On his last day in New York today, after meetings in and around the United Nations, President Bush raised some more money for the Republican Party.
His motorcade pulled out of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel before noon today, sped long a deserted FDR Drive -- what a sight for New Yorkers; helps when the Secret Service closes the roads -- and got off on the Upper East Side. Bush arrived at the Fifth Avenue apartment of Jennifer Yafa, chairman of the Manhattan Republican Party, and Roger Yaffa.
The pool reporters following the president were held at the nearby Three Guys restaurant, where a plate of broiled Boston scrod fetches $13.95.
The Republican National Committee said the event pulled in about $1 million -- enough to buy 71,428 slabs of scrod, by pooler Joe Curl's math. With thanks to Joe.
The president left at about 12:30, his racing motorcade escorted along the East River by police boats. His helicopter lifted off from Wall Street, and Air Force One left JFK International Airport, returning the president to Washington this afternoon.

The Democrats will probably feel like they've been "scrod" by that mackaral
of a fund-raising fishing expedition.

People are still paying to see this guy?
You would think there would be better things to see and do in New York.

From Wikipedia:
Scrod (or schrod) is not actually a specific type of fish, but rather a generic term for a young (2-lb or less) cod or, less frequently, haddock, split and deboned. It is a staple in many Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island seafood and fish markets, but is rarely found outside New England and New York.
A dubious folk etymology holds that the term comes from the acronym "Small Cod [or Haddock] Remaining On Dock", but it more likely comes from the obsolete Dutch schrood, piece cut off. Another dubious folk etymology holds that "scrod" is cod and "schrod" is haddock.
"Schrood" seems appropriate, although "piece cut off" may be a bit too much information.

Scrod is great with 'Soogie Platz'; It's the Eastern Euro equivalent of 'surf and turf'.

Journalist Joe Curl doesn't take into account taxes for the gov't or a tip for the working waitstaff. I always thought the lib journalist cared for the working people.

All I know is when the loony left is asked to Stay the Course, they seem to be hard of herring.

Hairy Terry,
I'll ask your wife the next time she stops by.

John E., Terry's wife says you can't, hmmm, how do we say this? Well, let's just say all the viagra in the world apparently can't help you.
And Terry's wife wasn't visiting you to get anything either. Word has it she is a social worker and was assigned your case. She too recommends institutionalization at the Elgin Hospital.
