As of Tuesday, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) will be up on the air in Iowa with her first commercial. But she’s not running against any of her Democratic opponents here. Rather, she’s going after President Bush, an easy target who won’t be on the ballot in 2008.
“As I travel around America, I hear from so many people who feel like they’re just invisible to their government,’’ Clinton says in the ad as an announcer notes that she has “spent her life” fighting for people who others don’t see.
“You know, if you’re a family that is struggling, and you don’t have health care, well, you are invisible to this President,’’ Clinton continued.
The same goes for single moms trying to find affordable child care, and soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, she asserts. (See the ad.)
“Americans from all walks of life across our country may be invisible to this President, but they’re not invisible to me and they won’t be invisible to the next President of the United States,’’ said Clinton.
Going on the air in Iowa is significant.
At one point, Clinton’s campaign thought she wouldn’t have a chance in the state that sets the tone for the rest of the country with its caucuses.
But today, after reorganizing her staff and bringing former President Bill Clinton to campaign with her in the state, Clinton is virtually tied for first place with Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, while former Sen. John Edwards appears to be losing steam in third place.
The commercials mark the beginning of a busy week for the Democratic presidential contenders, who basically ceded Iowa to Republicans and their straw poll in Ames last week. With the Iowa State Fair in full swing, candidates are scheduled to drop by virtually every day.
In addition, Edwards began a three-day bus tour of the state today while Obama, Illinois' junior senator, begins his own multi-day bus trip in Iowa on Wednesday.
All of this is leading up to a nationally broadcast debate among the Democratic contenders Sunday morning on ABC's This Week that is taking place at Drake University in Des Moines.

The Republic Party goons are fooling themselves if they think can beat Hillary, there are a lot of Dems out there, like myself, who will support her if she wins the nomination if only because we don't want another Republican wanker in the White House.
Be careful what you wish for, Neonuts.

Wow, the tremendous insights of a true wanker, the Deranged, Demented, Weird, Jobless John E.
And there are plenty of us on the right that will do whatever we can to make sure Hillary remains "invisible" to the White House.

Little Johnny Manboobs, that's exactly the reason why people are leaving the Republican Party in droves.
The Mouthbreahing Republic Party members, like you, operate on fear and smear and you still fail to realize that the American people have already figured this out.
The gig is up, Little Johnny.

Senator Clinton, I would love to be invisible to our gov't. It's not as bad as seven yrs ago as far as having the gov'ts hands in my families wallet, but its still bad.
John E - I thought it was Senator Boy Wonder that the GOP would have to beat? Have you given up already?

Trickle Down Terry,
Myself, like a majority of Americans, don't want another Wingnut Republican in the White House.
As is usual, you miss the whole point, beanie boy.

Repubs hate the Clintons because they beat them at their own game twice so far, and I wouldn't be surprised if they have a hat trick in them. That being said, is Bush-Clinton all we got in this country? Jeeze. Oh, and Jonny D, living in your parent's basement does not qualify as a job, so get off the dole and start contributing to those to those increased federal revenues you keep touting.

"KARL MAY BE ON EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE VACATION" BUT NOT AMERICA AND ITS HILLARY!
YEA HOORAY, YEA, WHAT A BETTER GOP TARGET THAN OLD FAITHFUL GEORGE.
ITS ABOUT TIME, WITH 23% OF GE AND HALLIBURTON VOTES LEFT, WHY NOT CRUSH THE MAN THAT HAS CRUSHED AMERICA AND ITS CONSTITUTION. WHY NOT GO AFTER THE BLUNDERING EGOTISTICAL EGOIST OF ALL MANKIND AND WOMANKIND ALIKE.
THIS IS A NO BRAINER, HE IS THE SPOKESPERSON OF THE GOP. HE PROMISED TO UPHOLD THE CONSTITUTION AND HAS ONLY UPHOLDED THE GIFTS OF GOLD, MONEY, LAND, AND PEOPLE (mariana islands). YES THE HANDS OF BUSH PROMISED PEOPLE TO PEOPLE. ENDEAVORED SLAVES, ENDEAVORED PRISONERS (gitmo) ENDEAVORED SUPREME COURT.
AN EGREGIOUS, SECULAR, CRIMINAL MINDED MAN WHO HAS STOOD FOR NOTHING BUT CIRCUMVENTING THE LAW AND THE DESTRUCTION OF THE CONSTITUTION.
HE HAS EXTENDED EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE OVER THE LAW. LIKE SADAAM HUSSEIN OVER THE VERY DESERT DIRT THAT HIS COUNTRY WALKED ON. HE HAS NO WMD HE JUST HAS STUPIDITY, AND CORRUPTION THAT LEADS HIS AUGMENTATED MINDED GOVERNMENT. WHATEVER THAT IS.
I HAVE A MOM, AND MY MOMS VOTE WILL COUNT.
SO IF ATONEMENT TO THE WHITE HOUSE AND THE CONSTITUTION IS THE KEY TO HILLARY'S SUCCESS. THEN MAKE IT SO NUMBER ONE.
BECAUSE IN BUSH'S BORG CAMP "ASSIMILATION IS FUTILE" AMERICA.
LONG LIVE NANCY PELOSI!

Hillary once let her friends know that maids are people too. I bet that quote is somehow not mentioned.

Does anyone still have any doubt that the presumptive Democratic nominee, Hillary/Bill, was etched in concrete in 2000? I think it is arrogant and presumptive of Hillary/Bill to think they have this nomination aced. Change means change in plain English, and the only way that this country can look forward is to cut ties to the past epitomized by the Hillary/Bill campaign.

John E,
As usual you don't make a point. Go back to the sand box.
Tell all of us how you contribute to this economy. Doctor? lawyer?

here we go - the RECORD BREAKING ONE BILLION DOLLAR CAMPAIGN IS ABOUT TO BEGIN - H.C. WILL SPEND THE BETTER PART OF ONE BILLION DOLLARS TO BECOME OUR NEXT PRES. most of this will be spent distorting the truth in a true Orwellian fashion (not that others haven't done this before just never on this scale - so this will indeed become the greatest case of the "pot calling the kettle black" in all of human history) the sad part is - it will probably work - STEP ONE - ATTACK SOMEONE WHO WILL MOST ASSUREDLY NOT BE YOUR OPPONENT - STEP TWO - ATTACK HIS RECORD ON MATTERS WHERE YOU VOTED FOR HIS PROPOSALS - STEP THREE MORE OF THE SAME B.S. UNTIL YOU HAVE SPENT NEARLY A FULL BILLION - MORE THAN TRIPLE ANY OTHER CANDIDATE IN HISTORY - LAST STEP - PRETEND YOU DIDN'T BUY THE ELECTION

Hillary will be the first candidate to get a "twofer" on her commercials, since the
Republicans will also be using them later in their campaign. Just turn down the
screeeeeech control.

tom,
Your vitriol for Hillary Clinton is and always has been over the top. I'm no fan, but she is hardly the devil-incarnate that she is caricatured to be.

Bryan
obviously I am no fan of Hilary's - once was, but never again - nevertheless, despite the fact that I often make "over the top" remarks about Hilary, I do not equate her with Satan (yet) and I completely stand by my description of her campaigning style to come which will; a) blow the doors off of all candidate spending precedents and records by far and b) be followed by a "what are you talking about, I didn't buy the election ?" attitude and PR campaign - that is not an exaggeration - that is not "over the top" - what bothers me about it is not that she will do it but that she will pretend she didn't - that is her style and in my mind that is why she will be a poor leader - it hardly makes her Satan (more like an Orwellian dictator in sheep's clothing like in the 1984 Obama / Nike ad) - my comments about her running from her and Bill's own record are also true and NO candidate among the current DEM field will continue to attack a NONopponent (Bush) longer and louder than Hilary has and will - truth is - it is probably smart because it will probably work - but the bad part is , she will be part of the problem in DC not the solution because she will put winning ahead of problem solving and appearances ahead of action.

It is hillary clinton, herself, who is invisible.
Smash-mouth surrogates Howard Wolfson and Philippe Reines, slick Madison Ave. sales pitches like 'Invisible,'--(note the irony)--schmoozes with sycophants like Rosie, Larry and Letterman, silly Hollywood productions like 'Commander in Chief," create the ILLUSION of accessibility.
All while missus clinton, herself, is never available for vetting.
She is never questioned by objective reporters or unscreened voters, she makes sure the 120 pages of the Barrett report that document her massive abuses of power (and women) never see the light of day, she has blackballed authors who write unfavorable bios, and now we learn, she buries all her documents from the clinton White House years.
She did the same thing with her thesis. (WHY HILLARY'S MAGICALLY APPEARING THESIS IS LIKE CLINTON'S FOLEY HIT JOB (and not like her Rose Law billing records); also: IS THE WOMAN WHO HID HILLARY CLINTON'S MAGICALLY APPEARING THESIS GETTING HER ORDERS FROM CLINTON-MACHINE LAWYERS?)
The clinton jackboot is alive and well.
Missus clinton's invisibility should be a red flag for anyone toying with actually voting for the Stalinist.
We must get released and to the voters those redacted pages of the Barrett report, as well as her White House papers; both document hillary clinton's massive abuses of power, ineptitude and perfidy.
The last thing this country needs is this reflexive kleptocrat, this abuser of women and power, this mediocrity, this defective.
P.S.
With a Q score—a measure of celebrity likability among the hoi polloi—in the toilet, missus clinton can win elections only by running virtually unopposed.... and then only with the help of protheses, props, poses, PR machines, scripted appearances, screened audiences, vetted questions, Secret Service barracades, secret police, speech coaches, softball settings and sycophantic hosts, fictionalizing, 'humanizing,' digitizing and otherwise hiding the real hillary clinton.
And then we have the baggage....
Anyone else but a clinton would have been summarily laughed off the stage.
