Democratic presidential contender Hillary Rodham Clinton used an audience of national police officials in Chicago today to criticize President Bush for federal spending plans that treat law enforcement like they are "invisible."
Speaking to the National Association of Police Organizations at a downtown hotel, the New York senator took a veiled shot at rival John Edwards by saying she was not "one of those who believe there is no war on terrorism." Edwards, a former North Carolina senator, in May called the phrase "war on terrorism" a "bumper sticker" slogan for the failings of the Bush presidency.
Clinton said she was "getting tired" of watching Bush lauding law enforcement in various speeches while cutting federal funding in his budget proposals—particularly after what she said were gains made in fighting crime under her husband's administration.
"Honestly, it is like the police officers of our country--along with your families who stand with you every single day in the dangerous and difficult work you do--are invisible to the president," Clinton told the audience. "You know, it's like he just looks through you instead of seeing you on the front lines. In the war against crime and the war against terrorism, it's like he doesn’t see you at all."
Recounting her tour of "Ground Zero" the day after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, Clinton said she appreciated the additional workload being conducted by first responders. She promoted efforts to achieve a federal law allowing police to collectively bargain and to help those injured on the job.
Noting rescue workers who later became severely ill or, in some cases, died from toxins at the World Trade Center site, Clinton said, "This was an act of war and you don't leave people on the battlefield."

Hillary is not being truthful about Bush. As a matter of fact, I attended the National Police Memorial in Washington, DC this past Spring and President Bush was the first President in our history to honor all of the fallen officers. All other Presidents, including Bill Clinton, gave speeches and left, however Bush took his time, gave an eloquent speech and then spent a few minutes with each and every family represented in the audience, which there were roughly 350 families present. So, next time when you listen to the Senator from NY speak about honoring the sacrifices that are made, you may want to think about the truth and how many times it is distorted all for personal gain.

A few minutes? Let's say he spent THREE minutes with each family.. Go do the math and apologize for lying.
Also ELOQUENT SPEECH and BUSH should never, ever, be in the same sentence.

Were some of these the same police officers who booed Hillary when she attempted to speak at the memorial ceremony following the 9-11 tragedy? Those were rank and file police officers and fire fighters in New York. Is this the wife of the man who didn't bother to go to NY after the first WTC bombing and treated like a local crime? Ask 10 average police officers in NY what they think of Hillary and see what answers you get.

Yeah eloquent is not exactly what comes to mind when Bush speaks.
Back to the topic. Yes the dragon lady must be a liar. Budget cuts have impacted police departments in aims to allocate more money into Homeland Security to fight the "war on terror" impacting the crime rate in certain jurisdictions who operate on tighter budgets ; that have been said to show in the increase of crimes. She is totally full of shit when she shows concern for the money that is being averted away from policing influencing crime and terrorism. The former self explanatory, and the latter only bc often times it is the police that will be the first to pick up a crime that may be linked to terrorist activities the government could only be aware of if it was omnipresent. Oh wait that's what all the warrentless tapping is for. My bad. Carry on. No need to strike a balance between policing and Homeland Security. Like there was no need to strike a balance between The Army Corp of Engineers (pre-Katrina) and Iraq.

According to Hil we all lived in Camelot during the time that Bill said " I didn't have sex with that woman Monica Lewinsky"--give us a break. President Bush is a genuine person without Clinton props and constant laughing that sets Bill in motion. Bush has an era of trust and deep appreciation for our first responders and all American heroes I won't let Hil trash the President for politcal pandering and sleaze. Hil and Bill did not earn our trust for 8 years and 8 years is enough! No more Clintons. Jerry White, Springfield, IL
