The members of the Wall Street Journal's editorial board are worried about Rudy Giuliani.
So much so that they've put together a bit of an intervention in the form of an editorial that ran this morning.
The editorial noted that Giuliani took the odd turn (as documented here in the Swamp) of answering his cell phone in the middle of a speech last Friday to the National Rifle Association. It was his wife, Judith, and the presidential candidate took a minute to engage in the kind of electronic pillow talk you hear every day in your office. Giuliani later remarked after ending the call: "It's better that way." (Rudy, an aside: Been there, done that. Say no more.)
It was shtick, of course -- he'd done it before. But not everyone was amused, including some NRA members in the audience (people who live on that short list of those you definitely do not want to anger) and now, the Wall Street Journal.
"The rap on his candidacy, however, is that his personal history and behavior are simply too strange for someone who wants to sit in the Oval Office," the Journal wrote. "Voters will decide whether that's true, but if nothing else Mr. Giuliani ought to be aware of this vulnerability and do nothing to compound it."
In closing the editorial noted that "Giuliani doesn't need more weird."
We're not sure the Swamp would agree with that. There's still a lot of time in this presidential race, and after a while, weird is what we long for.

And this blog would be boring without weird. The moment John D and Bruce went away, it just wouldn't be the same. Speaking of, where's Paulo lately? Rudy's not going to win anyway, so he might as well keep it light for us.

I don't know about weird, but he is by far the scariest candidate of all of them, and the only one capable of actually being worse than George Walker Bush.

Funny how all the Republics crawled out of the woodwork to chime in on the MoveOn "scandal" but are oddly silent when one of their own has been caught exploiting a NATIONAL TRAGEDY for POLITICAL GAIN. Is there not a decent Republican who can speak out?

Rudy has $$$ profited $$$ off of the tragedy of 9/11 almost as much as George W Bush and Dick Cheney.

And the price of admission to one of his fundraisers the other night? $9.11.
Not that he would ever exploit that tragic day...

For a brief moment I thought they were talking about GWB.

The Republicans and the Giuliani should be honest. They owe a lot to 9-11. It has been their best friend, not their greatest threat.
If there was no 9-11 there would have been no second term for Bush and Giuliani would be out looking for wife #4.

We need Giuliani. Thompson is a two-bit character actor. Romney is a stiff...reminds me of Al Gore. Giuliani is the shameless hustler, always working the crowd for a buck (or 9.11 bucks), always ready to pander to the audience, and always ready with his standard schtick, whether the marks like him or not. I'll never vote for him, but I'm sure he'll be fun to watch.

This guy is going to get smoked. Their is not an ounce of 'presidential' in his body. I hope he gets nominated so that Hillary can castrate him.

D and V,
Brokeback Brownback
Mitt Willard
Dressed to Kill Rudy
I ☄ Huckabee
The Tan-Cretin
McCain the' $750,000,000,000.00 Apologist'
Fred Thompson Sub-machine gun Hand
Duck and Dive Hunter
Ron Paul
They all look scary to me.
The only two with human traits seem to be McCain and Paul.
But both are too conservative for my vote.
McCain forfeited any chance of winning the center with his Right Wing Shuffle routine.

BLACKWATER STORM TROOPS
These guys remind me of the Chicago Police Dept. (a.k.a. “Daley’s Goon Squad”) - sadistic bullies recruited by Mayor Daley solely to break heads. Chicago’s eunuch police review board, aptly named OOPS- continues to whitewash CPD brutality and citizen mistreatment, as does Condaleesa Rice for the Blackwater Bastards. But hey, that’s just Richie and Condi!
