The Swamp

by John McCormick

DAVENPORT, Iowa -- There must be something about Iowa, trains and Sen. Barack Obama.

As the presidential candidate was starting to give a speech about Iraq at a pavilion on the banks of the Mississippi River here, a passing freight train started blasting its horn. It was similar to a speech-stopping incident that happened in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, over the 4th of July weekend.

"Is George Bush driving that train?" the Illinois Democrat asked the audience of several hundred. "Are they trying to keep me from telling the truth?"

After pausing for a couple minutes, the train finally passed and gave the crowd a fancy parting horn blast. "That was pretty good. I think he is voting for me," Obama said.

About 15 minutes later, during a question-and-answer session, another train blasted by.

The nation should be honking horns for Obama! Clearly the most capable candidate in the field.

Seems the candidate needs to do a little research -- trains (engineers) are required by federal regulations to blow the horn in certain situations, such as grade crossings, roadway workers on or about the tracks and tresspassers.
Since trains cannot steer to avoid problems, they only have 3 ways to help people avoid being hurt: 1) Be in speed compliance 2) Have headlight on bright 3) Blow the horn (whistle).

Keo, Thanks for the education on engineers and federal regulations. But I think Obama was just making a little, um, joke. Ever hear of one? Geesh.

ALL ABOARD THE OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT TRAIN!

Oh, come on! He was making a joke! I detect a little density there in the head area.

Hilarious... yawn.

But nobody is preventing him from telling the truth, so he should give it it try sometime.
