The Associated Press is reporting that Democratic presidential candidates will appear at Chicago's Soldier Field next month for an AFL-CIO presidential forum.
The nation's largest labor federation originally planned to hold its forum at the McCormick Place convention center, but more than 12,000 union members wanted to attend, so the Aug. 7 event is being moved outside to Soldier Field to ensure there is enough room.
The AFL-CIO represents about 10 million workers in more than 50 unions. Its executive council will decide after the debate whether to start its endorsement process during the Democratic presidential primaries or wait until later.
The AFL-CIO's web site is still listing McCormick Place as the location of the forum, but this link has the details.

With the pay and benefits of jobs declining in America, I hope a substantial amount of time is spent on the subject.

For a look at how the Union movement has strayed from its roots, see the Washington Post article on how the Carpenters Union doesn't bother to go on the picket line anymore. Instead, it hires the homeless, at $8 per hour, to do the chanting, sign-carrying and protesting for them.
