White House shopping Homeland Security job?: The Swamp

Frances Townsend, White House homeland security advisor, said she declined the offer to consider job of Homeland Security Secretary currently held by Chertoff in a recent conversation with the White House, said a source with direct knowledge of the conversation.

A spokesman for Chertoff declined to comment this morning about whether his boss had been asked to step into the attorney general’s post. Chertoff, a 53-year-old Harvard-educated lawyer, may be a tough sell to a Democratic-controlled Senate because of his department's incompetent response to Hurricane Katrina and his support of the administration's aggressive anti-terror tactics.

He also made key Democratic enemies in the mid-1990s as counsel to the GOP Whitewater committee investigating the business dealings of President Bill Clinton and first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, who is now a New York senator and a leading candidate for president.

But Chertoff also has impeccable legal credentials. He was a federal judge on the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which handles appeals from New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania and the Virgin Islands. Before that, he was assistant attorney general in the Department of Justice's criminal division from 2001 to 2003.

Gonzales, the embattled attorney general accused of perjury and politicizing the Justice Department, resigned this morning after rebuffing calls for his resignation for months.

New York Sen. Charles Schumer, a Democrat who was the first to call for his resignation, celebrated the news this morning. "It has been a long and difficult struggle but at last, the attorney general has done the right thing and stepped down," Schumer said. "For the previous six months, the Justice Department has been virtually nonfunctional and desperately needs new leadership.”

Maybe Bush could finally make good on his promise to be a "uniter, not a divider" and select someone from outside his typical limited circle of cronies, someone with a record of non-partisanship who has been a respected servant of the law. The people need a sign of hope here, Mr President. We'll see.

Whether the terror alerts were phony or not, I think the briefings would have been a lot more fun to watch if Ms. Townsend had become chief of Homeland Security.

Well, I am not a Chertoff fan and would like to see the position go to someone else. The fill-in at the moment seems very capable to me and the Left doesn't like him, so that makes it a cinch.

It can now be reported that George W. Bushfraud wants to appoint current head of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff for Attorney General of the United States.

Item No. 1: Chertoff, who is linked directly to the Israeli Mossad, is the author of the noted Patriot Act, which has helped to direct espionage against the American People.

Chertoff is also a 9/11 co-conspirator having, as New Jersey U.S. Attorney, and Assistant U.S. Attorney General, covered up the role of the noted 9/11 linked Urban Moving Systems' "Dancing Israelis".

Item No. 2: The traitor Chertoff is a firewall for the Bush-Clinton Crime Syndicate.

Chertoff conspired to cover up the death of Vince Foster.

It was then Vice President Albert Gore Jr., former FBI Director William Sessions, General Vernon Walters and Ambassador Leo Wanta, along with FBI informant Vince Foster, that tried to have notorious Bush-Clinton-Mossad bagman Marc Rich arrested in early 1993.

Note: Former French President Francois Mitterrand also had a European INTERPOL Red Notice issued for the arrest of Marc Rich.

It should also be reported that the criminal Mossad agent Chertoff was the only U.S. Attorney not fired by daddy Bush's little stooge Bill Clinton after Clinton took office in 1993.

And, it gets worse!

The Mossad agent Chertoff, along with Karl Rove, used the Patriot Act as a vehicle to fire U.S. Attorneys for the purpose of a massive Bush-Clinton Obstruction of Justice scheme.
