Just in case you had already forgotten about the Iowa Straw Poll, the contest that some candidates chose to skip, Mitt Romney is there to remind Iowans that he took it - and them - seriously.
The former Massachusetts governor has a new 30-second ad on the air called “Thanks Iowa.” Romney, of course, won the contest, which is held in Ames, Iowa, to benefit the state Republican Party.
"If there's ever been a time that we needed to see change in Washington, it's now,’’ says Romney, in footage taken from his speech to Republicans who attended the straw poll on Saturday.
Romney ticks off his agenda to strengthen the military, marriage and the economy, as well as to keep taxes down and secure the border. “Change begins in Iowa and change begins today,’’ he says.
Romney won the straw poll with 4,516 votes, or 31.5 percent of the vote. Neither Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York, nor John McCain, the Arizona senator, participated.

Flipper buys a win, now he buys the thank you.
At least the Fightin' Romney boys are toughing it out for America - just like Willard did back in France during the Vietnam War.
Between these patriots, Dubya, and 5 Deferrment Darth they can start the CPV - Chickenhawk Political Veterans.

The attendees whom he bought and paid for their transportation and meal ticket so they could vote should be thanking Money bags Mitt Romney. If the Ames straw poll is democracy to Republicans, we are in serious trouble as a nation.

Isn't it strange that the it's the liberals who are so anti-military who believe all politicians' children should be in the military?

Can't you see it now? The presidential debates with Mitt Romney on one side and Hillary on the other. No wonder Karl Rove is salivating about the '08 election.

The Iowa primary is a joke. Worse, to win it, Mitt had to pander to the more extreme elements of "the base" (and spend a ton of money). As long as the Republics allow themselves to be subjected to a litmus test on wedge issues, we'll get a skewed view of where the candidates really stand.

I don't understand why Iowa is so heavily concentrated on, and why it has to be the first state to conduct Primary Voting? I mean, without prejudice, do Corn Farmer's really represent the greater whole of the American Population?
Iowa represents less than 1% of the US population (2,982,085 people http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/19000.html ), how is that a gauge of the True American Political Atmosphere. There are over 6 million (Legal) people living in Los Angeles Alone....We need a change in the System.
Way to go Mitt, your values represent the attitude of less than 1% of the population, what do you want an award or something?

Hubbard,
You've got it wrong sport.
It's the right-wing chickenhawk hypocrisy that's at issue.

I agree with Mitt. I'm glad to hear he is calling for the immediate impeachment of Bush. What I don't understand is how his policies differ from Bush in the slightest.
