Well, that didn't take long. A Democratic fund-raising communication has gone out which uses Attorney General Alberto Gonzales's resignation as a rallying cry to drum up more campaign contributions..
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee sent out an e-mail over the signature of its chairman, Rep. Chris Van Hollen. The e-mail's subject line bore just one word: "relentless."
Today, we saw what can happen when we stand together to hold Republicans accountable.
Attorney General Alberto Gonzales resigned today because of the relentless pressure that our people-powered Democratic Majority brought to bear. We could not have done it without you. But there is no time to rest - we need to ratchet up the same kind of pressure on those Republicans who continue to obstruct our efforts to change the direction on the war in Iraq
News is out that a group of well-funded Republicans, led by Bush's former press secretary Ari Fleischer and a group of former Bush Administration officials, is planning a massive $15 million blitz on television, radio and the Internet to shore up support for Bush's failed policy in Iraq.
We need your help to push back on this well funded pro-war campaign. Now it is more critical than ever that you help the DCCC keep the pressure on Republicans to change direction in Iraq. Last week, we told you about the DCCC's ads challenging more than a dozen Republicans for voting in lockstep with the President...
Send a donation now to keep the pressure on Bush-backing Republicans who say one thing and do another...
Please respond as quickly and generously as you can.
Sincerely,
Chris Van Hollen
DCCC Chair

Rather then send money, how about a B-52 sqaudron with some bombs?
Ooops, there I go again, doing the same thing Loony Lefters wish and say about conservatives. D'oh!

They're kidding right?
I recently got a solicitation from the DNC.
I sent it back and said as soon as the Democrats start DOING something, I'd be happy to contribute.
If this is what the Democrats think DOING is all about, we're in real trouble.

The Democrats are crushing the Nascar Party when it comes to fund-raising.
Fund-raising is an indicator of how the country feels right now, early poll numbers are a joke because they can be manipulated (Bruce) by political operatives.

If the Dems let Bush put his crony Chertoff in, then they will have squandered an opportunity to demand an independent AG to lead the DOJ. Of course, Bush will resist this to the bitter end because any fair investigation of the administration would lead to his impeachment and the impeachment of copresident Cheney.

The fact they would fundraise on Gonzales coat tails after resigning shows how maniacal the Democrats have become. For too long since 06 they believe erronneously that they are the whole government not in the separation of powers in our constitution.
The Democrats with more than 600 oversight investigations have criminalized politics but it's going to bite them in 08 believe me. The Congress approval rating is now 18 percent which shows how out of touch beltway Dems have become. I can't wait till 08 to show them the door. Jerry White, Springfield,IL

As usual, it's all about the money. I can't wait to hear Patrick Leahy pontificate about how this is an important day for the justice department and the rule of law out of one side of his mouth while begging for filthy lucre out of the other.

Getting more done? Please say that's a joke. Barely a quarter of Americans approve of the job this congress is doing, mostly because it is, after all, a do nothing congress.

And while I'm sure Pelosi and Reid will claim they were responsible for all those people resigning in their fundraising letters the fact of the matter is they had little to do with any of them. Rove is probably stepping down to get back into the big campaign game, even.
There's a reason why this congress' approval ratings are historically low.

Yo Johnny E., what this country really needs is for YOU to resign from the U.S.
I hear Hugo Chavez is looking for some more whipping boys.

I think someone left Brownie off the list of distinguished Republican hacks who were shown the door.
I'd like to get excited, but I can't, simply because the mess created after eight years of Bush may be too much for even the best of Democrats to clean-up. And there's still time for things to get worse before then.
But, as usual, I'll hope, pray, & remain optimistic. This country still has the potential to return to greatness once Bush is gone.

Here's a link about how this congress has matched the lowest approval rating of any in history:
http://blogs.usatoday.com/onpolitics/2007/08/gallup-approval.html
And not even a quarter of Americans approve of them, either. It's a scant 18% while more than three quarters disapprove of their work.

Nutty Wingnut,
These resignations would never have happened if the Repug Party had not lost the 06 elections....and as far as Iraq goes, the Nascar Party can only OBSTRUCT for so long.
See ya in 08!
Posted by: John E | August 27, 2007 5:22 PM
Keep telling yourself that. Karl Rove would've never jumped back into the campaign game. Sure. It's pointless trying to tell you I don't belong to their party or yours, your vision is just that narrow. But keep telling us how much you dislike "repugs" and then remember that the other side feels the same way about you and your words are giving them ammunition. Face it, Republicans and Democrats and the win-at-all-cost mentality are what got us into this mess in the first place. And it'll take a real statesman to pull us out. So far neither party is stepping up to the plate.
Until then, good luck with your 18%.

Oh, yeah. And what's up with all the hatred of NASCAR around here? I didn't know only Republicans liked it. There's a race at Chicagoland Speedway every year, you know. I think you'd be surprised if you went and polled the crowd.
But, by all means, don't let reality get in the way of your vitriol, name-calling, and anger. I can see from these posts that that's probably never stopped you in the past.

Is the DNC head referring to relentless pressure from Democrat politicians, or relentless pressure from the Democrat media?
Posted by: Bruce | August 27, 2007 7:05 PM
"The Dems in Congress are getting more done than certain people (Wingnuts) give them credit for"
Posted by: John E | August 27, 2007 4:22 PM
REALLY?! If that's true, then why didn't you tell us what they've done?
And what is your problem with NASCAR? Will you please explain why you seem to think that is an insult?
Anyway, by the common definition of the worn out cliche "Wingnut", you're one of them. How's that for irony? Maybe you should try to think of a new cliche, if you have the brain power.

The implosion of the Republican Party has precious little to do with the Democrats. Of course, the implosion is their good fortune and they will benefit from it in the short term.
However, the abysmal approval ratings for the Democratic Congress should cause thinking Democrat loyalists to worry -- so of course, the numbnuts posting here have nary a care in the world.
Unless public distrust and dissatisfaction is assuaged (yeah, right; when pigs fly) the Democrtaic ascendency will be shortlived.

Anonymous, any thinking beyond that of roadkill is beyond the scope of John E. Don't ask him to hurt himself by trying to think.
And i see after being more civil over the weekend, Doug Zook is trying to brandish his credentials with Loony Left again. What a shame.

It appears reporter Frank James is on the Democratic Party's fundraising list. Does this surprise anyone?
