DEARBORN, Mich. – There's a new blogger on the campaign trail, and it's none other than Meghan McCain, daughter of Republican presidential candidate John McCain.

Check out McCainBlogette.com for the recent Columbia University grad's take on tonight's debate featuring first-timer Fred Thompson.

Meghan isn't the only one blogging. She's joined by her good friend La-Toria Haven, described as a "political fashionista" on their web site, and Mary Anne Huntsman, a family friend and daughter of the Utah governor.

"We are friends bound by a passion for politics, pop culture, fashion and our adventurous spirits," Meghan writes.

Meghan and La-Toria have already been traveling on the Straight Talk Express, which was temporarily renamed the "No Surrender" bus during a recent tour of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. They're shooting video, too, and taking in the atmosphere, which often means watching a bunch of reporters sit around and quiz Meghan's dad at the back of the bus.

"As much as we can, we will travel on the road with Sen. McCain's presidential campaign and blog about our experiences along the way,'' writes Meghan in an introductory item. "In addition to the race itself, this includes all the behind the scenes action: notoriously cramped quarters, stale donuts and the fabulous shoes!"

Thank you for your service to our nation, Meghan McCain. Blogging for your dad is just as noble and important as joining the military to support the war on terror, a struggle so important our nation's very existence is at stake, or at least that's what Republicans say.

I wonder if she'll join the Romney boys out on the Republican "battlefields" of Iowa?

Janet,

While i share your views that there are better ways for these kids to support the cause it should be pointed out that John Mc Cain's son is in the military.

Unlike the Romney-5.

"stale donuts and the fabulous shoes!"

Wow that's...not funny.

As much as we would all like to "attack" these blogs--let's remember they are blogs. And Janet, you should get your facts straight about McCain's family and their commitment to our military men and women. Give these kids a break. It's always refreshing to see a younger generation taking notice of politics. Bravo Meghan and others.

But Kyle the very existence of our republic is being threatened by evil doers, dark sinister Islamofascists who hate our freedoms. We need more soldiers, not more bloggers or we will be speaking Farsi. I learned this by watching Repubican ads.

WTF?! Leave the girl alone and let her blog!! Who cares if she talks about shoes and pizza, its a blog people!!

It's important to remember that people can believe in political goals that are totally separate from personal ones. Meghan McCain supports her father; that's called filial love. As a fellow Vietnam Veteran, I support him; that's called brotherhood and standing together (and I do NOT buy into the BS some people have hate-spewed concerning alleged misconduct while in Hoa Lao; prove it or shut up). I disagree with some of the things he has brought out since entering the Senate, and because of that, I favor former Senator Thompson for the White House - but I will gladly vote for Senator McCain over Senator Clinton should the general election devolve in that direction in November 2008.
But, the denigration and mud-slinging being aimed at Ms. McCain's blog is nothing less than Monkey-House DemCong Libtard animalism. It is unfit behavior for intelligent human beings to indulge in, and ANY person with the intellect of my left small toe would refuse to take part in it.
Only a rhesus monkey would perform such dung-flinging behavior. Let's grow up, children.

Your dad used to visit our house in Pensecola Fl. He graduated from the Naval Ac with my husband. I will be voting for him and truly think he would be wise to have Mitt R run as his VP
