Rudy Giuliani ripped Hillary Rodham Clinton with her own words on Thursday -- saying she supports the “politics of personal destruction” for not backing a measure condemning a liberal attack on Gen. David Petraeus.

Clinton was only one of 25 senators, all Democrats, who opposed Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn’s amendment to “strongly condemn” MoveOn.Org for running newspaper ads referring to the general as “Betray Us.”

“I'm not intimidated by MoveOn.org.. . . I think they are the worst thing in American politics,” Giuliani said after arriving in Virginia from a fundraising trip to England. “They are precisely what the Clintons used to talk about as participating in the politics of personal destruction."

Bill and Hillary Clinton used that phrase often in the 1990s to defend themselves during the Monica Lewinsky and impeachment crises.

Giuliani went on to claim he was “the best standard-bearer for our party against Hillary Clinton or against Barack Obama or possibly a combination of both.”

Clinton’s campaign had no comment.

On Wednesday former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack, a Clinton supporter, questioned Giuliani’s electability, citing the former mayor’s “marriages” and family woes.

Both Obama and Clinton supported a failed resolution Thursday that would cut off war funding if withdrawal benchmarks aren’t met.

In the past, Clinton has avoided getting too close to anti-war groups like MoveOn, but her vote Thursday was a recognition of the movement’s unflagging influence in the Democratic primary.

Hypocrites all. Not only did the Repugs have ties to the swiftboat liars, Bush rewarded a contributer with an ambassadorship.
Let's examine the Kurik-Giuliani more closely. At least as closely as Monica's dress.

Very sad for repubs when they have to use a democrat to keep their names in the news.

All Giuliani can do is attack others...Has he said anything about what he is going to do as the next President--less talking crap more educated talk...Americans are sick and tired of the fighting and attacking...Talk about the real issues, should I list them all here?

Giuliani is a hypocrite and a fraud. He is also the least qualified candidate running for President out of the entire field. Is he going to condemn the RNC for their dishonest, untruthful, and slanderous personal attacks against Democrats each and every election season??

Vince, a couple of months ago, Guiliani released his 12 points he would address as president. Also, I haven't seen much in the way of proposals from Democrats other than negative talk of Bush.

"Chimpy" the swift boat ads? Several big differences, with one of them being those criticizing John Kerry were Vietnam Vets and war heroes themselves. Much of their disdain for Kerry has to do with his testimony on Capitol Hill in 1971 in which he called American soldiers rapists and murderers. The swift boat folks were giving Kerry some payback.
As far as Bush giving an ambassodorship to a donor, gee when was the last time that WASN'T done by a president? 1786?
Hillary, who is afraid of Moveon.org and the Loony Left, is now making little love songs with them to help in the primaries. It should come back to haunt her in the general election. As much as moderates and independents are angry with Bush right now, they have less stomach for the loony left.

These democratic senators voted against comdeming an ad bashing our General, they voted against supporting our troops, and voted against supporting our General...

No longer do these democratic senators get to say "I support the troops", because they are now on record for "not supporting the troops".

And they want to be "Commander-in-Chief" of the US Military?

While Obama makes a vote 20 minutes before and 2 hours afterwords? What a coward his is, to miss this vote.

Good lord, the Democratic party is such a joke. They two-faced lies make me laugh.

Johnny D:

That's right - all those "Swift Boat Veterans" got together and put their money in a pot to run those ads. Never mind that the money came from a right-wing nutjob in Texas who was out to get John Kerry.

Oh and Johnny - those so-called veterans who said they were there when it happened?? NONE of them were on the boat with Kerry when it happened - and those who were on Kerry's boat said that these guys did not know what they were talking about. His fellow boatmates backed Kerry's story.

But watch your hero Rudy today with the NRA. Watch him flip-flop on all of his views on gun control to get the backing of this group - like when he was one of the biggest backers of gun control when he was in NYC.

And you are wrong Johnny - the moderates and independents will stay with Hillary or Obama or whomever is nominated by the Dems as opposed to whomever the Repubs nominate. The GOP candidate will have bent over so far backwards to keep the support of the right-wing base of the party that only the 29% that think Bush is doing a good job will end up voting for them, thereby keeping the independents in our camp.

Kerry was right.Trying to re-write history Pathetic Johnny.Don't listen to Rush on this one,as you know,he wasn't there!

Background

Women and children in My Lai, Vietnam, shortly before U.S. soldiers killed them March 16, 1968.[5] Photo by Ronald L. Haeberle, Charlie Company photographer and one of the My Lai whistleblowersCharlie Company of 1st Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 11th Brigade, Americal Division, arrived in Vietnam in December 1967. Their first month in Vietnam passed without any direct enemy contact. Nevertheless, by mid-March the company suffered 28 casualties, including five dead, many from the mines and booby-traps laid by the unseen enemy.

During the Tet Offensive of January 1968, attacks were carried out in Quang Ngai by the 48th Battalion of the NLF (National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam, commonly referred to as the Viet Cong). U.S. military intelligence formed the view that the 48th Battalion, having retreated, was taking refuge in the village of Song My, in Quang Ngai Province. A number of specific hamlets within that village — designated My Lai 1, 2, 3, and 4 — were suspected of harboring the 48th.

U.S. forces planned a major offensive against those hamlets. Colonel Oran K. Henderson urged his officers to "go in there aggressively, close with the enemy and wipe them out for good."[3] On the eve of the attack, at the Charlie Company briefing, Captain Ernest Medina was asked whether the order included the killing of women and children; those present at the briefing later gave different accounts of Medina's response. Some of the company soldiers, including platoon leaders, later testified were the orders as they understood them were to kill all guerilla and North Vietnamese combatants and "suspects", including women and children, as well as all animals, and burn the village.[4]

The soldiers found no fighters in the village on the morning of March 16. Many suspected there were Viet Cong in the village, hiding underground in the homes of their elderly parents or their wives. The American soldiers, one platoon of which was led by 2Lt William Calley, went in shooting at "suspected enemy position". After the first civilians were killed and wounded by the indiscriminate fire, the soldiers soon began attacking anything that moved, humans and animals alike, with firearms, grenades and bayonets.

The scale of the massacre only spiraled as it progressed, brutality of each killing increasing the next. BBC News described the scene:[1]

Soldiers went berserk, gunning down unarmed men, women, children and babies. Families which huddled together for safety in huts or bunkers were shown no mercy. Those who emerged with hands held high were murdered. ... Elsewhere in the village, other atrocities were in progress. Women were gang raped; Vietnamese who had bowed to greet the Americans were beaten with fists and tortured, clubbed with rifle butts and stabbed with bayonets. Some victims were mutilated with the signature "C Company" carved into the chest. By late morning word had got back to higher authorities and a cease-fire was ordered. My Lai was in a state of carnage. Bodies were strewn through the village.

Dozens of people were herded into a ditch and executed with automatic weapons[7] -- a large group of about 60 to 80 villagers, rounded-up by the 1st Platoon in the center of the village, was executed personally by the platoon leader Calley, and by the soldiers he ordered to shoot. Calley also machinegunned three other large groups of civilians with a weapon taken from a soldier who refused to kill anymore.

After the initial "sweeps" by the 1st and the 2nd Platoon, the 3rd Platoon was sent in to deal with any "remaining resistance." They immediately began killing every still-living human and animal they could find, including shooting the Vietnamese who emerged from their hiding places, and finishing-off the wounded found moaning in the heaps of bodies.

Only one American soldier was injured in My Lai, shot in the foot by himself. The first reports claimed "128 Vietcong" and 22 civilians were killed in the village during a "fierce fire fight." General William Westmoreland, MACV commander, congratulated the unit on the "outstanding job."

Listen up America!! Please take note of how your representatives vote on these very important issues.Do you really want these people in charge of our country. Especially in this hatefilled era we are in?

John D
your crazy...Dems have put more up then the Reps (health plans, war, social security, immigration, education....etc and ect..
quit being a divider..and read up.

Raving Loon you are a raving idiot

Good for Hillary. Who cares what mayor megalomaniac thinks. If you like Shrub, you'll love mayor Wingnut.

How weird it is that all you Anti-American Democrats defend the move-on ad....How weird you Anit-American Democrats hate the Miltary....How weird you Anti-American Democrats love Illegal Immigration.....All you Anti-American Democrats want to do is tell people to do one thing while you do another....Gulliani is a RINO as well as McCain so I dont consider those guys Conservative Republicans.....listen why dont you Hate America Democrats just admit it and say you hate this country because everything that is good for this country you are against.....this politically correct country is already going down the tubes and if there is a Anti-American Democrat elected President then forget about it we are all done.......

No Glenn, we don't hate America, we only hate idiots like you that are ruining our country. Unless you're posting from Iraq, shut your pie hole.

Vince, please tell me what the Dems have put forward on Social Security? Or even the war? What are their immigration proposals? Education proposals? In regard to health care, what they have put forth is rehashed nonsense.

And Bobin, while the swift boat guys weren't "on" Kerry's boat, some were with him, some were in the war and in the same areas as Kerry.

And Loon, please provide links to your above post rather than just a cut and paste.

Were women and children killed? I'm sure some were. It was a war after all. Were women and children also used by the Viet Cong to blow things and kill military personnel? Yes, they were. In war, it is generally kill or be killed.

How weird it is that all you Anti-American Democrats defend the move-on ad..
Posted by: Glenn | September 21, 2007 10:02 AM

Here's the perfect example of the bone headed right. They have been calling everybody unpatriotic for years now. It's always the first words out of their mouths. They don't care if good men that may have come from the left have given their lives to defend this oafs right to do so. If your America is nothing more than McCarthyistic tactics, you can keep it putz.

Three comments:
1) Tom's offhand rejection of 'Raving Loon's' dscptn of MyLai shows he doesn't want to hear the truth about some of the atrocities committed during Vietnam - by both sides.
2)Glenn's diatribe against the Dem's indicates only how successful R's have been in denigrating D's and dividing the country. and
3) John D's rationalization of war crimes (Calley was convicted; others would have been if they had been brought to trial - but we have to "support our troops" don't you know) and the anti-Kerry lies on his svc in Vietnam were not supported by even ONE soldier who actually served with him on those two boats.

John D says:

I think the problem here is that too many Americans have this action movie / video game impression of war. From what I've read war is not something we should be longing for. It isn't us against the bad guys, it is bloody and nasty and if it lasts long enough bad things happen. Were their atrocities committed in Vietnam? Of course, by both sides, it was a war. The same thing is going on in Iraq, how could it not be? Was Kerry right to come back from Vietnam and stand up against it? Well, why wouldn’t he be? He was there, he is an American, he has the right of free speech. That the Republicans attacked him at the time (including the swift boat guy who attacked him in 2004 (recruited by Nixon no less)) just goes to show how phony this Petraeus outrage is. The Republican’s attack the troops when they aren’t either hiding behind them or voting against pay increases, rest time, VA funding….

The GOP doesn’t care about the Military, they care about the military-congressional-industrial complex.

I don't think Bush and the neocon boosters that got us into this war had any idea what war is. They hid when it was their turn and deprived themselves of that knowledge. So now they start a war, because it won't be their kids fighting it just like it wasn't them.

Now little tommy,is that the best you can do? I've run little billy and sad juanie off this blog, you wanna be next?

Johnny D:

Some were in the area??? Some were in the war?? Gee - Viet Nam must be a really small country that they could see what happened with Kerry. And all those men who were in the area - did they actually see what happened?? What about the doctor who said he treated Kerry, and all he had were some cuts that could have band aids on them (you remember the purple band aids all those brave Republicans had on at the GOP convention)?? He did not sign the medical reports on what happened that day - where was he?? And why was it the only Republican who stood up for Kerry on this matter was John McCain??

And also - why is it that the men who were ON THE BOAT with Kerry and SAW what happened all back him on this??

And why not admit that the post from Raving Loon proved the point about some of the things that went on in Viet Nam that Kerry talked about were true?? Instead, we get your mealy-mouthed reply about some civlians get killed in war.

How weird is it that Glenn sits behind his keyboard talking tough while young men and women are stuck in Iraq getting killed and maimed!? How weird that YOU Glenn are here when YOU could be backing up YOUR macho talk patrolling Baghdad streets!? How weird, Glenn?

Bobin, doctors normally are not needed to put band-aids on owies. Kerry's medical records (course, many have been "lost" or "unavailable" do show the senator did receive an owie or two.

Kerry's comments were largely proven wrong, incorrect, lies and exaggerated.

Just like the lies and exaggerations about the Marines and Haditha.

Bob, I think what you're missing here is that Kerry testified before congress about "cutting off ears, noses, heads" without having any firsthand proof that any of that ever happened in Vietnam. He was forced to admit his obfuscation on a television program just weeks after his 1971 testimony.

Why would Kerry denigrate our troops to congress without firsthand proof? It's like Dan Rather claiming that his report on George W. Bush's service was "still true" even though all the evidence underlying behind has been established to be falsified and wrong.

Kerry wasn't at MyLai. Kerry didn't personally know Lieutenant Calley. Kerry had no right to paint all 500,000 men in country with that brush with his testimony. And all the swiftboat vets served longer in Vietnam than Kerry did, so you can't really say they weren't there. Let's remember that their feelings about Senator Kerry were formed in the '60s and '70s and go WAY beyond any political ideology. They said they would have released that book about him if he were running for dog catcher, let alone president.

LOL! You go, Rudy! Show Hillary for the BS'er that we all know she is. She likes to paint herself as a "moderate" but at heart she's still the same radical leftist whack job that she was back in the 1960s. The fruitbats on the far left, the "nutroots", have taken over the Democratic Party and it's only good politics for a Republican candidate to publicly make the Democratic candidates either do the right thing and denouce that childish, disgusting ad or kiss up to their leftist base by refusing to do so, thereby showing the rest of the electorate who really runs the Democratic Party these days. LMAO! It's "McGovern in '72" all over again!!!

Oh, and as for the "swiftboating" thing, get over it already. Regardless of whether their allegations were true or not, the fact that so many of the people who served in Kerry's outfit were so aghast at the idea of him becoming president that they formed Swift Boat Veterans for Truth tells me all I need to know. The guy is completely full of $#!t, just like every other Democrat today with a few notable exceptions like Joe Lieberman.

The Ad Police, er, US Congress is coming to get you? Watch what you say. Shhhhh!

Oh, and as for the "swiftboating" thing, get over it already. Regardless of whether their allegations were true or not,

Yeah...don't let a little thing like truth get in the way Dan.

Listen, Weinerdog, Bill and Janet.....dont blame me because you are miserable Democrats and that the only reason why the Democrats do what they do is so can stay in power and create as many dependents as possible so that these people will think the Democrats are looking out for them....what did Bill Clinton do while he was if office besides start a War to avoid the situation he was in.....also I am as big a supporter to the Troops than anyone and why is it all we see on the News are bad things that are going on in Iraq why doesnt the News show the good things that are happening in Iraq, like schools being built and kids playing soccer and stuff like that...I will tell you why because the Liberal Media doesnt want to show you anything thing whether it be in Iraq or anywhere in the world because all Liberals do is focus on the negative things....also why is it that I should have the press 1 for English and 2 for Spanish....is that discrimination to you I mean what about the Italians and Germans and Polish and other Languages you should have an option to press....if you Liberals are all about being fair then why dont you complain about that....

"Rudy Giuliani ripped Hillary Rodham Clinton with her own words on Thursday -- saying she supports the “politics of personal destruction” for not backing a measure condemning a liberal attack on Gen. David Petraeus."

Rudy should realize that there are more important things for the Senate to work on than condemning free speach.

http://www.rudy-urbanlegend.com/

Freedom of speech. Just watch what you say!!!

The Swift Boat Veterans were formed to discredit Kerry and throw reporters off Bush's AWOL. John O'Neil, one of the founders, had an axe to grind because of Kerry's testimony to Congress. O'Neil did NOT serve on the boats at the same time as Kerry, and most of the other witness were proven to be lying. Maybe their motivation was money.

Several posters have their records stuck here. Whatever the length of Kerry's service record, it's longer than Bush's and Cheney's. The fact that he has to defend himself at all proves that veterans are not supported.

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Swift_Boat_Veterans_for_Truth_Republican_Connection

The Republicans should have disavowed the ads but they were paying for them.

Listen, Weinerdog, Bill and Janet.....dont blame me because you are miserable DemocratsPosted by: Glenn | September 21, 2007 12:10 PM

But with you representing the republicans....you "are" the reason I'm a democrat. You can toss around the unpatriotic, unAmerican, bull all you want, but unlike your view of the war from your big screen tv, I "have" put my life on the line for this country, and chumps like you also. Those are the reasons I find you repulicans lacking, you all talk a big game until it comes to the crunch. The hypocricy runs rampent in the party. Family values? Yeah right. Conservative on the budget? Yeah right. Gays, flag burning, yeah...you guys got game anyway.

How you coming on providing links giving PROOF POSITIVE to your allegation that Edwards as much for his suits as Bush? Still NON-EXISTENT, I see. Why is that?

what did Bill Clinton do while he was if office besides start a War to avoid the situation he was in.....

Posted by: Glenn | September 21, 2007 12:10 PM

Alright this Glenn character is a joke. Ha, Ha! Someone's caricature of a typical Republic goon. In any case...yes good question what did Bill Clinto do? Oh yes he tried to assassinate Osama Bin Laden and at the time was accused by Republics of "wagging the dog" and here you are 10 years later still mad as hell that he tried to pre-empt 9/11. Maybe if you and your goon party would've supported Bill Clinton's attempt and authorized him to use the full force of the US military against al-Qaeda...well I hope you see what I'm getting at.

True statement: You are judged by the company you keep. So you people who side with Hillary and the extreme leftist
anti-military, anti-American Move-On are
right there together. So we know who
you are. From that point on, there is no hint of credibility. And there is none for Norman Hsu's favorite recipient of defrauded money, Mrs. Clinton.

The swift boat folks were giving Kerry some payback.

Posted by: John D | September 21, 2007 9:04 AM

And they paid him back by lying.
Are there only Nine Commandments, JohnnyTantrum? Or does the end justify the means?

Hey Bill....how do you know I didnt servce in the Military.....how do you know I didnt put my life on the line like you did...hey I have a great respect for the Military and I think we have the Best and Most Powerful Military in the World but they are limited in what they can do in the field because the "rules of engagement" so favor the enemy.....Bill I want all of you to know we need to stick together and shouldnt argue with one another....but if you really look around you will see that this country is falling to Pieces and it is due to Illegal Immigration and that is not going to change until we stop hiring Illegals or giving them benefits....they laugh at our system because whatever they want they get for the most part and when they dont get what they want the cry racism....they overcrowd our schools, overcrowd our emergency rooms, dont have car insurance, dont pay taxes, etc, etc, etc...and 9/11 would've never happened if our Immigration System wasnt broken but if we try to fix it we are called racist.....

Dumb Dumb Janet, please tell us when Bill Clintoon tried to assassinate bin Laden? Was that the same time Hillary "killed Vernon Jordan"??? But, please Dumb Dumb Janet, tell us when BillyBoy tried to assassinate bin Laden. Are you referring to the time Clintoon sent a cruise missile to blow up an EMPTY Al Qaeda training camp, his ONLY attempt ever at trying to get bin Laden?
And, Dumb Dumb BC, still on John Edwards suits, huh? Course, you are the same mental midget that does not know that about one-third or so of Cuba borders the Gulf of Mexico.
Ahh, the Dumb Dumb Brigade, otherwise known as the Loony Left's Mental Midget Army.

John D...you are so right I dont think Clinton ever wanted to catch or kill Bin Laden because at the time Clinton didnt see Bin Laden as a big threat and also the Saudi's offered to hand Bin Laden over several times and Clinton didnt want to do it...so Janet has no idea what she is talking about but that is to be expected coming from a Democrat.....

"John D...you are so right I dont think Clinton ever wanted to catch or kill Bin Laden because at the time Clinton didnt see Bin Laden as a big threat and also the Saudi's offered to hand Bin Laden over several times and Clinton didnt want to do it..."

Really? That's not what longtime terrorism expert Richard Clarke says in his book "Against All Enemies." Or are you going to tell me that Mr. Clarke, who worked for Reagan, Bush I, Clinton and Bush II is a partisan hack? http://slate.com/id/2097803/

Or try this from the nonpartisan Factcheck.org

http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2006/osama_bin_missing_whos_tried_hardest_to.html

Your talking points are worn out and completely counter-factual.

Furthermore, if catching Bin Laden is so damn easy, why can't President Bush get him with more time, essentially limitless resources and, before his Iraq adventure, world opinion completely behind him?

Slandering the ranking American general in Iraq is no laughing matter. Unfortunately, not one of the Democratic candidates for commander in chief had the backbone to condemn this ad.
My question is simple: If a candidate for president is too scared of an American political organizationi to criticize it, how can he or she take on terrorists bent on destroying American and indeed Western civilization itself?

Shorter Glenn: once i dreamed i was in the Boy Scouts, but i wet my sleeping bag. Those darn Democrats, they scared me!

"Swift Boat Liars", huh? Tell me this, Chimpy: What does it say about someone when a significant percentage of the men who served with him in Vietnam were so alarmed at the prospect of him becoming president that they organized to prevent it? The bonds forged in wartime are supposed to be among the strongest of all. And yet these men detested John Kerry enough not only to not support him for president, but to actively campaign against him! That tells me all I need to know right there. Kerry was & is full of it, just like 99% of all Democrats.
