The Republican candidates for president debating in Iowa this morning did not save their punches for one another. Mitt Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, had something to say about Barack Obama, the Illinois Democrat who opposes the war in Iraq but suggests that the U.S. should go after terrorists inside Pakistan if the Pakistanis won’t.

"He's gone from Jane Fonda to Dr. Strangelove in one week," Romney said of Obama, in an allusion to the 1964 cinematic character who encountered the “Doomsday Machine’’ in Stanley Kubrick’s classic anti-war film.

“I think Obama is confused as to who our friends and who our enemies are,’’ Romney said in the Republican exchange broadcast by ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos.

The Democratic National Committee’s Howard Dean, who once enjoyed a romp of his own through the early Iowa caucus campaign, was quick to say what was missing from the Republican debate today:

“Once again instead of offering new ideas to the American people, almost every one of the Republican candidates continue to stand united, in support of President Bush's failed stay-the-course approach in Iraq and against a real commitment to ensuring health care for every American,’’ Dean said. “All our Democratic candidates are firmly committed to getting us out of Iraq and focusing on the real war on terror as well as providing millions of low-income children the health care they deserve.’’

Still, the Republicans had something to say about one another today, with Romney, who is vying for a strong position in next week’s Iowa Straw Poll, speaking out against the more conservative members of his party:

"I get tired of people that are holier than thou because they've been pro-life longer than I have," Romney said in a thinly-veiled attack at rival Sam Brownback of Kansas.

Romney called an automated phone call paid for by the Brownback campaign attacking Romney's changed abortion stance as "desperate" and "negative." Brownback who champions his pro-life stance as a "core issue" for his party, called the call "truthful" and promised to appoint a judge to the Supreme Court who would overturn Roe v. Wade.

Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor, defended his stance as the sole member of the field in favor of abortion rights for women.

The role of Vice President Dick Cheney came into play today.

Arizona Sen. John McCain said he would "be very careful to make everyone understand that there was only one president." Giuliani said he wants a vice president who can take over "at a moment's notice." But Romney was ready with a defensive line for the Bush-Cheney team: “People like to criticize the president and vice president and they have made mistakes but they've kept us safe."

Most of the Republicans oppose any timetable for withdrawal from Iraq – with Rep. Ron Paul of Texas a notable exception.

“We went in illegally and we ought to just come home," Paul said today.

McCain defended his stance in support of the administration’s strategy of escalating U.S. military force in Iraq in a bid to secure the nation.

“We do now have a strategy that is succeeding,’’ McCain said. “We do have a military whose morale is up because they see this success.’’

McCain also defended his own poll-defying stance on the war: “I'm going to be judged by history, not by public opinion polls.’’

Is little Mitty the Sissyhawk who hid with his French friends during Vietnam the latest in your face war monger?

I'm sure our Republic friends will buy it,just like they bought the Cheerleader and little dick.

Oh those "Conservatives".Since they took office the size of our Govt.has ballooned out of site along with the deficit they will burden future generations with.

I love it that this "guy":

http://www.perrspectives.com/images/rudy_drag.jpg

is leading in the polls for the Wingnut nomination.

Rudy keeps bragging about how tough he would be on "Islamic Terrorism" but fails to mention that he has Zero foreign policy experience and when he did have a chance to get some experience by working with the Iraq Study Group.... Rudy told the group that he would rather rake in the cash on the high paying 9/11 speaking circuit.
Rudy failed BIGTIME pre-9/11 in NYC. He put his command and control center in the World Trade Center AFTER the 93 attack on it and AFTER officials told him that it would be a bad idea to do so, thus the reason "9/11 Hero" Rudy was left to walk the steets of Manhatten on 9/11.

Mitt Romney is just another chickenhawk Republican wannabe tough guy. (Like we have so many of here on The Swamp.)

All this tough guy talk from someone who had the chance to go kill the godless commies in Vietnam and went to France instead.

Mitt's got himself that freshly minted NRA card with a varmint hunter stamp and he's let it go to his head.

Romney should have to put a bag over his head whenever he's in John McCain's presence.

I don't think any of these candidates listened to what Obama said. I could be wrong because I have been before but, I understood him to say was that if there was credible evidence of a threat, and the people were in Pakistan, he would attack only if the leadership in Pakistan would not do so.

What a bunch of vacuous, ignorant, completely out of touch buffoons. The only thing they agree on is to continue being the party of the warmongers. Nothing but a hopelessly deluded group of self-sanctimonious, moralizing fools. Flip flopping Romney pointing fingers and not answering anything. McCain making it clear that he is in the early stages of senility. Giuliani, sleazy, corrupt, dishonest, and hated by the people of his own city. Ron Paul is the only one out of this group that has a finger on the pulse of the American public and we all know the Warmongering GOP will never support (GASP!) an anti-war candidate. King Racist Tancredo beating the same old dead horse. If you guys think the American people are just going to throw our hands up and say, "OK, if that's all we've got, I'll vote for him", you're wrong. These guys are completely unqualified and unacceptable to the voters. You guys are so unorganized that 20% of you want to vote for a third rate actor who hasn't even announced his candidacy (Thank the Gods). Forget the White House, it's not gonna happen for this bunch of old white guys.

Doug,

What is the military experience of the canidate that wants to bomb the hell out of Pakistan.

See the attached article for the military experience of all the canidates. One emphasis the articles seems to emphaisixe is the draft and VietNam. For example, the article mentions Brownback had not turned 18 by the time the draft ended in 1973. I guess there is no other way to enter the military.

Just for the record, I don't think you need military experience to be president.

I have been reading this blog for about a week now and I keep seeing this ravin loon dude rail and puf about nothing but insults. Why is he aloud to insult everyone all the time it really brings me down.

Crazy Duck,

"Since they took office the size of our Govt.has ballooned out of site along with the deficit they will burden future generations with."

Speaking of burdening future generations - how is Social Security, Medicare, snd Perscription Drugs plan doing?

John E,

Which of the three leading dems has "foriegn policy" experience? Have the previous two presidents had foriegn policy experience when they entered office?

Terry,

Point me to the quote of "...wants to bomb the hell out of Pakistan."

Terry,

Hell no, you don't have to be ex-military to be president. I couldn't agree more.

Just spare me the tougher than thou crap.

Rudy failed in NYC before 9-11? Obviously, a comment from someone who never lived or worked there before or after. Before Rudy, Mahattan was a filthy, crime-ridden sewer with empty storefronts, dark theatres, and steel-shuttered buildings. After Rudy, crime plummeted, businesses and theatres came back, and so did business and family tourists. And it was all due to his leadership.

Hey Band Man,

I’ve been reading this site for 2-3 months and never seen anything that indicates this ravin loon guy has an IQ higher than 90. Just ignore him, you might want to ignore Zook & John E also, two others that just pollute the swamp.

On Obama's Quasimodo transformation and hints of oxmoronism in his moves, agreed.

On the Republicans "united not much new ideas" front presented, agreed.

On Pres. Bush "stay the course," disagree.

On Democrats "getting us out of Iraq" front presented agree, disagree with the strategy though.

Rmney "Roe vs Wade over turned"....um definitely not my cup of tea at all, disagree.

Giuliani "abolition rights," agree. "War on terror" give me a break.

McCain. "one president..." yeah we know that there supposed to be only one. Great running point "I will make certain the public knows there is only one president." Do me a favor let your vice president know that, and not the public should they want your attention "I'm the decider".

Rmney "Bush kept us safe". R u nuts.

McCaine. Neo-con extraordinaire. You ruin the illegitimacy of what needs to happen by lending your name and predictions alllllll the time. Actually your too full of yourself to a point of arrogance and blindness; I doubt that you have any flexibility in you or be able to judge situations past what you want to see. I'm starting to think you would surpass the president in kingship. Oh and the world does not need another history messiah. Is Kristol still your adviser?? "Won't consider polls." Um then how are you ever going to know that maybe I should look at the situation more; do some self criticizing. History doesn't like lap dogs.

Ron Paul. How could you not like the guy. Yet I don't think that just bc a war was "illegal" legitimate enough of a reason to just go home without liability of what that might due after our presence foot print in Iraq for four years.

My fualt. I routinely pay the price for mind-fire-to-finger tips.

McCaine. Neo-con extraordinaire. You ruin the legitimacy...legitimacy..

CJ,

You MUST BE a 26% dead-ender.

You can't handle the truth!

Doug, what exactly is the "tougher-than-thou crap" you claim the GOPers have been saying?
I mean isn't Obama's comment about invading Pakistan, "tougher-than-thou crap?"

And could one of you Loons please explain what is Obama's foreign policy experience? Hillary's? Or how about John Edwards?

Oh, I'm sorry, Obama lived overseas. Hillary had her fingers in the White House. Edwards? Perhaps he flew his hair stylist to Paris once.

I saw a lot of pandering, heard a few lies and lots of misinformation being thrown about. That made me sick. The most important thing we need is a candidate who will take his sworn oath of office seriously. Once again, that man is Ron Paul. And once again the moderator didn't even address the lone medical man on the subject of healthcare, or abortion. Not much of a debate, still just the main stream media trying to push their own interests. I want a change. It is clear the only way to even get close to chnages in policy is to elect Ron Paul, anyone else equals more of the same old thing, at our expense. Give me Liberty from idiot politicians, please.

Band Man,

CJ wants you to not read anything that he doesn't agree with.

How do you feel about being asked to member of the mutual admiration soceity to the exclusion of non-conforming opinion?

Or, as I like to call it the 26% dead-enders.

John D.,

Obama is saying what I've wanted these politicians to say all along. There is no sanctuary for the scumbags that killed 3,000 Americans on 9/11. If we know where you are, we will kill you. That's what I want to hear.

Now, I've got a question for you: Why did Dubya order an 8 hour cease fire at Tora Bora that allowed bin-Laden to escape?

Why doesn't someone from AEI run? Or Carlyle? (oops! forgot GeorgeI is part of that fascia). After all, those two and Goldman-Sachs have been ruining the country for 10 years under the NeoCon Party banner. We might want to ask THEM a few questions in a public debate.

Doug,

My bad - Obama would only invade Pakistan.

Act tough crap??? It is the left that always brings up Bush's lack of military experience and now Romney's. I'm just posting facts about ALL the canidates military experience.

John E,

Which of the three leading dems has "foriegn policy" experience? Have the previous two presidents had foriegn policy experience when they entered office?

Posted by: Terry | August 5, 2007 3:07 PM

Terry,

The guy you voted for in 2000 and 2004 for Vice-President (Little Dick Cheney) had plenty of foreign policy experience and the losers your party are running for Prez this time around want to "Stay the Course" with that same losing strategy.

Rudy was offered a chance to do some foreign policy work (Iraq Study Group) but he decided that he would rather keep profiting off of the 9/11 tragedy instead......pathetic.

These angry old rich white Republican guys are all a bunch of Wimps and:

L O S E R S

After reading the above demented liberal talking points...if you're a Republican, you're always going to be a chickenhawk, but a lib dem, like Barack "Hussein" Obama gets a pass when he stated,he'd pull all our troops from Iraq and invade Pakistan weather Musharraf liked it or not....
Oh,and don't forget the great military service of Hillary and Edwards.
Talk about Chickenhawks!

Paulo

Doug, I would like to see some valid link that Bush ordered an 8-hour ceasefire in Tora Bora. Nothing from salon.com, dailykos.com, kookyleftwinglies.com, etc.

And, just about everyone wants to get bin Laden. But invading Pakistan is a whole other can of worms and very well could cause an even worse problem than exists now. And, I ask, what is the aftermath of our Pakistani invasion? WOuld it not be an Al Qaeda recruiting tool like no other?
Funny, how the loser Loony Lefties never address the questions in the world of reality.

Terry,

Let's try it again.

Obama talked about going after high-level al-Queda operatives upon actionable intelligence if Musharaff wouldn't do it.

Which is not the same thing as invading Pakistan.

Now, one-and-all you Dubya dead-enders: Why did Dubya call off the bombing at Tora Bora which allowed bin-Laden to escape?

Dahl's numbers indicate he was playing to a packed house (with his boosters en masse). Television commentator Laura Ingraham has a better understanding of both sides of the political comicaction than the whole kit and kaboodle being "staged" for our entertainment. She is much too intelligent however to allow herself to to be eaten alive by the cannibals in the media who seem to take joy in their Inquisition of Words.

Paulo,
Your an idiot. "Chickenhawk" does not refer to someone without military experience, that is just one component.

Chickenhawk: A politician or other person who promotes war without having had any personal experience of it; especially those who have avoided the experience.

Edwards and most Dems don't support the Iraq War. If you looked in the dictionary under "chickenhawk", you'd see a picture of Darth Cheney (or a group picture of BushCo).

Here's another definition from the urban dictionary, particularly suited for Johnny Torture:

Any person who is a proponent of a war while not enlisting and going off to fight in said war. A kind of hypocrite. Really, a chickenhawk is one who says: "it's okay for other mother's sons and children's fathers to go off and get shot, dismembered and incinerated, but me, I'm too much of a wilting daisy to go off and break a nail trying to load one of those gun thingies."

Paulo,
From one idiot to another, that's (you're), as in you are.

Also, don't assume that Dems don't understand the complexities of the situation in Pakistan. It could be that we're yanking your chain over all the mindless sloganeering and toughguy talk we've been subjected to with the Iraq fiasco.

REally so how would Obama happen to act on these high end operatives. Flying over their air space. Sending units through the Afgan border into their land. I doubt that Musaraf, who already made his stance clear on this would not see that as invading. Unless since high end operatives are involved the country will...just....understand...Since high end operatives are involved the world and Pakistan will redefine the terms invasion...national boundaries...sovereignty...

Actually Shrub technically best fits the definition of a "chickenhawk." He was actually able to get into the Texas National Guard, some say because of his political connections, and become a fighter pilot. But instead of fighting, he apparently "disappeared" from duty somewhere in Alabama. Don't know if he needed a deferment(s) (like our VP) to go to grad school at Big Bush's alma mater. Guess Shrub just didn't want to take the chance of being shot down like his dad in WWII and ruin a chance at a successful future business career.

Supposedly the military got involved into going after OBL at Tora Bora, but the planning got so complicated with too many units and contingencies involved that the NCA called it off as too unwieldy. If it had been solely a CIA black bag ops, it might have had a chance of being approved and being successful (just like the CIA was in earlier convincing the Northern Alliance warlords to go after the Taliban). If true, some say it was a failure of planning, judgment, and nerve.

dt,
So you agree that Barack "Hussein" Obama is a chickenhawk!

Hillary and Edwards are just girls then...

Paulo

Doug,

US troops univited into a country. If Bush were to do this, most of left would be doing what they do best, having hissy fits.

P.S. - You shouldn't be lumped into any category w/ John E.

Why did Dubya call off the bombing at Tora Bora which allowed bin-Laden to escape?

Posted by: Doug Zook | August 5, 2007 6:46 PM

Same reason Bush flew the Bin Laden family out of the country when all other flights were grounded.

I think Ravin' Loon is trying to point out how unconservative these neo-cons are. They are all about waste - not conservation. Waste of American resources and lives. Waste of economic reserves. Waste of morality. I watched the "debate". Every one of them (except Ron Paul) started out their responses with something that sounded like true, economic "conservatives", then they ended their comments with something like "One man, one woman" or "Stay the course" or "Reverse Roe v Wade". It's all a deceptive ploy to get voters. I like Ron Paul better than any of them because he presents his agenda and lets you decide. He has consistently voted his patriotism.

Well Dougie, since you must be on the side of Harry and Nancy, the leaders of the poorest performing congress that the nation has ever seen, the congress of surrender.

Or as I like to call it - a 20%, champion of surrender.

Loser!

Paulo,
Obama is not a chickenhawk, he doesn't support Bush's war of choice. What Al qaeda did on 9/11 forced us into a military response in Afghanistan. Had Bush, who is a chickenhawk, kept his eye on the ball, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Obama talked only of getting Bin Laden, I would presume, in what would be a precise and limited action (predator missile, cruise missile).

Personally, as much as I want the murdering Bin Laden punished, I recognize the fragility of Musharraf's government and the prospects of nukes in the wrong hands. So, naturally, we have to be careful there.

Republics would have gotten more sympathy over the complexities regarding Pakistan had they not engaged in divisive sloganeering and hypocrisy over Iraq.

Bush said we had to invade Iraq because of WMD. Iraq didn't have them, Pakistan did and was selling the technology to hostile regimes. It was all bs, Bush had his own agenda. When he got called on it, when he was warned of the complexities of the situation in Iraq he painted his detractors as traitors and cowards.

The fallout that Bush is getting now is the result of his "scorched earth" brand of politics. The same can be said for this blog. While reasonable people have been trying to engage in dialog over the country's direction the past six plus years, Rove, right-wing pundits, and the neonuts who hijacked the Republican Party have been alienating half the country. Don't expect Dems to play nice to the party who views compromise as weakness.

As for the "wiretap" bill, careful what you wish for:

Big Brother: [voiceover] This is our land. A land of peace and of plenty. A land of harmony and hope. This is our land. Oceania. These are our people. The workers, the strivers, the builders. These are our people. The builders of our world, struggling, fighting, bleeding, dying. On the streets of our cities and on the far-flung battlefields. Fighting against the mutilation of our hopes and dreams. Who are they?

Geez, once again I will post information about George Bush's National Guard Service because the loony, loopy, uninformed Left keeps trotting out the same bullnonsense over and over.

Here the facts, oh clueless ones:

FOUR YEARS OF FLYING
The controversy over Bush's service centers on what his critics call "the period in question," that is, the time from May 1972 until May 1973. What is not mentioned as often is that that period was in fact Bush's fifth year in the Guard, one that followed four years of often intense service.

Bush joined in May 1968. He went through six weeks of basic training — a full-time job — at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Tex. Then he underwent 53 weeks of flight training — again, full time — at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, Ga. Then he underwent 21 weeks of fighter interceptor training — full time — at Ellington Air Force Base in Houston. Counting other, shorter, postings in between, by the end of his training period Bush had served two years on active duty.

Certified to fly the F-102 fighter plane, Bush then began a period of frequent — usually weekly — flying. The F-102 was designed to shoot down other fighter planes, and the missions Bush flew were training flights, mostly over the Gulf of Mexico and often at night, in which pilots took turns being the predator and the prey."If you're going to practice how to shoot down another airplane, then you have to have another airplane up there to work on," recalls retired Col. William Campenni, who flew with Bush in 1970 and 1971. "He'd be the target for the first half of the mission, and then we'd switch."

During that period Bush's superiors gave him consistently high ratings as a pilot. "Lt. Bush is an exceptional fighter interceptor pilot and officer," wrote one in a 1972 evaluation. Another evaluation, in 1971, called Bush "an exceptionally fine young officer and pilot" who "continually flies intercept missions with the unit to increase his proficiency even further." And a third rating, in 1970, said Bush "clearly stands out as a top notch fighter interceptor pilot" and was also "a natural leader whom his contemporaries look to for leadership."

All that flying involved quite a bit of work. "Being a pilot is more than just a monthly appearance," says Bob Harmon, a former Guard pilot who was a member of Bush's group in 1971 and 1972. "You cannot maintain your currency by doing just one drill a month. He was flying once or twice a week during that time, from May of 1971 until May of 1972." While the work was certainly not as dangerous as fighting in the jungles of Vietnam, it wasn't exactly safe, either. Harmon remembers a half-dozen Texas Air National Guard fliers who died in accidents over the years, in cluding one during the time Bush was flying. "This was not an endeavor without risk," Harmon notes.

THE MOVE TO ALABAMA
The records show that Bush kept up his rigorous schedule of flying through the spring of 1972: He was credited for duty on ten days in March of that year, and seven days in April. Then, as Bush began his fifth year of service in the Guard, he appears to have stepped back dramatically. The records indicate that he received no credit in May, June, July, August, and September 1972. In October, he was credited with two days, and in November he was credited with four. There were no days in December, and then six in January 1973. Then there were no days in February and March.

The change was the result of Bush's decision to go to Alabama to work on the Senate campaign of Republican Winton Blount. With an obligation to the Guard, Bush asked to perform equivalent service in Alabama. That was not an unusual request, given that members of the Guard, like everyone else, often moved around the country. "It was a common thing," recalls Brigadier General Turnipseed. "If we had had a guy in Houston, he could have made equivalent training with Bush's unit. It was so common that the guy who wrote the letter telling Bush to come didn't even tell me about it."

The president's critics have charged that he did not show up for service — was "AWOL" — in Alabama. Bush says he did serve, and his case is supported by records showing that he was paid and given retirement credit for days of service while he was known to be in Alabama. The records also show that Bush received a dental examination on January 6, 1973, at Dannelly Air National Guard base, home of the 187th (January 6 was one of the days that pay records show Bush receiving credit for service). And while a number of Guard members at the base say they do not remember seeing Bush among the roughly 900 men who served there during that time, another member, a retired lieutenant named John Calhoun, says he remembers seeing Bush at the base several times.

What seems most likely is that Bush was indeed at Dannelly, but there was not very much for a non-flying pilot to do. Flying fighter jets involves constant practice and training; Bush had to know when he left Texas that he would no longer be able to engage in either one very often, which meant that he would essentially leave flying, at least for some substantial period of time. In addition, the 187th could not accommodate another pilot, at least regularly. "He was not going to fly," says Turnipseed. "We didn't have enough airplanes or sorties to handle our own pilots, so we wouldn't have done it for some guy passing through."

On the other hand, showing up for drills was still meeting one's responsibility to the Guard. And, as 1973 went along, the evidence suggests that Bush stepped up his work to make up for the time he had missed earlier. In April of that year, he received credit for two days; in May, he received credit for 14 days; in June, five days; and in July, 19 days. That was the last service Bush performed in the Guard. Later that year, he asked for and received permission to leave the Guard early so he could attend Harvard Business School. He was given an honorable discharge after serving five years, four months, and five days of his original six-year commitment.

The records indicate that, despite his move to Alabama, Bush met his obligation to the Guard in the 1972-73 year. At that time, Guardsmen were awarded points based on the days they reported for duty each year. They were given 15 points just for being in the Guard, and were then required to accumulate a total of 50 points to satisfy the annual requirement. In his first four years of service, Bush piled up lots of points; he earned 253 points in his first year, 340 in his second, 137 in his third, and 112 in his fourth. For the year from May 1972 to May 1973, records show Bush earned 56 points, a much smaller total, but more than the minimum requirement (his service was measured on a May-to-May basis because he first joined the Guard in that month in 1968).

Bush then racked up another 56 points in June and July of 1973, which met the minimum requirement for the 1973-74 year, which was Bush's last year of service. Together, the record "clearly shows that First Lieutenant George W. Bush has satisfactory years for both '72-'73 and '73-'74, which proves that he completed his military obligation in a satisfactory manner," says retired Lt. Col. Albert Lloyd, a Guard personnel officer who reviewed the records at the request of the White House.

All in all, the documents show that Bush served intensively for four years and then let up in his fifth and sixth years, although he still did enough to meet Guard requirements. The records also suggest that Bush's superiors were not only happy with his performance from 1968 to 1972, but also happy with his decision to go to Alabama. Indeed, Bush's evaluating officer wrote in May 1972 that "Lt. Bush is very active in civic affairs in the community and manifests a deep interest in the operation of our government. He has recently accepted the position as campaign manager for a candidate for United States Senate. He is a good representative of the military and Air National Guard in the business world."

Beyond their apparent hope that Bush would be a good ambassador for the Guard, Bush's superiors might have been happy with his decision to go into politics for another reason: They simply had more people than they needed. "In 1972, there was an enormous glut of pilots," says Campenni. "The Vietnam War was winding down, and the Air Force was putting pilots in desk jobs. In '72 or '73, if you were a pilot, active or Guard, and you had an obligation and wanted to get out, no problem. In fact, you were helping them solve their problem."

Hey CJ,

Which one of these fine wingnuts are you going to "lockstep" behind?

This "guy"?

....or this "Hunter"?

Or are you saving your vote for that Pro Abortion lobbyist/b-list actor - Freddy Thompson?

What is it with this Bush(league)bunch? First they "lose" $7 billion dollars in cash. Now they can't account for hundreds of thousands of weapons. 4+ years into the war and Iraq's electrical grid is on the verge of collapse. Can you say inept? BTW, tell me again who it is that's going to stand up so we can stand down?

Band man,

CJ is right; the wacky lefties here on the swamp are so full of hate, you won’t miss much if you just skip um. Why the Democrats have allowed the extremists in the party to turn the “Party of the People” into the “Party of Hate & Intolerance” is beyond me.

VP, the Democratic party IS run by hateful and intolerant nutjobs. From George Soros to Howard Dean to Harry Reid to Nancy Pelosi to Al Franken, that is the Democratic party today. FDR, Truman and John Kennedy are spinning in disgust in their graves.

Little Johnny D:

I notice that you did not post the source of your fluff piece of Bush propoganda. Which one was it - the RNC, FreeRepublic, The Weekly Standard, or some other right-wing group?? Face it - there are just as many military people who NEVER saw W in Alabama.

Remember - John Kerry went through basic training and went to Viet Nam. W went through basic training and went to Alabama.

O.K. Repubs, got give Romney credit for the "Dr. Stranglove" referrence.

But that's about it.

“I think Obama is confused as to who our friends and who our enemies are,’’ Romney said.

To quote one of the greatest movie ever, "The Godfather":

"Keep your freinds close, but your enemies closer."

What a great story from Disney's Fantasyland!

John D, will you EVER provide links to non-right wingnut sources that BACK UP the allegations that you post? Or are we just supposed to accept your word that everything is true, because you're "a journalist"?

Dear Band Man,i'm sorry that my comments are bringing you down dude.Don't let the comments of a Dem with an IQ of 91 bring you down. You know what brings me down Band Man?

1.A Prez who in the first 9 months of his term focus's all his efforts on the Energy Co's and tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.

2.Which leads to lack of focus on terrosism. Then we have the worst attack in history on our soil which results in thousands of deaths.

John Headchopper D. says:

"But invading Pakistan is a whole other can of worms and very well could cause an even worse problem than exists now. And, I ask, what is the aftermath of our Pakistani invasion? WOuld it not be an Al Qaeda recruiting tool like no other? Funny, how the loser Loony Lefties never address the questions in the world of reality."

so, Headchopper, how are these questions any more relevant than they would have been if cheneybush had asked them prior to invading Iraq? Why are they "loser loony lefters" if they ask them about Iraq but perfectly okay if they ask about Pakistan?

What will be your perspective, Headchopper, when cheneybush invades Iran? Will that be okay or might it lead to "an even worse problem?"

Maybe we could ask cheneybush to "please, pretty please, strutt around saying "you're either with us or against us" and that will scare Pakistan into giving up bin Laden. It certainly seems to have worked wonders in Afghanistan and Iraq. In fact, it MUST HAVE WORKED, because bin Laden is gone, right?

cheneybush says: "I'm a war president. I think about war every day and every night."

Next election cycle, let's elect someone who says, "I'm an American President, dedicated to equal rights for all, the rule of law and protection of our nation and citizens." Putting cheneybush in there with the sole focus being on making war isn't workingout so well is it? Well, it appears to be good for Headchopper, Paulo and pals.

Left wing Loons, the source of that information is Byron York of National Review. You may discredit it all you want, but you see the information he provides in that piece comes directly from the records, not some made up memo like CBS News used.

Also, if you read the article (and here again you Leftist Loons have that reading and comprehension problem we've noted on several occasions), you will note that Bush's time with the Alabama National Guard came at the end of his Guard duty and in that year he did the MINIMUM time and was granted his release from the Guard becuase the Vietnam War was coming to an end, he had lived up to and SURPASSED his duties in the Guard and because he also went back to school. As the article notes, Bush served for nearly 5 1/2 years of his six-year commitment.

Guess that means you better stop calling those 900 #'s, hey Paulo.

So much for that little "Liberty" thing guarnteed by the constiitution.

Ravin Loon

I work with a lot of loonies in the music bis, a lot of stage names too- but you seem to me to be the one most suited for the name you givin yourself. That might be the only accurate thing you done.

Band Man

Paul"O", I notice you keep putting emphasis on "Hussein" as Obama's middle name. So, it's Hussein. Is that bad?

What kind of weirdo, anti-American name is "Paul"O"? Do you and Hug"O" Chavez hang around on weekends? Maybe you hang out to smoke Cuban cigars with Fidel Castr"O". That sounds like a "nameO" that could fit you.

You think 6 more months of the cheneybush regime's spying"O" on us makes us safer"O"?

Paul"O", the previous writer is correct: you truly are a horse's a**O!

Band man

You speak so eloquently, I am guessing your IQ is somewhere in the 70's. You are only down because you are a loser!

This is a blog site and everyone is entitled to Ravin Loon's opionion. If you dont want to read what they have to say, dont read it!

Music bis? name you givin yourself? ok 60...idiot!!

Not that I ever doubted it, but clearly snalg has moved full throttle into the weirdest and most bizarre elements of the Loony Left World.

I'm really beginning to think Dr. Kervorkian was onto something when it came to putting people out of their miser cause it's clear there are no greater miserable folks than those on the Loony Left.

Band Man,I think you and I are going to get along just swell. Thanks for the compliments.

The Streamwood Serpent strikes again!

John "Headchopper" D., I'm not really moving full throttle to the Loony Left. It just sounds that way sometimes when people like Paul"O" are being called on their crap - like intimating someones middle name makes them bad or saying headchopping is okay. It isn't, by the way. I'm just using hyperbole to help demonstrate how strident and stupid what he's saying is. For example: why is waterboarding a US citizen who has never been charged with a crime okay? If we're going to hold someone, we MUST charge them with something. Is sinking to their level the most effective tool I could use? No, of course not. Using a reasoned arguement, though, is a waste of time with people like that.

I used to think the conservatives had some good ideas. (Balanced budget, secure borders, education reform ... but where did those go?) Some still do. Mostly, though, that ended with the advent of the hate-spewing cheneybush regime. To be Conservative doesn't really have to mean intolerance, bigotry and mindless acceptance of clearly stupid governocracy, does it?

Please don't mistake overt hatred of the cheneybush regime for hatred of conservative values or conservative people. It doesn't make me either loony or left. It's just hatred of cheneybush - not the Right Wing or the Republicans, just the extremists. You know the type: the ones who believe they have the right to brand others as unacceptabe, the ones who think their personal religion should control my life, the ones who think they have the right to violate our sacred Constitution, the ones who think "losing" $8 billion is okay, the ones who think killing babies in Iraq is acceptable but wrong for a woman in America, the ones who think they have the God-given wisdom to know whose head should be chopped off and whose shouldn't.

Sometimes the "fight fire with fire" spirit escapes and I start sounding like those I rebutt. Sorry for that. The truth is that I support both Republicans and Democrats. I think Dennis Cucinich is just as loony as Bill O'Reilly. Ralph Nader & Rush Limbaugh, of course, are crazy and in a class by themselves.

Is it difficult for some of your folks to live out their in the "I'm always right" village?

Well then mudsy you are all entitled to my opinion then too don’t ya think ... and here it is …

The left is full of hate and intolerance and prone to substituting name calling for reasoned dialog. I thank you for demonstrating another fine example for all to see.

The hatred of the Soros wing of the party will be the reason that the democrats will lose the coming Presidential election.

Gotcha fool –

Band Man takes a bow as he exits stage left… bada bing \ I’ll be back!
Oh, by the way me IQ is a tad higher den dat 60 ya said… oh this is fun

Snalg, Ok, you're not a Loon and be thankful for that.

But when you talk about bigotry, hatred, not accepting, etc., can you be honest and tell me the comments from the Loony Left aren't worse than just about anything from the Right?

I may cringe when Robertson or the late Falwell opened their mouths (and believe they have said some real head scratchers), but anything they have said does not even come close to the hateful, intolerant nonsense from the Loony Left. And then you have these Bozos who post as others (including my boss on several occasions), well, sorry, but that behavior is sick and disturbing. Right?
