In front of conservative lawyers, Republican presidential contender Rudy Giuliani promised to appoint like-minded judges and petitioned for a limited central government on Friday afternoon during a speech held in a Washington hotel.
“You’re making a choice. Who do you trust more: the government or the people?” Giuliani said, alleging that some of the Democratic contenders wrongly believed the central government should play too big a role in people’s lives.
Those Democrats’ names came up early in Giuliani’s 30-minute speech at the 25th annual convention of the Federalist Society, the legal group whose members include some of the most influential figures of the conservative legal establishment and a group Giuliani has avidly courted.
He singled out fellow presidential candidate and New Yorker, Democratic Sen. Hillary Clinton, for special ridicule in the same room where, an hour earlier, lawyers debated illegal immigration policies.
“First she was for the idea and supported Gov. (Eliot) Spitzer who wanted to give driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants,” the former New York City mayor said, referring to the current New York governor.
“Then she was against the idea. Then she was for and against the idea. Then she decided it should be decided on a state-by-state basis,” Giuliani said mockingly.
Giuliani also mused about the significance of next year’s election. “I know we say that all the time, that every presidential election is the most important one we have in our history but actually it’s a truthful statement,” he said.
He offered 200 reasons why 2008’s election is “really important” - the 200 federal judges that each president typically appoints during a four-year term. Giuliani warned that the top three Democratic presidential candidates Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards would appoint judges who would “legislate their social policy through judicial interpretation.”
“Judges exist to interpret the law, not to invent the law,” he said, a sure applause line in this crowd.
His speech at the Mayflower Hotel was standing room only, like a hit Broadway play.

Rudy Giuliani firmly believes that he MUST attack Hillary Clinton in EVERY speech he makes, to
make Republicans believe that he is the only one who can beat Hillary. When he attacks, he uses mockery and slander, accompanied by big smiles. He hides his own agenda by not speaking about it. He
has one platform and one only: BEAT HILLARY. He had his chance when he could have run against her for
New York Senator, but he
chickened out.

Rugy Ghouliani is a liar and a phony, he's probably the only candidate that could make Hillary look good.

When the most belligerent Republicans start to beat the war drums, it's important to look at what they're trying to hide.
July 20, 2007 | Nothing unites the Republican candidates for president or excites the conservative base more than their bellicose barking about war and confrontation. The GOP presidential debates often sound like a tough-man competition, with Rudolph Giuliani denouncing the "cut-and-run" Democrats, Mitt Romney demanding a double-size Guantánamo detention camp, and the rest of the pack struggling to keep pace with the snarling alpha dogs.
Yet while their rhetoric is invariably loud and aggressive, none of these martial orators has seen a day of military service -- except for John McCain, whose prospects are rapidly deflating, and Duncan Hunter, whose campaign never got enough air for a single balloon. Unfortunately for those two decorated veterans, their party seems to prefer its hawks to be of the chicken variety.

Rudy can take his hypocrite self and go pound sand.
His wink and a nod to Christian conservatives that if they'll overlook Rudy's indescrete personal behavior and views on abortion & gay rights, he'll nominate judges they want - is as phony, duplicitious, and cynical as it comes.

The kind of attacks that Don Giuliani is using is just a sample of what will go on between he and Hillary/Bill if both of them are the nominees. This will delight the media since they thrive on this kind of (the popular word for feces here). It will go on and on and on. We will not hear the end of it. It will be like the Yankees against the mets and the rest of the country will stand by numbly and wish there were the perennial third party candidate to come from nowhere and win the general election.

Many people think that Mr. Giuliani is the Republican front-runner, but there are still some very influential conservatives who are threatening not to back Mr. Giuliani for President. In fact, the National Right to Life Committee has endorsed Fred D. Thompson. I think Mr. Thompson has the best chance of defeating Mr. Giuliani for the nomination.

Mr. 9-11 wants a limited central government? Maybe he should vote for Dr. Ron Paul - the only candidate who wants to return government to the People. For most things, he wants the state government to decide what services will be provided. Then, if you don't like the way your state does business you can move to one you like. Each state will have to COMPETE for our BUSINESS as citizens. Don't you think you might get better deal for your government dollar?

I've seen Rudy's ridicule of Clinton a few times now with his "girly voice". It gets me to wondering: the guy's married THREE times; he PUBLICLY HUNILIATED Donna Hanover by telling her he was divorcing her at a press conference; he likes to dress up in women's clothes; and, he speaks with a lisp that must have made him the butt of TONS of jokes about his masculinity growing up in a tough quarter of Brooklyn.
Is Rudy a misogynist?
