John Edwards adviser Joe Trippi went off on Hillary Clinton today over the "Washington insider" thing Tuesday, prompting a Clinton aide to accuse Trippi of trying to prop up Edwards' "flagging" third-place campaign.
Trippi, Howard Dean's 2004 E-genius, slammed HRC for holding a $25,000-per-bundler, homeland security-themed fundraiser in DC today. His E-mailed pitch to under-$100 Edwards donors is worth reading in its entirety, but if you're rushing out to lunch, just check out Trippi's the killer Cross-of-Gold conclusion:
"If you want to know why we need change in Washington — and I mean real change, not just trading corporate Republican insiders with corporate Democratic insiders — then just look at Senator Clinton's schedule for today.
In other news, today at noon, Clinton hosted a fundraiser in Washington, D.C. for a select group of lobbyists with an interest in homeland security.
Tickets for the Clinton fundraiser are $1,000 a ticket and $25,000 per bundler. And for that money you get more than a meal — you get to attend one-hour breakout sessions in four different areas of homeland security that will include House Committee Chairs and members of Congress who sit on the very committees that will be voting on homeland security legislation.
The American people know that the system in Washington has become corroded and corrupt — that the nation's capital is awash in campaign money from lobbyists seeking to gain influence to impact legislation.
Today's Clinton fundraising event is a "poster child" for what is wrong with Washington and what should never happen again with a candidate running for the highest office in the land.
That no one in the Clinton campaign — including the candidate — found anything wrong with holding this fundraiser is an indication of just how bad things have gotten in Washington — because there isn't an American outside of Washington who would not be sickened by it."
Corroded, corrupt and sickened?
Hillaryland’s Phil Singer shot back: "Increasingly negative attacks against other democrats aren’t going to end the war, deliver universal health care or turn John Edwards' flagging campaign around."

I respect your comments on here, you seem to have a good head on your shoulders BUT this election comes down to one thing for almost everyone, Iraq. Look at the positions being taken, if you vote Republican't (other than Ron Paul), you are voting to continue this #&@*mess in Iraq and you vote to continue to getting our young people killed for nothing but $$$, in a war about nothing but oil and a war that continues to make certain Republican cronies wealthy off it while Americans and Iraqi's continue to die for it.
You make the call....

You obviously have been living under a rock if you dont think surrendering in Iraq is bad for the country. Why do you hate freedom? Why are not the Iraqis worthy of your help to obtain said freedom? Is it because they have brown skin?

No John. This coming election will come down to one thing, me. Just like every other election.

Good for Edwards! he's exposing the RIGGED system in DC - and Hillary is the lobbyists' girl!
John Edwards will be a great President!

Hillary has no shame in wooing homeland security contractors! It's just business as usual in DC.
We need a president who can restore honor and dignity to the White House - one who isn't bought by DC lobbyists!
John Edwards will be a great President!

Let's see.
Darfur
200k-400k dead in a 3 years
2.5M refugees
563 million barrels of oil reserves
Iraq
Sadam Hussein killed ~200k people in 20 YEARS
115 BILLION barrels of oil reserves
Whose freedom is more important?
Posted by: Prophtet | September 18, 2007 4:55 PM
Ah yes Iraq,Iraq,Iraq and America's great lust to spread freedom across the globe, well that is if you have something we want.
Lets get to the nuts and bolts, the plain fact is America has a long and lustful history for war,Lord how we love war,Korea,Nam,Iraq and again Iraq and if the Nut has his way Iran.
Reminds me of what George Carlin quipped "America is the only country that went from being barbaric to its demise, without going tru the middle,Civilisation".Have to think he made a valid point!!!

John Edward or Hillary?
either one is a disaster
waiting to happen.
Posted by: james rizzi | September 18, 2007 5:28 PM
if Syria and Iran are behind so many problems, why don't we have a draft and fight a war that will end this mess. We are just policing a problem that will never end if we continue with this Iraq policy.

It was Frank Lloyd Wright who said originally, " America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence with no intervening culture."
Carlin must have liked the remark.

what happened to the greats of America? Teddy R, Rosevelt, etc.
I guess all things are really under God's sovereignty.
Today, American candidates are like used car salesman selling troubling inventory. Telling you what you want to hear, what you want to see, what you want to believe, and fooling those who wish for hope but selling the public into prostitution.
There was once a day, when the leader of the western civilization stood as an example of what a great republic could be. Visions which helped future generations, breaking down POVERTY and preserving national treasures (beauty in nature).
Anytime I hear mandate, I think of my old countries "mandate of heaven" silliness. I ran away from one communistic mandate of heaven to have another democractic mandate imposed upon me.
All I hear today, is sweet talk, and pointing at the obvious. With ads, stating the usual, but it always lacks the details or any solutions. Talking about compromise, when there was never a solution is silly. I guess all humans have flaws, including myself, but I rather have my local bus driver become president, then.
The messages are motivational speeches, intentionally lacking substances, but thriving on emotions. Even a elementary student would motivate me more with his/her innocence then these lack of promise messages.
Let us vote, let us have a referendum. Do not let the republic become a dictatorship. What George washington fought so hard for, is sad to see coming apart.

Hillary proved she was crooked as a corkscrew during the 1980s and 90s. Mr Hsu is just one of the illicit bagmen she has embraced. To see more photos of Hillary's gang, check "The Year of the Rat" by Triplett and Timberlake

wait a second, isn't the money going to be spent anyway? so, who cares if clinton sends her people for some brown-nosing?
Posted by: jose | September 18, 2007 8:33 PM
It is not that the Iraqi people are not deserving of "freedom" it is a question of what form that freedom takes. We are trying to impose a political system that they do not understand or particularly want. Unless you have lived in the Middle East you cannot understand the mindset that is at play here. The concept of a "central government" that is not of an individual's particular clan, tribe or branch of Islam is unthinkable. Our model will not work as long as the Iraqi people can set aside religious and tribal differences. Our friends in the region do not particularly want a stable democracy in their midst. It might give their own people ideas for political change.

Hillary has got to be the biggest fraud on the National political scene since Tom Delay.
John Edwards needs to resume chasing ambulances.

Vote for any of the democrats especially Hillary and you people will get exactly what you are crying for SOCIALISM. Big government "Look after me" I do not have the gumption to look after myself !! As far as Iraq is concerned people had better study history and READ the scripture such as Ezekial 38 & 39. God IS real

Abel, I like what you say, especially about God's sovereignty. He is sovereign and He rules and reigns among the affairs of mortals. read Daniel 4:35 where a great king learned this truth.
God bless,

If it were, the war in Iraq, ever about the oil, we would have simply placed a single Division around the oil fields in the south and another around Mosuls' oil fields in the north and be taking it right now! So quit with the coolaide already.

Same old story every voting term, 'Washington has become corroded and corrupt', no matter who is in office. If not, it would be just more boring news...
War has always been and will always be, quit fantasizing about everyone getting along and be glad for those fighting, your family, your friends, and then yourself...

It's always a crack-up listening to liberals discussing Iraq with each other. It's alway hard to tell which one is the "chicken little," and which one is simply a coward. 4,000 brave Americans dead.
50,000,000 enslaved people a few generations away from become free.
Pretend all you want, but all us veterans see is you Yellow Streak.

Strange not one of you wrote what would change everything....not a damn one of you! Not a politician not any of the debates; are we so stupid that we don't see what the basis is for all the issues at hand. Imigration maybe we should FORCE mexico to save there nation rather than the nation coming here!! Energy issue= 5 super nuke plants 100ft below the surface you know old rock quarrys that go hundreds of feet down hmmm lets think about the (thats it) REAGAN years "trickle down economics"5 super plants developing over 500 magawatts each at 80% generation lets see thats capacity to take care of our power issues cause jobs for litteraly thousands of people for years (takes over ten years to come up on line typicaly). We can sell the power to mexico and canada even! Electric cars are possible because you'll have the power for the demand of adding all those hi draw chargers! We'll create jobs for new high tension lines being strung up (think about the effects of this) The trucks the equipment personell nuke development engineering etc etc it goes on and on!!Just the service industry alone would be beyond anyones thoughts General Electric would hire thousands all your supliers etc!!!!

As I said years ago, Hillary is wrong for this counry. No more Clinton's and no more Bush's. To prove you have health insurance to get a job? Where's my tatoo on my hand? You know what I mean. SHE IS WRONG for America, I will stand by these words to my death, and she may very well cause that too. I am a woman, so think about that.

writing this from overseas..where i escaped my insane homeland, the usa.. and to check here nothing has changed: republicans posing as christians, thinking jesus is into war, (psychos), and dems being bullshitted, again, by republicans like hillary and lieberman, and obama...edwards is the only real candidate..but he won't be able to win as democracy in the us is dead..and those who are prowar are the saddest most miserable people trying to inflict misery on those they never met..the usa has gone down in shame, just like it is predicted in the bible in revelation..whore (blackwater) of babylon(iraq)..

Hillary you are just a whore for money. If someone started asking you hard questions you will have them tazered. Get it all when you can for any reason. If someone talks to you have them tazered.

If you think health care is expensive now, wait till Hillary makes if "free" The Iraq war is not just about oil, although even if it were, the minute we pull out out of Iraq and gas goes to $16/gallon you can bet all those who are opposed to the war would immediately jump all over Bush amd slam him for being so stupid as to listen to them. The only outcry that would be louder is WHEN al Queda follows up with the release of a nuclear or biological device in a major US city that really does some long term damage and kills millions. The the far left wingnuts will will get a fast lesson in mathmatics and economics. Things can go from somewhat bad to unbearable in a real short time these days.

I am not a supporter of Hillary, but I laugh at attempts to paint her as being any more corrupt or devious than the rest of the field...they all have to lie, cheat and steal to get to that level..the butts they must kiss and the palms to grease are never ending.

Apparently alot of us have been living under a rock. Iraq doesn't want freedom, they don't want us there. There was only one reason to go there, and he's been hanged, time to leave and let them kill each other or learn to live with each other, it's not our decision to make, the US is not GOD. I believe we had a blanaced budget and NO deficit when Bush Jr took office, now we are exceeding the limit. Did we ever finish the job in Afganastan???? Give it up, bring our men home, deport ALL the illegals and protect our OWN borders, they don't like us, they don't want to live our way of life, then get the Hell out and don't come back.
Posted by: pyro | September 19, 2007 11:29 AM
To note how many people in this thread refer to Hillary as "a whore" is to understand that rampant sexism lies just below the surface of everything we do as a nation.
How about hearing some of the flame-throwers on the right who hate hearing President Bush called names stand up and say enough is enough? Oh, that's right, its always patriotic and quite acceptable to diss a Clinton, but hands off those flag-waving Republicans.

All I know is that if the Bush administration was in power during the Cuban missile crisis, we wouldn't be having this conversation. 1/2 of us would be dead (or not even born).

Watch for either the Edwards or Obama campaigns to soon go thermonuclear on Hillary. They are in possession of information regarding Hillary's greatest campaign finance fraud in history. Hillary will soon be under oath in the Los Angeles civil case, Paul v Clinton. The revelations from that civil trial about the fraud and coverup are going to change everything for 2008. http://hillcap.org has all the documents
