First trains, then a boat interupt Obama: The Swamp

The Swamp

By John McCormick

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Wednesday night, it was trains – two of them. Thursday night, it was a boat.

Sen. Barack Obama is getting used to having his speeches interrupted by modes of transportation.

"We've got trains and ice cream," Obama said, referring to the interruptions the previous evening in Davenport, Iowa, and his mis-informed notion that music playing from a calliope here was coming from an ice cream vendor. "It’s an ice cream boat."

It turns out it was just a passing riverboat cruising the nearby Mississippi River. (A reporter on the scene was unable to determine whether the boat was carrying any ice cream.) After the brief distraction, the Illinois Democrat proceeded with his presidential campaign speech about Iraq to the roughly 400 people gathered.

The boat and train interruptions this week followed a lengthy one caused by a passing freight train during a stop Obama made in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, on a 4th of July tour across eastern Iowa. (He also swallowed a bug in the middle of that appearance.)

As the senator well knows, it's rough -- and noisy -- on the campaign trail.

Obama Drips Mustard on His Tie
By Ferd Berfle

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Thursday afternoon while lunching on a corndog, Sen. Barak Obama dripped mustard on his favorite tie. As aides and securiy rushed to wrestle the corndog to the ground, the senator quickly regained his composure and quipped "Must be a Republican corndog."

While talking to reporters later, the senator grew sombre and noted, "This is a serious loss. It's not just that the tie was expensive and a hand made one-of-kind -- heck I have a lot of those -- this one was a gift from Norm Hsu, so it's irreplacable."

John D,

Honestly with comments like that why do you waste your time here? I'm being serious.

If Obama can't tell the difference between a calliope and a ice cream vendor, I for one don't want him running the country. A 4th of July firecracker might make him think the country's being attacked.

Good to see The Swamp is reporting on the important things in the presidential campaign. To think, I might have voted without this critical information!

ALL ABOARD THE BARACK OBAMA FOR PREZ TRAIN!

-Train leaves @ 7:00 AM from John D's house in Streamwood-

..."This Swamp is so silly, it's pathetic."...

...yet, we always seem to find your comments here...

...now that's silly and pathetic...

Thanks, John E., I hope all Loony Lefty Barack supporters show up at my house to take a trip to the next Obama campaign stop. When all the Loons are in the van, we'll take a nice trip across the most rickety bridge possible and relive the Kennedy-Kopechne moment! Just remember, I'll be driving.
