Invitations have been sent out for what promises to be a must-attend event for much of California's Democratic elite, particularly those in the entertainment industry: a Sept. 8 fundraiser for Barack Obama at Oprah Winfrey's home in the Santa Barbara area.
In the best tradition of Hollywood, the e-mail touting the afternoon gathering doesn't mince words, promoting it as no less than "the most exciting Barack Obama event of the year anywhere ..."
Getting in the door costs $2,300 --- the maximum individual contribution for the primary season. But, as is usually the case at such high-profile shindigs, there are incentives to gain a little extra face-time with the candidate.
Those who can tap friends and relatives for contributions that total at least $25,000 gain entree to a VIP reception, according to the invitation; those responsible for at least $50,000 in donations make the cut for a VIP dinner.
The workers at the Santa Barbara airport best rest up before the fundraiser; we're guessing the tarmac there is going to be packed with private jets.

I'd love to see the "carbon footprint" left by the limousines and private jets of these Hollyweird Democrats.

RNC Bruce,
Does that include Hollwood teasin' Fred Thompson's little red rented pickemup truck?

RNC Operative,
You have to start somewhere Brucie and guys like you who still believe that the earth is flat are only getting in the way of progress.
Where I come from they'd call you "roadkill", Bruce.

Bruce, how much of a carbon footprint does Daddy Shrub's speedboat leave behind when they take people like Putin fishing? How much carbon footprint is left behind by the boats needed for the Secret Service to tag alongside?

Hey Bruce,
Why don't you make yourself useful and go to the new terror threat story and post the RNC talking points. See if you can dig up John D too so he can call people who've posted there loons.
Best Regards.

OK, oh masters of the snappy comebacks. Let me clear this up for you: Bruce is saying that those who most loudly cry out with concern about global warming and humanity's influence upon it, often do not practice what they preach, as they drive in large automobiles and may fly in private jets, which are devices commonly blamed for enhancing global warming. Therefore, Bruce is calling them hypocrites. He IS NOT actually concerned about the impact of the use of large automobiles and private jets upon the environment. Therefore, he is also not concerned with "Hollwood teasin' Fred Thompson's little red rented pickemup truck" or "Daddy Shrub's speedboat." OK, please resume discussion.
