The Swamp

by Tom Brune

"Don’t judge others lest you be judged.”

That’s what Rudy Giuliani told a Christian Broadcasting Network interviewer Thursday when asked about his troubled family life, with three marriages and a strained relationship with his two children.

Comparing himself to the accused adulterous woman whose life was spared by the intervention of Jesus, Giuliani cited the Biblical story in an apparent jab at presidential rivals who subtly raise his messy life.

“I’m guided a lot by the story of the woman that was going to be stoned, and Jesus put the stones down and said ‘He that hasn’t sinned cast the first stone,’ and everybody disappeared,” Giuliani said.

“It seems like nowadays in America we have people that think they could’ve passed that test,” Giuliani said. “And I don’t think anybody could’ve passed that test but Jesus.”

While Giuliani mentioned no names, a top GOP rivals for the White House, Mitt Romney, often invokes the support of his five sons and his marriage to his high school sweetheart in ads and on the stump as a contrast to Giuliani’s history.

Giuliani, who talked to CBN’s David Brody while campaigning in California at the end of the week, also revealed he prays to Jesus for guidance, but did not talk about how often he goes to church.

And turned again to his 9/11 experience to explain taking a call from his wife Judith on his cell phone while addressing the National Rifle Association.

“Since Sept. 11, most of the time when we get on a plane, we talk to each other and just reaffirm the fact that we love each other,” he said.

He denied that taking the call was a stunt or tactic.

Meanwhile, in a Bloomberg Television interview to be aired this weekend former President Bill Clinton complained Giuliani is “not accurate” in “what he’s saying about what we did on terror.”

On the trail, Giuliani is often critical of the terrorism reponse by Clinton, whose wife Hillary is the leading Democratic presidential contender.

Clinton defended his administration’s record on terrorism, saying those responsible for bombings in New York and overseas had been caught.

He dismissed Giuliani’s charges, saying, “It’s the political season.”

Yeah, don't judge him. He's only been married three times, cheats on his wife, wants to continue a war that America doesn't want, and is hated by most people in New York. He's a great guy! We should elect him because he will definitely change America for the better. NOT!!!

There's only one republican running with the integrity to speak out against the current policy and end the war in Iraq! His name is Ron Paul!

Hmm, I'm not a biblical scholar, but it seems to me that Rudy took the wrong message from the parable. Christ was encouraging mercy, not giving permission to commit adultery.

'Don't judge others lest you be judged'??

What he's really saying is don't judge him. With his track record & his attempts to appear conservative, he can't afford to be judged.

I'm with athena on this one. Liberals have gotten this issue wrong for years... Christ did not clean out the temple of moneychangers through non-judgmental methods. He did it with a whip.

If you don't judge (or weigh) the people running for President of the US against each other, how are you possibly supposed to come to any sort of decision?

Rudy is a formidable leader in a crisis and I'd vote for him over any of the Democrats in a heartbeat, but he's definitely no social conservative and that counts against him when I weigh him against other candidates running for the Republican nomination.

you guys read too much into this stuff.

all he is saying is that "he is not perfect" and neither are any of us

Neither did Jesus suggest the woman be named Emperor.

What Jesus did say was "go and sin no more." Note to Rudy: the key word here is "go".

So the bottom line is it's cool for him to pass judgment on others but it's not cool for others to pass judgment on him. Nice.

My jaw is getting tired from dropping open in amazement everytime a repub says something. So what about Rudy passing judgement on everyone who didn't want to condemn MoveOn, which Rudy was first to pass judgement on?

So Rudy has some problems with former wives and his kids don't like him,but al-least he can protect us,unlike B.J.Clinton who was getting gratifification from Monica while 9/11 was being planned under his nose.

Ya know what he means. Don't judge mr. and mrs. clinton on the sex scandal unless you be judged. I knew that somewhere in that book of republican family values the chapter on judging people is right after adultery. I knew it, and he is soo quick to whip that out several years too late. Book of Family Values : do onto others as you would have done onto you when it concerns you; otherwise, please proceed and cast the first stone.

Yeah, all you Dems have such a great moral compass when Clinton/Caligula's wife is running for President...Somebody should ask Hillary where her cigars go.

Mike Huckabee, Republican candidate and an ordained minister, recently noted that the Clintons should be given credit for working on their marriage, staying together, and raising a fine daughter. Maybe there's a lesson in there for some folks.

Paulo forgot to mention Bush in the "under his nose" comment. We all remember the memo "Bin Laden Determined to Strike Within the United States". Sure that was just an oversight by good ol Paulo. He'll soon be asleep tonight, hugging his Rudy doll, feeling safe from the terrorists. Wow.

. . . unlike B.J.Clinton who was getting gratifification from Monica while 9/11 was being planned under his nose.

Osama still had to wait until Bush became prez, knowing he'd just gaze into space upon being told our country was under attack.
I'm still waiting to hear an explanation of that. Care to offer one?

If my memory serves me, it was you on the "rightious right" that had the problem with the Clinton scandal. Now you're hypocrites whining because the chickens have come home to roost. Keep pulling out those bible quotes when they serve your purpose.

Corley Everett:

That is an extremely nasty comment. This is the kind of rhetoric that keeps us divided. I may not like your politics and the hate you spew but you have a right to voice your opinion. I wish on this Sunday morning, you find some peace.

Good luck with that, Rudy.

These aptly named 'movement' Christians are vicious.

Paulo's/John D's/Bruce's song

Moving in silent desperation
Keeping an eye on the holy land
A hypothetical destination
Say, who is this walking ☁ ?

Well, the leaves have come to turning
And the goose has gone to fly
And bridges are for buning
So dont you let that yearning
Pass you by
Walking turd, walking turd walks
Well, any other man stops and talks
But the walking turd walks

Well the frost is on the pumpkin
And the hay is in the barn
An pappys come to rambling on
Stumbling around drunk
Down on the farm

And the walking ☁ walks
Doesnt know nothing at all
Any other man stops and talks
But the walking ☁ walks on by
Walk on by

Most everybodys got seed to sow
It aint always easy for a weed to grow, oh no
So he dont hoe the row for no one
Oh for sure hes always missing
And something is never quite right♫
Ah, but who would want to listen to you
Kissing his existence good night

Walking ☁ walk on by my door
Well, any other man stops and talks
But not the walking ☁♬
