HVAC system anywhere). You're only 42, so you can still make the "big show" in Iraq. And don't use that medical deferment excuse. They don't care how hobbled you are, or how many Ding Dongs you've consumed. As long as they can use you as cannon fodder for a civil war, you're good to go, Dyslin. And, don't forget to turn off the air conditioning before you head down to the recruiting station. CIAO.
