Someone in Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign mistakenly e-mailed a copy of working draft of a campaign document which isn't earth-shattering but still an interesting read. So onto The Swamp it goes.
It's essentially an argument for why women should support Obama. Whoever edited the document wisely crossed out an an abbreviated reference to the website MyBarackObama.com which in the initial version was written as "mybo.com."
Also struck out was this line, one of several the campaign of Sen. Hillary Clinton would no doubt see as fighting words: "We are light years ahead of the Clinton campaign in terms of organization -- not photo ops and TV cameos..."

Like all Americans, women desperately want change they can believe in. They want an end to the divisive politics in Washington. They want someone who had the judgment to say no to an unnecessary war and who can stand up to the special interests that have shut out the voices of average Americans for too long. These are all the reasons why women have been at the forefront of the grassroots movement that is the Obama campaign.
,which is why they have been at the forefront of the grassroots movement that is the Obama campaign.
While the Clinton Campaign likes to portray the competition for the support of wWomen through the lens of meaningless national poll numbers, which reflect the quasi-incumbents advantage in name recognition, the true story is on the ground in the early and February 5 states. In the latest The latest Des Moines Register poll showed 2 out of every 3 women is are not supporting Senator Clinton. In the state , where the public knows the candidates best, Iowa, the gender gap being touted by the Clinton Ccampaign is essentially non-existent.
What is Women for Obama
Earlier this year, the campaign launched "Woman for Obama," (WFO) an initiative to allow encourage women from across the country to participate in our campaign and to talk to other women about Barack Obama's lifelong leadership on issues important to women.
WFO is not only about endorsements, but instead its focus is the thousands of women on the ground who are organizing every day through house parties, book clubs, bbqs barbecues, blogs, and going door to door to recruit other women for our grassroots movement. So Oour women are not just voting for Barack, but are organizing and recruiting other women, one by one, to help Barack win in Iowa, New Hampshire and other key states.
Barack Obama: Standing up for Women
As the son of a single mother whose grandmother was the family's primary breadwinner, Barack lived through the struggles that everyday women face. This experience moved him to develop a lifelong history of standing up for women, from Barack Obama has a long record, starting with his days as a community organizer and continuing through his career in public office, of standing up for women. As a young community organizer in Chicago, Barack worked closely with mothers in public housing to force city government to remove asbestos from their homes. As a member of the Illinois legislature in the 1990s, Barack saw how politicians in Washington put politics over principle, crafting a federal welfare reform law that shortchanged the need for more childcare for working mothers. So Barack led a successful fight to ensure that the state's version of welfare reform included a six-fold increase in childcare funding. He also passed one of the nation's most comprehensive domestic violence laws. Throughout his career, Barack has been a leader on reproductive justice and women's health issues - receiving a 100% Planned Parenthood pro-choice voting record and recently winning their straw poll for his appearance at a July Planned Parenthood event. Last year, Barack had the courage to stand up while others ducked a critical battle over a woman's right to choose. He was the only U.S. Senator to raise funds for a critical initiative to reverse the South Dakota law that effectively banned abortion rights.
The Story in the Early States
For example, tThis past Saturday, oOver 150 women in Iowa traveled to Des Moines for a 6 hr grassroots organizing training. After the training the women have returned home to their counties, fired up and ready to go. These women will serve as Precinct Captains and Women for Obama leaders in their home county.

To be part of Women for Obama doesn't just mean that your name is on a list -- it means that you are actively organizing in your community to elect Barack Obama as President. The personal stories I hear from our women on the ground amaze me every day - from girls who are voting in their first presidential election to women in their 80's who haven't been involved in politics since Kennedy, thousands of women all over the country are inspired by Barack Obama's message of hope, change, and unity. Women for Obama is a fundamental part of our strategy to win the nomination and we believe see daily that in the early states and across the country we are light years ahead of Clinton campaign in terms of organization -- not photo-ops and TV cameos, but actual we have a grassroots organization capable of turning out the vote on caucus and primary night.

This must be a major scoop, I guess. It's a good lesson in editing. It informs us, too, that there are women who are not opposed to Hillary/Bill who are nice people, but want a change from the old politics, the old arguments, and a reincarnation of the old enemies that kept finding a pile of dog poop for the Clintons to step in for eight years. Women, like everybody else, do not want Ken Starr to come out of retirement. Enuff, was enuff. The lesson that women supporters of, "I'm your girl," Hillary/Bill should take note of is how representative the Hillary half of the relationship is of abused women who stand by their man. Except in Hillary's case she hung in to milk what she could from the perceived popularity of the playboy, rather than strike out on her own. She is not like so many other women who leave their adulterous and abusive husbands and achieve on their own. She could have done that and been heroic. Instead, as an enabler of Bill's dalliances, she's now collecting her dues by allowing him to cunningly help manipulate a victory for her. I wish I were head of the Obama campaign. I would continue to read her like a book, loud and long.

This memo does not surprise me one bit. It's the same old - Hillary is ridding her husbands name - while Obama's campaign is "light years ahead." Sure it is. Not only is it years ahead but it's in another dimension all together. Complete with drive by Obama video girls, anecdotes with what he did on a first date (as if that was proof of being presidential material), dinners with Obama, "match.com" sites and get togethers. mybo.com. cute. (I would include a book, but everyone has one now.)Honestly, the only change Obama represent is a change in how politics use the media to fund their campaigns. Sell out to the gimmicks that marketing companies use as new and innovative while trying to sell you something old in a new package. To be perfectly honest, I like Hillary, and the way she represents herself. Sorry. I hope she wins, but I will not have a fit if Obama wins instead either.

Way to GO OBAMA camp.
Keep up the good work on the women's side. There could be a natural tendency or a natural vacumme that will be created when there is no alternative. Hillary Clinton might count on playing the Women card in the abscence of a strategy that Women's concers are given enough attention. I believe WFO ( Women for OBAMA) should try to fill that vacume fast and run away with ideas, real ideas and concrete actions that gives confidence that they have made the right choice by joining OBAMA camp.
VIVA Michelle Obama and her team for the great effort!
GO'n get it!

You are right! There is nothing "earth shattering" here. I am a "woman for Obama" and this email is entirely correct when it states that we are organised and working hard (as volunteers) for our guy! This is my first time volunteering or contributing to any political campaign and it's been a wonderful experience. We have the most amazing grassroots organisation and the campaign has made a lot of effort to give us the training, the tools and skills we need to insure that Barack wins the primary and the national election. As far as your reference to MYBO... that is what we call Mybarackobama.com...nothing strange there! I believe that our volunteers will stay organised for years to come, long after Obama wins the election and we will use this organisation to help make this country reflect the integrity and values that are needed to lead the world by example. Yes...I am one of the "hopeful ones"

Come now, Amy. Do you honestly believe that Hillary/Bill is representing herself? Take a good long look circa 1992-2000. Then close your eyes and take a deep breath. Then look again. Is Hillary on the left and Bill on the right, or is she on the right and Bill on the left today. Same difference. 1992-2000 Bill was the ventriloquist and the dummy. Now, Hillary is waiting to be formulated into one or the other by Bill. Such is their relationship. Otherwise she would have left him a long time ago.

I don't understand why its so negative to say 'mybo.com' That's the nickname all us volunteer organizers refer to it as. Like 'post the event on mybo'.
Since its only commonly used amongst the thousands of campaign volunteers and not the general populace, it was good that it was edited out.

Rock on Senator Obama. You have the vote of every one in our unit and I'd wager that you are far ahead in the actual polling of Democrats and Independents.
OBAMA---ROCKS !! (despite what the MSM is trying to shove down our throats)

Look at today's Rasmussen reports poll--Sen. Clinton is 11 points ahead bases largely on the fact that, while she leads Edwards and Obama among men by 4 points, she is smoking them among women. In fact, every poll--national and state--shows Sen. Clinton smoking every candidate, democrat and republican, among women. The editing here was obviously not for accuracy.

The polls that should matter are those in States whose primary will matter...the early Sates. National polls include States where Obama has not even appeared. Another fault of the polls is that they only call fixed lines phones. Not many people answer those ones if they don't know the caller. Then there are those numerous people that use cell phones only, especially the young voters. Also, pollsters call in the early evening and few young people are at home at that time. Lastly, there are those pollsters that go like this: 1. "are you registered democrat?" 2. "Are you voting for Hillary"?...if the answer is "no", they don't ask you who you want!

Wow. Slow news day at the Swamp, huh? What-- no lapel pins? No haircuts? A draft copy of a campaign memo? How earthshattering!!!
How about the next story being about how much you all actually get paid for this kind of stuff? Now THAT's something I think we'd all be really interested in.

Julia Bailey. This is Josh H. from jewett. Will you marry me. Obama is the best candidate because their politics are similar and he is more electable in swing states, most importantly Fla. and Ohio. Get out the young, working, democratic vote!
