Touching, but off point. What Obama, and most of the others, fail to address is whether the Federal government should even be in the business of health care. Ron Paul suggests that such a bloated bureaucracy will mean less care, longer wait times and restricted services. I believe him. By making health care an option and letting the several states take up the slack, the system might possibly work. Despite the touching story, Obama needs to re-think this issue. It won't work.

Ok I will go slow. First, yes his mother is Caucasian and his (Bio)Father is African. Its called genetics the fathers genes are dominate so the child comes out with dark skin. His fathers name is Barack Hussein Obama his Mother's Africa name is (hold on get ready for this)Sarah Hussein Onyango Obama. So Sr. got Hussein from his mother and Jr. got it from his daddy. You bring up an interesting point. Obama is continually touted as a "black" guy and not a mixed race guy. Unfortunately in the US you can be 75% white and a quarter black but your black blood makes you black for some odd reason. Forget about being raised in a white people in a white neighborhoods. The funny thing is Obama never mentioned his race until the media started calling him a "black candidate." It goes to show you that the one-drop rule and other vestiges from Americas past are alive and thriving. We still have these stupid labels that make no sense.

If you want cheaper health care then guess what, the standard of care is going to be reduced. You only ever get what you pay for and anyone who tries to tell you differently is a liar or too stupid to know how full of crap they are.

It is ironic that he could not spare the time to be with his mother as she died but can use her death for his campaign now. I find that rather cold.

Now he wants to admit who his family is??? I cant believe the history that I have read on him today. I am soooo disappointed. What is the truth??? How can he hide all these things and the press not jump on it??? No one else could do that. This is unsettling and weird.

Obama's mother wasn't even in the United States when she was diagnosed with cancer. There would be no reason for a US insurance carrier to cover her considering she wasn't living in the US. When she moved back fro treatment, this would have been considered pre-existing and not covered. She should have had an international policy in place which would have covered treatment outside the US.

What I find interesting is that Obama never claims that his mother was denied coverage; only that she was concerned about her coverage and had to fill out insurance forms and look over some medical bills. We all have bills to look at and forms to fill out - Been to the DMV lately? Plus, if she was incurable... why bother worrying about the bills anyway? Once your're dead, what are they going to take from you? It's not like she had small children or even owned her own home for them to take.

This is just another attempt to tug at the heartstrings of Americans. A mother with a PhD, a life of private schools and Ivy league colleges, and we're supposed to believe that he's just like us.

Obama never said his change in policy will cure cancer, and although his mother was indeed probably never denied insurance coverage, to imply so was totally beside his point. How would you feel if your mother was in hospital with a fatal illness, not knowing whether she would live or die and having to fill in all these forms and have unnecessary worry? She may not have had small children or owned her own home but the bottom line is, she did not know long long she was going to live and she had medical bills to pay - of course there would be forms. I would suggest it's a little more distressing filling these kinds of forms out while your family are watching you dying rather than the kind you fill out at the DMV. To imply otherwise is insultingly insensitive. Nobody would want to watch their loved ones do that. I cannot understand anyone who would prefer cold, meaningless words to a personal story.

And for those who speculate so much about Obama's race, religion, heritage, upbringing and beliefs, I suggest you read his book Dreams From My Father. He wrote it long before he knew he would be president and I don't think anyone could say his accounts are not honest.
