Why do these "Support our Troops" Republicans hate our troops so much?
I guess by support they mean lappel pins and car magnets.
We need a draft, that is what this whole thing is about. We don't have the troops needed nor the political will to get more troops, so we ellongate the time in theater and shorten the home time. Which leads to higher suicide rates, divorce rates and cuts down on reinlistments.
The Republicans are breaking our military. They don't support our troops, they support our Military-Congressional-Industrial Complex. They support their campaign contributors.
Support our Troops - Give no bid contracts to Halliburton!

Republicans seem to think that Congress has low approval numbers because of the Dem majority, wrong again Rethugs, people are ticked at your obstructionism on this war more than anything else.
I still fail to understand why all of these Republican weenies continually fall on their swords for President 29%?
It's going to destroy their party come 08.
The way to defeat this is the old fashioned way -- make the Repugs do real filibusters. Sure, it will tie up the Senate -- once, twice, maybe three times. But after that, the Rethugs will get the message that they should only filibuster when they absolutely, positively, feel they are up against the wall, they can't use it as a routine tool to block anything they have the teensiest little objection to.

Every one of these troop -hating Republican Senator's votes on this should be highlighted in their next attempt at re-election. These are the hypocrits that wear little flags on their lapels, bumper support stickers on their cars and then vote against the troops. Pathetic!

John E:
You know darn well the Democrats could end this war by themselves without a veto-proof majority. I have explained this so many times, I would be surprised if you couldn't recite it in your sleep.
And its entirely true. The Dems could end this war. All they have to do is vote against the next money bill for the war. The Dems majority could insure that no further money makes its way into the war coffer. Plans to bring the troops home would then have to start.
No, John. It's not Republican obstructionism that ticks people off. Tell yourself that enough times and you may believe it. But it's not true.
Instead, people are mad at all of Congress because the Democrats they elected to end the war are wimps of the first order. They are mad at the Democrats because they, too, know the Democrats could end this war with the next no vote for money - and that they could have done it many times before.
