Part two in a continuing series: Karl Rove has good taste. AP photo.

by Mark Silva

As President Bush headed out from his Prairie Chapel Ranch yesterday for a gathering down the road at the Broken Spoke Ranch -- a "thank you'' assembly for 308 supporters -- the president's soon-retiring chief poltiical adviser headed down, too.

The yearly event is staged for major party contributors. The president, first lady Laura Bush and others in the Bush party stayed for two hours.

A Dallas caterer laid out bacon-wrapped tenderloin, bacon-wrapped chicken and an array of barbecue: Sausage, brisket, ribs, turkey. On the side: Blue cheese mashed potatoes, black-eyed peas, okra and tomato, green beans, cream-style corn. Fruit cobbler and Blue Bell ice cream for dessert -- all served up in an air-conditioned tent with a carpeted plywood floor.

A few protesters holding anti-war signs stood outside the Broken Spoke.

As "pool'' reporters watching the president's vacation days held nearby, Karl Rove, the deputy chief of staff and "architect'' of the president's campaigns calling it quits at month's end, rolled up in his car with the window down blasting "Paint it Black" by the Rolling Stones.

We can only imagine what Rove was humming to himself: "I see a blue state and I want it painted red....''

KKKarl is a walking, talking example of why it's a bad idea to let the Republic Party knuckledraggers run things in this country.

I see Rove and I want to paint him yellow. He'll make a great fire hydrant in the next life!

I see Tirckled On John E and he has food stamps.

The GOP listening to the Stones, the dems listening to Celine Dion. - You decide.

For the unenlightened (Bruce, John D, Terry, Jerry White, among others) here's a clue:

Bacon-wrapped Rove..are you sure he wasn't humming "I fought the law, and the law lost".

What song was that?

Karl Rove is a great American red states are defintitely better than blue ones tax and spend blue ones.. W led our nation through troubled times and 911 he has succeeded in keeping America safe. Karl Rove made it possible for W to President and I know you liberal Dems want to bash Bush. But, I should point out Bush is not for re-election nevermind Obama and Hil bash him continually. They don't have ideas if they did they would be logical conservative GOP members. Jerry White, Springfield,Il

The biggest problem is that they got the colors of the states wrong in the beginning. The blue should have been Republican and the red Democratic. Easier to remember that way. And think of all the times the left wing military protest paraders in San Francisco and other cities carried red flags, not knowing they were from a blue state. Or were those flags red for another reason?

'Paint it Black, you Devil!'

"You wouldn't want my pants to fall down now would you!"

Thank God he wasn't rapping.

Red? Blue? Black? Not sure about lame duck, but dead meat is green.

"logical conservative"

If that's not the definition of an oxymoron, I don't know what is.

Next song up: Shattered, which is the state of our country after 6 years of Rove and "The Decider." One question -- who makes Bush's decisions now that his "Brain" is completely gone??

Paint it Black is about serious depression. Negativity. Pessimism. It's a good song to describe the "White" House.

"Sympathy for the Devil" would have been even more appropriate.

Roman B,

"Common Sense Liberal"

Anti Bush Song Will Make Stones Album
by Paul Cashmere

8 August 2005

One of the Rolling Stones most political songs ever, 'Sweet Neo Con' will be included on the final track listing for the band's forthcoming 'A Bigger Bang' album.

The lyrics are a direct attack on the US president, calling him a hypocrite. "You call yourself a Christian, I call you a hypocrite/You call yourself a patriot, well I think you're full of shit" states the lyrics.

"It is direct," Mick Jagger told Newsweek. "Keith said [he breaks into a dead-on Keith imitation], 'It's not really metaphorical.' I think he's a bit worried because he lives in the U.S." Jagger smiles "But I don't."

I like the Rolling Stones too!

Ok, I hate the Rolling Stones, THE most overrated band in the history of rock.

Roman B., conservatism is all about logic, common sense, real life.

Liberalism is all about ignorance, no sense and surreal life.

John D,

Thanks for reminding us that you're from the Bizzarro World of opposites.

Bush is good, the war goes well, the economy is sound, liberals are loony, The Stones are overrated -- in the world of opposites it must make sense.

Let's pretend that Karl Rove wasn't successful in getting GWB elected in 2000. Sept. 11 would have still happened as Assama really didn't care who was president.

With Gore as president, he would have followed the Clinton policy of treating the terrorists as criminals and taken them to court. This would only have accomplished making his attorney friends richer.

Had Kerry been elected as president, we would all be speaking arabic now and being forced to worship in mosques.

If Hillbilly were president, see Gore above but make sure that all terrorists are given free healthcare.

If Assama Obama becomes president, we will have nuclear war -- with our allies.

So although GWB is far from perfect, I am very thankful that he is our president. We are winning the war on terror as tough and as brutal as it is. The economy has recovered from the last year of Clinton's presidency [a recession] and from the affects of 9/11 and has been one of the strongest in the history of this country. We are giving the government less of our money.

So thank you Karl Rove and bring on 8 more years of a republican presidency in 2008!!

conservatism is all about logic, common sense, real life...

Uhm.... After looking on Rush Limbaugh's web sight, while holding my breath long enough to turn blue (is that how he describes liberals converting?) a few times, I'm still trying to find the logic.
As to The Rolling Stones being the most overated rock band in history?
Hhhmmm.... According the the rules of capitalism, they've probably earned more then any other music band. Ever.

Conservatism is cerebral and liberalism is emotional.

Conservatism recognizes only one value: money.

Should have been playing Lies (Some Girls 1978) followed by Highwire (Flashpoint 1991) "It's not about the war. It's about how it started." Richards continued, saying, It's about how you build up some shaky dictator. You can't build them up, 'cause then you've got to slam them down."

We sell 'em missiles, We sell 'em tanks; We give 'em credit, You can call the bank; It's just a business, You can pay us in crude; You love these toys, just go play out your feuds; Got no pride, don't know whose boots to lick; We act so greedy, makes me sick sick sick.

Then Fingerprint File (IORR 1974).

You better watch out
On your telephone
Wrong number
They know you ain't home

And when he meets the president of France up in Kennebunkport, Shrub serves him hot dogs and hamburgers. Hey, nothing but the best for our allies, right?

So attacking and occupying a country that had NOTHING to do with 9/11 is "common sense"?

What a fantasy world you live in!

Mr. John D. thinks the Rolling Stones are overrated. He hates them. Perhaps this John D. isn't familiar with any of their accomplishments or history. Or maybe he doesn't like their lyrics or music. The Stones have been more successful than John D. will ever be. Unlike the Stones, he is ignorant, makes no sense, and has problems telling the truth.
Red state, blue states...how about tar and feathers for Rove.

Now Mark Silva "imagines" what Rove is humming?

I guess for a reporter, "imagining" what people say is a substitute for actually interviewing people.

This is the kind of "reporting" one would expect from the Weekly World News.

If Conservatism is all about logic and common sense, then John D. being a conservative makes as much sense as Satan saying Mass on Easter Sunday at the altar at St. Peter's. Both cases -- it just doesn't add up!
