Cindy McCain is a popular fixture on her husband's campaign bus, hanging out with reporters, and making sure Sen. John McCain takes his vitamins and wears his sun block lotion.
At campaign stops, she introduces him to voters, candidly admitting that she wasn't all that excited to go through a second presidential race.
In recent weeks, Cindy McCain has been getting around on crutches and wearing a brace on her right leg to stabilize her knee. On Wednesday, she is having total knee replacement surgery, and it's unclear how long she'll be off the trail.
John McCain likes to tell audiences that she injured herself while shopping. "Ladies, let that be a lesson to you," he often says as Cindy McCain rolls her eyes.
In fact, she was at the grocery store, pushing a shopping cart, when she turned and felt a pop. She injured a ligament, which didn't respond to non-surgical treatment, according to a campaign aide.

I'm just glad this wealthy millionheiress' knee will be fixed with my taxpayer money and we won't be treating some grubby child's asthma. Wealthy Senators and Congressmen deserve free government run healthcare and middle class families can stop crying and become wealthy executives or they can move to Cuba. I hear Venezuela is nice.

I had a total knee placement 7 1/2 weeks ago and can now get around not too badly. I used a walker the first 2-3 weeks, and a cane for about 2 after that. She won't be able to do a lot of walking right away, but sitting on a stage or close to a podium while he does his talking will be achievalbe very soon after surgery.
I am chronicling my progress at my blog
