In a meeting Thursday afternoon with reporters and bloggers in Chicago, Markos Moulitsas, the founder of the influential "Daily Kos" blog, spoke most extensively about the two Democratic front-runners in national polls.
He said Sen. Hillary Clinton has fixed an inner circle of advisers who a year ago did not give enough respect to bloggers.
"When you have respect, there's a sense that she will listen to us when making her decisions," he said. "When there is respect, then there's a sense we can work with her, even where we disagree."
He called Clinton's debate performances "stellar."
Obama, he said, understands Internet organizing and is popular among bloggers. "He's willing to stand up to us," he said. "We respect that."
Here is the link to the Tribune's Friday story on the YearlyKos convention. Included on that story page is a link to the full audio file from the news conference, as well as a blog post from Steve Johnson on his Chicago-area background.

Comments
Bill-O has been blovating about Daily Kos on his little Sci-Fi show on the Fox Noise Channel the last few days.....this coming from a guy (Bill-O) who is married and has a kid and who got busted for sexually harrassing one of his female producers and thus had to pay her off to keep it out of court.
Typical Republican "Family Values" hypocrite.
I now open the forum to Paolo, Brucie and Little Johnny D'Waterboarder to cry about Daily Kos.

Hillary doesn't respect weird, obsessive, often irrational people who don't get away from their keyboards enough?
Shame on her!

ICPNH,
You do appreciate the irony of what you just posted?

Oh Deranged Johnny E., I see you spent the night home and not at the bars. What? Being unemployed has put a crimp in the bar scene? Mummy and duddy are cutting back on your allowance?
Anyway, the Daily Kos is "influential" Tribsters? With who? 500,000 Loony Lefties?

Fact is, the leftists who post on DailyKos routinely spew the vilest kind of hate. The latest kookiness: saying President Bush ordered the assassination of Pat Tillman!
Or consider the anti-semitic rants, such as these: "as everybody knows, jews ONLY care about the welfare of other jews; thanks ever so much for reminding everyone of this most salient fact, so that we might better ignore all that jewish propaganda [by Lieberman] about participating in the civil rights movement of the 60s and so on."
The Trib leaves out reprinting little Kos gems like these.
I'd love to see the "Kosnuts" who post here try and defend these indefensible comments.

Thanks [INSERT...],
I hadn't realized I was "weird, obsessive" and "often irrational".
I'll have to get that looked at (while I still have some semblance of health insurance).
Funny that none of my family, friends or neighbors had ever mentioned these things you've diagnosed from afar without ever having met me.
PS: Ironic that you yourself are obviously in front of your own keyboard... hmmm.

Read about Kos and DailyKos, in all their hate-filled, tin foil glory:
"Most notoriously, the founder of the Daily Kos, Markos Moulitsas Zuniga, wrote this about American contractors who were murdered in Iraq and had their bodies desecrated,
"...I feel nothing over the death of merceneries. They aren't in Iraq because of orders, or because they are there trying to help the people make Iraq a better place. They are there to wage war for profit. Screw them."
When you see that sort of hostility towards people risking their lives in Iraq from the man running the Daily Kos, is it any surprise that other diarists on that blog have penned commentary like this,
"Our sons and daughters need to realize that choosing to be a soldier means a decision to place themselves among "the damned," since no matter what they end up doing while on the field of battle, they will eventually be damned.. damned if they do and damned if they do not. Realizing that compliance with a superior's order to shoot and kill the enemy may well lead to the damnation (the self-extirpation) of one's soul. On the other hand, noncompliance will lead to that of being court-martialed." -- Populist Party
"But do I still support the individual men and women who have given so much to serve their country? No. I think they’re a bunch of idiots. I also think they’re morally retarded. Because they sign a contract that says they will kill whoever you tell me to kill. And that is morally retarded." -- AWhitneyBrown
"We need to lose this war and not start the next one so that we can remain a free people. Diminished on the world stage? Perhaps, like Great Britain was diminished when it surrendered its colonial empire. But free." -- bluedogtxn
Only three examples have been listed here because the space available in this column is somewhat limited, but these sentiments are run-of-the-mill on the Daily Kos and similar comments are made on a regular basis by other writers on the website.
Along those same lines, here's the sort of bizarre paranoia that regular readers of the Daily Kos are exposed to on a regular basis,
"If we do not wake up now and flood Congress to impeach the President and Vice President, one year from now, Daily Kos may be banned and Markos himself may be disappeared, in a federal prison somewhere.
Even as I write these words I feel like a wild-eyed nutcase. If it were not for the OH SO REAL danger this country faces in the next 15 months or so as the people in power see their own doom and are determined to prevent their expulsion from power by suspending next year's elections and declaring martial law WHEN the next 9/11 comes or events that can be construed as a national emergency to "justify" such actions, I would be holding my tongue and crossing my fingers." -- slw0606
"...Bush let North Korea get nukes in order to start an arms race in Asia. He did it so American weapons manufacturers will make money, like we do with Israel.
We need to start talking straight, people. We need to start being up front about what this is all about. We can't wait until Bush walks up and blows our brains out to call this what it is."
(for more nuttiness, read John Hawkins' whole KOS column at www.townhall.com. And get the info on DailyKos the Trib won't give you)

Hahahahahahahaha more money to the dailyKos, thanks to brucey and juanD. Thanks for contributing to the liberal blogosphere. We really appreciate it. Keep it up guys. The more you cut 'n' paste, the stronger the blogosphere becomes. It's positively empowering!
