9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. CONGRESSIONAL PREVIEW — The Brookings Instition hosts a panel, “Congressional Report Card and Fall Preview: Is the Broken Branch on the Mend? Panelists: Thomas E. Mann, Senior Fellow, Brookings; Sarah Binder, Senior Fellow, Brookings; and Norman J. Ornstein, Resident Scholar, American Enterprise Institute.
Location: Murrow Room, National Press Club.

12 p.m. IRAQ PROTEST — The America Stands Watch organization plans a protest by veterans who will stand to protest the Iraq war.
Location: Senate Chamber gallery.

1 p.m. CLIMATE CHANGE-FAST — On the first day of Congress's fall session, national religious, student and climate leaders will join to explain why they and others from every state in the nation will be fasting to call on Congress to pass meaningful climate legislation.
Location: Lower Senate Park, U.S. Capitol grounds, corner of Louisiana Avenue and D Street NW.
