Former President Gerald Ford took a shot, so to speak, from beyond the grave at Vice President Cheney as reported in the new book "Write it When I'm Gone" by New York Daily News journalist Tom DeFrank.
DeFrank reports that Ford said Cheney, his old White House chief of staff, wouldn't be an asset to President Bush's 2004 reelection and thought he should be dropped from the ticket.
CNN's Wolf Blitzer reported on the Situation Room that Cheney's office had no comment about his old boss's vote of no-confidence. Ford died the day after Christmas 2006.
What CNN didn't report is that if the vice president felt angry about Ford's comments, he had an opportunity to work it off today. He was in upstate New York with a shotgun in his hands. Yes, he was hunting.
The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that he was hunting at the Clove Valley Rod & Gun Club all day today, leaving its grounds at 3:45 pm this afternoon.
There were no reports of lawyers or anyone else being shot by the vice president though it was probably a difficult day for a number of pheasants and similar fowl.
Of course, if the past is any guide, we in the Washington press corps are probably the last ones the vice president's office would inform of any mishaps.

Who was in the Cheney party? Harry Reid perhaps?

Since Halloween is almost here, it's time for America to vote on who scares them the most (Darth Cheney doesn't count, he was born scary):

Ford did not take a shot at Cheney. If you actually read the transcripts from the book, Ford had a great deal of respect for Cheney. However, he thought Cheney would be a hindrance to the Bush ticket. And we all know why..The Democrats can't stand the man, and he has had nothing but negative press since he has been VP. Some deserved. But this blog is typical of the media today. Journalists just throw half truths out there as gospel and unfortunately most nitwits believe it.

An excerpt from the same Ford book that Frank James won't give the readers:
"Gerald Ford was disturbed by Bill Clinton's skirt-chasing ways - and thought he should check into a sex addiction clinic.
A new book on the late 38th President reveals he had strong views about the Clintons: He thought Hillary wore the pants and that Bill couldn't keep his zipped.
"He's sick - he's got an addiction. He needs treatment," Ford told Daily News Washington Bureau Chief Thomas M. DeFrank, author of "Write It When I'm Gone: Remarkable Off-the-Record Conversations with Gerald R. Ford."
Ford's wife, Betty, who founded a pioneering treatment center after her battle with alcoholism and drugs, agreed.
"You know, there's treatment for that kind of addiction," she told DeFrank during the same conversation in 1999. "A lot of men have gone through the treatment with a lot of success. But he won't do it, because he's in denial."
From the NY Daily News. There's more on Bill and Hillary in the article, but since it doesn't diss a Republican, Frank James won't report it.

Cheney has spent his life plotting against the people of the United States. These commanders in theives will be prosecuted when the truth comes out. The only consolation is he won't live to spend his ill gotten gains. He appears to be in failing health. That and he hides the fact his daughter is gay. No shame there Dick. She should be ashamed of you for the raping of Americas values.

Dick Cheney is undoubtedly the worst VP in modern history, but to be fair he is good company i.e. the worst President in modern history. The history books will find it very difficult to be kind to these individuals.

If Cheney is so fond of shooting things up, why doesn't he make himself useful and go 'support the troops' in Iraq?

This is, of course, vital news for the DemoRats that write in the Swamp, because they held President Ford is such high regard, and because his viewpoints on conservative politics was revered by millions ... er ... thousands of ... uh ... never mind.
